Well, when you are reading and just enjoying your time (whatever you are doing) in this park, don't get annoy by people who taking pictures. Well, it's going to be lot of them, whether tourists or locals, come and go, so why not just help up time to time and enjoy this beautiful place.

It's a collection of hawker stalls staffed by Thai grannies and their families operating when weather permits on summer weekends. Bring a blanket, friends, family, pets and enjoy a feast on the grass. Since the pandemic the Berliner city fathers have interfered with this simple gem. So far they've only made it worse. They've paired down the number of stalls and added designated entrances and exits. This has caused those inside the hawker area to encounter bottlenecks throughout. Not a wise move in a global pandemic. It used to be open all sides so that one could approach a stall of their choice and easily exit without being in throngs of people. Although Thai Park continues to be as popular as ever, the number of vendors has been almost halved by the Berliner government. This creates more unnecessary chaos. I hope this awesome gem isn't regulated to death.

Finger food like Dumplings or chicken sticks with sauce and also proper meals with noodles and vegetables. Dessert and drinks are served as well and the prices are good. You can't go in the apartment - it's still apartments rented out, but there is a small memorial to David outside including a drawing and plaque where people leave flowers. You also can't just walk into the studio nearby because it's still a working music studio, but a sign in the window says you can pay for a tour through certain companies. They at least have some cool Bowie photos filling the windows. If you love Bowie why wouldn't you go? It is free and you can take a picture and it takes a second.

I don't know why, but vistberlin.de offers rather vague public transport directions, and Google maps offers none at all! We took the S7 to Wannsee, then learned we needed to take bus 218 to the ferry. Be warned, the bus arrives once per hour on week days and it doesn't appear on the arrivals sign (we were there on May Day, and it was still the regular weekday schedule - 51 minutes after each hour). The Ferry is €4 per person, and the ride lasts barely 2 minutes But, although websites say the ferry is €4 per person each way, no one seemed to pay the return fare and I imagine a portion of each fare goes toward maintaining the grounds. The island itself is beautiful, and smaller than expected, so easy to get around. There is an assortment of old structures, some of which charge an admission fee to enter. The castle, however, is closed for restoration until 2024. There were fewer wild peacocks running around than I expected, but we enjoyed the ones we saw. There is another area where different birds are housed.... Their habitat seems to offer a variety of green and scratching space, shade and areas to hide, but I'm not a fan of zoos in general, so it was difficult to see any animals encaged. There was also a small stock horse outdoors in a pen... But there was hardly any grass in it! He was in great shape, with very healthy looking eyes, hooves and hair, but he was huuuuungry!! I know you're not supposed to pick plants on the island, but we did collect long grasses from the other side of the fence for this dude to eat. He appreciated it Speaking of plants, the island is covered with them, both cultivated and wild... Lilac and wisteria, Lily of the valley, cherry trees and apple and chestnut, and so much more. I suppose it's definitely more people and less peaceful come high summer season, but we were lucky to be visit slightly before that and I think it was around 20 persons on the ferry with us. And we didn't see many more than that on our walk around the island either. Bliss. Love the tiny wooden castle and the other castle-like buildings on the island. And how natural, unkept, undisturbed and quiet it is. Good for walks and quiet contemplation - since you're not allowed to take cars, bicycles, dogs or music devices with you to the island - and yet so near the huzzle and buzzle of Berlin. I had expected to see many more peacocks, but we did see a few free roaming ones. The rose gardens were sadly not in bloom when we visited - I bet that would be magical - but the little garden cafe in the midle of a huge field offered a grand selection of beverages, cakes and light dishes. The apricot cheesecake we shared was absolutely heavenly. One wish though; discreet toilets in more than one place, please.

This is one of those grand European architectural locations. Once you get anywhere near this area,…read morewhat you will find are great cathedrals, beautiful buildings, and a very large square. The center point of this area is the large square. My suggestion is that you go and stand in the center of it, look around, and study its true uniqueness. What you will experience is one of the best places to view the grandeur of historic Berlin. Around this very large square, what you will find, (occasionally), is that they will have marketplaces. These marketplaces are usually seasonally orientated. Meaning, if it's Christmas season, you will find a great selection of Christmas orientated items. The main reason you come here is not so much simply to go shopping or dining, of which there are a lot of places to check out around the surrounding area, but to go inside some of the structures, and truly bask in the architectural glory of the statues, the way the buildings were constructed, and all of that kind of stuff. This isn't really a highly-touristy Berlin location. Which, is a good thing. Meaning, you can come here and really bask in a historic Berlin, which is deeply rooted in history. It will provide you with the true flavor and culture of Berlin. Overall, I would suggest that you do go here. You just need to know what to expect. There's not necessarily a lot to do, unless you truly appreciate the finer elements of architecture. But, it's a great place to visit.

One visits Gendarmenmarkt to take in the local flavor. There are beautiful buildings and sculptures…read moreto view and appreciate. People come here to hang out with their families and loved ones. I especially enjoyed looking at the expressions on the faces of the sculptures within the gates of the church. The artist truly captures a feeling. I walked here from the hotel I was staying at and enjoyed lunch in the immediate vicinity. It is a place to visit when in Berlin.
