It looks like a Victorian era style with the wide checkered floors and moody dark tone interior. All to say, the ambiance is a chíc. The food was delicious and paired well with the local red wine was a little sweet and light, Cabernet. The ribeye steak Chileneo cut was delicious with just a little bit of fat skin but not enough for it be annoying to eat around. The pork slaughter was perfectly cooked and tender. The corn side dish was delicious as well. The octopus... if you like seafood this is a must!

The back patio area at Casaluz is dreamlike and absolutely gorgeous: after a long day of walking in the hot Santiago sun, a few pisco sours in the garden was nothing short of pure bliss. The cocktails are extraordinary and made with obvious understanding and expertise; even the most basic and common drink here is superb. The food at Casaluz is current, and they put a lot of thought into presentation. Ingredients are fresh and diverse, and their salads are especially enticing. Because they offer tapas, you can sample a wide range of flavors, but the croquetas de jamon Ibérico were my favorite dish. An absolute gem that delivers on service, food, drinks, and especially ambiance. A must if you're in Santiago!

They gave us English menus and really went out of their way to be sure we got what we thought we ordered. The atmosphere was amazing. Great original artwork everywhere and lovely background music in a clean environment. The seafood was superb. The. Chef definitely knew what to do with each piece I ordered. Octopus is extremely difficult to get right but this chef did. It was perfect. The best I have ever had. We ordered a Pinot from the region which complimented our menu selections very well. Dinner was typical of the region but so fresh and again perfectly cooked. For Americans looking for a place to experience the local good seafood I highly recommend this place. Worth it in every sense.

El Txoko Alaves is best when you come in a group. They serve excellent Spanish tapas that you won't want to skip and in order to try as many as possible, I recommend coming with friends and family to get a little taste of everything. They serve wild boar (jabalí) which is delicious as well as suckling pig (cochinillo, seriously yum!) and boquerones, a dish from the south of Spain which is basically fresh anchovies (recommended by the waiter). They have a great bar with a comfortable and almost mysterious atmosphere that makes you want to start drinking their excellent sangria as soon as you get seated. Tip: They don't only serve tapas but also main dishes which include their menu del dia. It starts at 12:30pm and for 13 mil you get a 3 course meal plus either a glass of wine, pisco sour or beer and a coffee or tea! Call and make a reservation, especially at lunch time because this place fills up!

Came out to $360 total. The dishes and drinks were all beautifully presented, with a great use of color and texture. The service was top notch, and the ambiance was very futuristic or other worldly. Most important was that the flavor was amazing, and the portion sizes were enough to where after we shared the nine plates and three desserts, we were quite full. While not a meal we could afford on a regular basis, it's very much somewhere we would come back to for a special occasion.

They serve tapas and small plates, most of which are under $10 USD each - expensive for Chile but by US standards, comparable to a tasting menu at a fine restaurant. We ordered one of everything and had about 14 different dishes plus four glasses of wine and 2 cocktails for around $175. The restaurant has stylish decor and a club music soundtrack. Service was excellent and though I speak enough Spanish to get by, the servers were comfortable speaking English with us and made us feel welcome. We were one of 2 couples at 8pm but by 9:30pm it was packed with chic Chilenos. We liked everything we ate but our favorites were the scallops with mashed potato and Parmesan foam, the katsu Kobe beef sandwich, the pork, the caramelized tomato with smoked fish and the mushroom stuffed with crab. It's inventive food done well. Check it out if you're in the area. It's innovative
