This is my horror story. it's a sad story too. I have been dealing with Baitys tires for nearly 10…read moreyears. Have never had an issue, ever! Great folks or so I thought. I recently had a lift kit installed on my 2025 Maverick tremor. They (Baitys) have done a lift kit before on my bronco sport Badlands awesome job. However, this was not. I acquired their services to do this lift kit and it was on for about a month before it failed. Apparently whether they did not install the CV back into the transmission correctly or the lift kit was missing something but regardless it popped the CV joint out and I lost the transmission. I thought it was a factory issue. It was not. Dealership told me about the CV and the issue with that being that it was not installed correctly or something was missing when they put the aftermarket lift kit on. I did not expect Baittys to pay the full price for the transmission, $8500 and change. But I did expect them to assume some responsibility. I figured that was fair. Also being kind to them because of the relationship I thought meant something and apparently that was Folly on my part. The dealership was awesome, (capital Ford) in Wilmington. They were kind enough to give me a loaner which I've had now for well over a week and a half free of charge. Unbelievably kind. This happened by the way 3 1/2 hours from home on Oak Island. I reside in Greensboro. Well got the call today that the transmission is done. I Texted Tripp the manager At Baiteys Tire he texted me and told me and I paraphrase, that the dealership called him and told him it wasn't anything they did. Which, of course, is in congruent with what the manager told me at the dealership. After leaving a slightly terse voicemail asking why they would tell him that as it was not congruent with our initial conversations after they found out what happened. This being at capital Ford in Wilmington, I got a call back from Nick the manager there and service that is, and he told me he has not contacted Tripp except for the first time telling him what happened and he would be in touch when it's done. 10 years I've dealt with Tripp and Baittys Tire and always recommended them. But why he would tell me a story that they told him it was not anything they did is beyond the pale. You know when you hire somebody, you have a reasonable expectation that they know what in the sam hell they're doing. Well I can tell you, he kicked the can and now I'm stuck with the full amount of a brand new transmission, plus the cost of the lift kit, which will not work on my Maverick at least in the kit that I paid for. So I am out over 10 grand. He can't make this up. So no, I could not recommend them again. It is very distressing. I'm out of the money. I'm out of relationship that you would've thought after 10 years. It meant something. But alas. I'm sure this is abnormal in business today. Sarcasm implied. So buyer beware. I would not recommend them and would give them a minus one score If I could. Sad, big time, mad oh hell? Oh yeah. This is what happened without any embellishments as I believe in being honorable and it is important to be as accurate as possible and not allow your emotions to overtake the facts. I was told by Tesla that my 2020 Tesla Model Y Performance needed a battery pack replacement. Before committing to Tesla, I called this shop and spoke with someone I believe was named Max, who assured me they could do the job and had third-party battery options that would be cheaper than Tesla. Based on that information, I paid $400 out of pocket to tow my car from Raleigh to their shop. That's where the red flags started. * It took over two days just to get a diagnosis, and I had to repeatedly call for updates. * I was charged $243.13 for the diagnostic, despite the delays and lack of communication. * My advisor, Marissa, told me she was "looking for a battery," which alone took another full day. * When I finally received an estimate, I was shocked: $28,000 total, with $23,000 claimed just for the battery. For comparison, Tesla charges around $13,000 for the same battery replacement -- and I personally found a compatible battery online for $14,500, which still makes their quoted $23,000 battery price extremely inflated. When I asked for a detailed, itemized estimate (battery source, labor hours, cost breakdown), I never received one. They could never explain where the battery was coming from, how many labor hours were involved, or why the price was so high. I asked twice to speak with a manager. Messages were taken both times. No manager ever called or texted me back. Because no repair was done, I then had to pay another $500 to tow my car back to Raleigh, wasting $900 total in towing alone, plus the $243.13 diagnostic fee -- not counting time and stress. He brought it out and showed it to me and allowed me to inspect it and see if it was up to my standard. I liked that extra step because it made me feel confident in Reed's reputation. It was very reasonable and I felt really taken care of in a stressful situation.
