El Bajio restaurant is a chain with a lot of locations throughout Mexico City. This one specifically is inside a shopping center. Decoration is always on point, from the walls to the stairs all the way to the restrooms. I've been to this one in Acoxpa but also tried the one on Insurgentes and Oasis. All of them share the same menu with an extensive variety of traditional dishes. Depending of the time of the year they offer special dishes like romeritos, bacalo during Christmas time and chiles en nogada from July to September. You can find dishes from different states in Mexico, they are famous for their gorditas and tamales, among other dishes from central and North Mexico. We tried the romeritos back in December and they were a little too salty for my taste so that's why they don't get the full 5 stars. I've tried other dishes like enchiladas and gorditas and they were pretty authentic. Their dessert menu is the best, I recommend the pastel de elote (cornbread) with rompope. They have a full bar if you are in the mood for drink. You'll find a long list of craft beers and cocktails. Try this place if you want to try authentic mexican food! read more
