If you are ever visiting Puerto Rico and still feel like eating pizza (as opposed to traditional Puerto Rican food), "El campo es leña" (The country is firewood) is a great option for you to try something different and see the most beautiful mountain area you could see in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is not all beaches you know... El Campo es leña uses firewood to make specialty pizzas... Now keep in mind the menu is limited to about seven specialty pizzas, but you can always ask for a custom pie. Prices are super decent (about $17-19 a pie) and the wait time is about 20-30 minutes (usually). Enjoy one of their tropical flavored drinks with Puerto Rican rum and savor the country and firewood scents with a breathtaking view. Finally, don't forget to take a jacket with you... this pizza place is located in the coldest ,mountains in Puerto Rico... Even if you enjoy the cold weather, better be safe than sorry.

I am not a pizza person, but I heard the views were nice and I knew my kids would enjoy some pizza. I was very impressed. Not only is the ambiance great, the pizza was delicious! You can customize your pie to almost anything you want. And, it was piping hot and fresh. Well done!

Holy cow....just come! If you're using Yelp there is a 99.9% chance you are a mainland American. I am personally here to tell you to come here (during daylight). The drive from Ponce is manageable and just the trek alone up the mountain was an awesome experience. When you get to the location, there is security to direct you where to park. The house like structure seems to have 3 businesses. A smoothie shop, something else and upstairs, pizza. Pizza was very good, the house mojito made with fresh fruit was delicious, and the views are heaven. Mojitos (large) $10, Pizza $22. Experience...amazing!

Loved, loved this place! Best part is the view! Pizza was delicious and ingredients are fresh. I visited with a friend and she was telling me this business has expanded. She mentioned it was originally only one floor, now they have another space downstairs with more seats and tables and you can buy other Puerto Rican delicacies (alcapurrias and rellenos, etc. /fried heaven Lol that's the best translation). It was drizzling the whole time we were there. You could see the cloud of fog and it was windy. They have 2 different lines, one where you can order drinks and the other one where you order the pizza (fire oven). We had house sangria and it was really good. They have drinks and juices made from fresh fruits locally grown. The place was packed and we had to be on guard to get a table... We ended up asking other party if they could share their table with us. So, win! We ordered the veggie pizza and it was really good. It's a standard size (for 2). I ended up eating half of the pizza (no shame here Lol) and my friend had the rest and a mini to go box for her last slice. It is a great experience to go here with the family and do some exploring around the island. FYI this is considered the "country" here on the island, so be prepared for road. I'll be visiting again when I come back to PR.

As good as the pizza was and I will talk about that shortly, the view was just as good. The place is located on a cliff side and it has this small market feel to it. With vendors in their booths selling artisan goods. The pizza was excellent. It was this artisan taste to it. Most places go with the traditional New York or Chicago styles but this place went different. Blending spices on the crust and using local products. One has to get here early because the place gets really packed.

I still think NY pizza is the best. It definitely isn't thin crust pizza. I prefer thin crust. The dough is seasoned with what looks like oregano and other dry herbs, which is new to me. I liked it a lot. What I didn't like was that it didn't have enough sauce. Felt like I was eating bread with cheese at times. I loved the view. We were at the top of a mountain. On my way there my ear popped a couple of times but no worries it was worth it. Lol I would have loved to order a side of marinara sauce for the crust because it was huge. Over all it was s great experience and a different style of pizza which I loved.

This was definitely not an easy find! Tucked into the beautiful mountains of Adjuntas is this humble home converted into a restaurant that serves EXCEPTIONAL wood oven pizza. Don't expect a restaurant ambiance, it's more like what puertoricans consider a "chinchorro". The drinks called leñazo are mojitos made with fresh fruit that you just can't have enough. My favorite leñazo was the Parchaberry (passion fruit & berry mojito). We ordered just cheese pizza which was $10 for 8pcs (seriously!). The dough mix is made with fresh herbs and the sauce had a perfect balance (not acidic at all). Sunday's are very busy, or more than usual of a wait. To this kind of place you have to go with the mindset of enjoying the views and drinks while you make a long well worth wait for your pizza. They do have appetizers served fast. Buen Provecho

Update 01/24/16: Last time we went the pizza tasted burned and not at all like the first day we went. Past review was: Well, I always compare everything to what we make at home and this is by far the best pizza I've had on the island for a long time. The place is on a really high mountain in Adjuntas but the trip was worth it. The bartenders are super nice though the lady in the kitchen needs to work on her people skills. We ordered one pizza "con todo" (with everything) and one called "Leñosa" that has almost everything hehe and both were just amazing. The ambience is super cozy and with nice reggae and dance hall music (thank God no reggaeton, bachata or merengue which we don't like at all) and they have this special house Mojito cocktail of different flavors. I tasted tamarind, acerola, passion fruit and guanabana and ALL of them were delicious.

This place has the best view of the mountains I've ever seen. The pizza has great crust and good taste!

View from the lower level. You can see the 2 pizza ovens.

AMBIANCE: Parking: Welcome to Old San Juan, it get get pretty busy - best to carpool or do public transportation. Seating: Indoor seating or private cabana set ups for groups. Room for a total of 100 people. Feels: Welcome to Old San Juan, a mix of touristy and culture. The spot itself is popular for locals and tourists. As for the space itself, what's unique about this spot is this place isn't just one bar. It's actually a series of connected rooms (about 6-7 different spaces), each with its own vibe - speak easy, dance, casual, house, live music and more! I'm surprised each room can contain it's sounds while maintaining its own energy. It feels like a speakeasy maze meets nightlife experience. Dim lighting, vintage touches, and just enough chaos in a good way. DRINKS/EXPERIENCE It was such a fun night, not sure what I ordered but there is an abundance of flavors as every room has different selections. But popular drinks if you're looking for guidance - lavendar mule, espresso martini, a classic mojito. They got the classic to your well-crafted cocktails. Some spots provide food while others is sip and chill or sip and dance. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Fast-paced but solid. Staff keeps up with the crowd and still manages to be engaging. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars! Good choices, reasonable prices, and a vibe like no other. As a gemini that can be quite indecisive, I enjoyed this spot - especially with its multiple options. This is more than a bar - it's an experience. A spot where the night can go longer than expected. TIPS: * Walk through ALL the rooms--you'll miss half the experience if you don't

It is very close to central square and Parque de Bombas, which is hard to miss. Look for the large V on the door. We visited on a Wednesday night and sat at the bar. Unfortunately, no live music on Wednesdays. The bar and the restaurant were not busy. We just saw one other couple dining. Service at the bar was fine. Note that the menu provided at the bar has no prices but the prices are listed on the menu online. All the drinks were reasonably priced- we have just had bad experiences at other places that do not list prices. We both had the Democracia drink with rum and banana purée. It was very good and just the sweet drink we were expecting as we had already had dinner at another establishment. So this was like a dessert cocktail. They also have a helpful diagram of drinks by sweet/ dry at the back of the menu. I found the low backed seats at the bar to be rather uncomfortable but appreciated that they had hooks under the bar for bags. The bathroom was very nice and clean but they had an ambiguous sign that roughly translates as "do not throw paper in the toilet". I hope they mean paper towels and not actual tp.

We sat at the bar and asked for a menu and we were given a menu that had very nice cocktail pictures and descriptions but no prices. When we asked the bartender about the prices she appeared to have a problem with that, so we went online and found a menu with prices. We tried the Democracia cocktail which was fruity and sweet, a nice dessert cocktail after having dinner at Hacienda Muñoz.
