We loved Archie's Wok! I ordered off of the restaurant week menu while my SO opted to order off of the regular one. He started with the calamari, which was quite good. Nice and light breading and not overcooked. We sampled the papaya salad (one of the best I've ever tasted), coconut fried rice with yellow curry, drunken noodles with shrimp and mango sticky rice. This was my first time trying mango sticky rice and I'm glad I did it here because Mexico has such excellent mangos. It was fantastic and is now a new favorite. The curry rice was also delicious but for me, was a lot of food, which is not a bad thing. A great value actually since I got three meals out of it! They also serve margaritas by the pitcher, which is literally illegal in the ridiculous state we are from so we were very excited at this option. The full pitcher was a bit much for 2 but my friends, not to worry! They do a half pitcher!!! Our server was so nice and did a great job. Food came out very quickly as well. We had a great time at Archie's Wok and it has been added to our list of musts when in PV.

Today is day 14 for us, wanted something different and I wasn't too sure what to expect. Just off…read morethe beach, this is a really chill place. I ordered take out since the wife wanted to stay in. Pork egg rolls, Mongolian curry beef, almond chicken and fried rice. I had a lemonade while I was waiting. Everything was packaged well (lids taped on, sauce servings with lids, wrapped in cling film. The food was tasty. While I was not much more than 5 minutes back to the hotel, the egg rolls were soggy. The sweet and sour sauce for them was very good, great flavor and not overly thick. I asked for the curry to be hot, but not too hot, it was pretty mild. Definitely worth giving it a shot when you're looking to switch things up. Like most of PV, it was good and it was spendy (about 1,400 MXD for 2 mains, combination fried rice and 3 pork egg rolls + 1 lemonade).

This is going to be the first of two reviews for Himitsu, because they were such different…read moreexperiences. The first was about as bad as it gets in terms of going to a restaurant. The second was the total opposite. On this first visit. We showed up as a large group of 13. There are no reservations, and you are told to do this. As a consequence, we were given a wait time of 45 minutes, and informed we would be broken up into smaller tables. This is fine, we had to do this at every meal, because for some reason this resort complex doesn't seem to think people visit in large groups. (But yet weddings happen here) Anyhow, split up into 3 tables of 4, one of 5. Somewhat near each other. All this was fine. Someone came to get our drink orders right away, and we got those drinks nearly instantly. But here is where it goes haywire. We were not given menus. One of the other tables eventually gave us theirs. All told, no one came to us or took our order for half an hour, and this is only after we flagged someone down. This new lady, which apparently was our server, she was completely incompetent... I'm sorry, there is no other way to put it. She took orders for another round of drinks, and our food orders. 30 minutes pass... our drink orders arrive. All totally wrong. She walks away before we can stop her. 15 more minutes pass. Two of the four people at our table get their appetizers. This is the last food we will see. 15 more minutes pass. The lady comes back to "check" on us. At which point we tell her all our drinks are wrong, and only half of us received our appetizers. She says she will check, and re-takes out drink orders, repeating them back for clarity... correctly. 15 more minutes pass, she brings our drink orders, half of them are STILL wrong, and no update on our food. Then we never see her again. At this point, we're angry. Because all of our other groups have had the full experience. They got their food, their drinks, everything all correctly. We ask their servers for help... "I'll check" .... nothing. I go to the host stand for help... "I'll check" ... nothing. It's not until we all said screw this and straight up walked out, that a manager stopped us to ask what was wrong. I relayed the whole thing, and all I got was a "sorry that happened" Really? No please sit back down and I will personally make it right? We paid a lot of money to stay at this resort, and ended up getting the remanants of the dinner buffet because they were about to close, 2 hours after we sat down to dinner at Himitsu. This was as bad an experience as it could get. We really wanted to eat here, so we can back as just the two of us another night, and that went significantly better. That will be another review I'll post later.
