During previous visits to Tampico, the billboards for El Asador have called to me and I finally answered the call. Comfortable, upscale seating on the inside. We were immediately greeted and seated. The mango lemonade I ordered came in a huge margarita glass. We started off with the empanadas. So delicious, I could eat them for a meal. We opted for the shareable platters. We ordered one that fed three, and one that fed two. These came with Ribeye, fajita, picana and grilled sausage. We good amount of tortillas and a spicy sauce that added a lot of flavor to the dish. I got treated to a cake for my birthday. I will definitely be back. Highly recommended. read more

Great steak at good prices, and some excellent Mexican sides to pull it all together. We walked here from the Hampton Inn near the airport. It's just a few blocks. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch here. Arriving just after 1:30, we were still at the front end of the lunch rush. We started our meal with salsa made at table-side and house chips. The salsa contents were fresh and varied, onions, garlic, various chilies fresh and roasted, tomatoes, tomatillos, and spices. The woman who made the salsa was keen on making it to our specifications, and wee were happy with her recommendations and special attention. We then shared a Caesar salad while waiting for our meals. The lettuce was fresh, but somewhat over-dressed. I had a large hunk of steak seated table side with mezcal. It was cooked medium just as requested. It was served with a twice-baked potato. My companion had a ribeye with elote. Both meals were excellent. I enjoyed that we were not at all rushed, and the service was good. We dined slowly, enjoyed ourselves and were well-attended. This is an easy restaurant to enjoy, and I recommend it for anyone visiting the area. read more

I ordered the steak tacos but I believe I was given a cheaper cut of meat. The tortillas would have been much better if they had grilled them a bit so they weren't so raw tasting. The beans were good. I liked the salsa Verde, it was a bit spicy but had a good flavor. Overall I think this place is over priced but I'm sure if I ate in instead of ordering take out the service would have made up for it. read more

Fabulous lunch. Exceptional atmosphere, with impeccable service, and to top it all off, amazing steak. High praise i know, but when you combine all three it doesn't have to be the best steak ever. Started with fried ribeye and guacamole, cheese and fries tacos. (I apologize right now for my lack of Spanish and butchering the menu. We then went with two different cuts of beef to share. One cut looked like a Dinosaur with a huge bone-in. Was fantastic and seasoned to perfection. The other cuts were fillets (not the best, but good). We finished with coffees. Cleanliness: the dining room is fresh and very well cared for Ambiance: warm and inviting Service: outstanding. I have been to this restaurant twice now and am amazed at how excellent the service is. The steak I had was cooked to perfection and the salsa and guacamole was the best I have ever had. I highly recommended this restaurant to my fellow Foreigners and look forward to my next visit. read more
