The stairs to Einstein's apartment.
Stuart B.

The apartment recently reopened (February 2022) and admission is only five SF for adults. People still live in this historic building. I love the idea that you are walking on the same spiral stairs that Einstein used to use. This is actually the place where Einstein developed his "theory of relativity", according to the plaque outside. There is a lot of reading and it's extremely informative. I learned so much about Einstein's life, his loves, family, his education and all the countries he lived in. The apartment only has three rooms. The first room where you purchase your ticket was actually his bedroom, the next room is the baby room and then the living room. There are several items that Einstein used to use daily like a book stand. And you can see the street view that he had. On the floor upstairs there are several walls full of information and photographs from his life. They also have a nice gift shop. The museum staff is limited but very helpful and she explained what each of the rooms was. It's definitely worth a look and I recommend having a coffee and maybe a bite to eat in the Einstein café downstairs which is wonderful.

This small museum was actually where Einstein lived at the time he formulated his famous Theory of Relativity. The entry fee is 6 CHF (4.5 if you have the Swiss Travel Pass or if you're a student or senior.) It's a bit small though quite informative if you're into Einstein and his works. There's also a biographical movie on Einstein that's playing on a loop (it was in English at the time I was there although there are options for French or German.)

Thoroughly enjoyed this museum. Be sure to watch the 20 min video as it supplements the rear of the exhibits. Then there's a lot of reading - but it is fascinating. If you like history and historic people, you'll love this museum. Its 3 levels. First is a cafe. The 2nd and 3rd are the museum. The video is on The third floor. Also if you need to know more after this go to the History museum across the river and there's more on Einstein there (3rd floor +) Enjoy!

Well, this is where Einstein lived, but he lived in 6 places in Bern, and this place is just the longest one (2 years). There are two floors. The first floor is the recreation of their living room, the second floor is a mini museum of then events that took place in Bern when Einstein lived here. If you are a big Einstein fan, It is a nice museum. But is it worth the 6 CHF? Meh

When walking through the door, I instantly felt my IQ begin to rise. Then I contemplated quantum physics. Located along the main stretch in Berne, Einsteinhaus features the living quarters of the famous scientist as well as some of his inventions. Living here from 1903-1905, the house is where some of Einstein's greatest theories were developed and written. You'll get to see Einstein's furnuture, baby crib, as well as a commemorative bust. Several physics-motion devices are on display as well. Although it is a small museum, this part of history is definitely worth a look. After all, how often do you cross paths with Einstein? Price per person: CHF 6.00 Viewing Time: 45 minutes

This is a great museum...if you like Paul Klee. Well, even if you don't, you should just go. The…read moremuseum and the space itself is beautiful. Klee is a Swiss-born artist and this museum pays homage to his life's work. They also feature other artists in a rotating exhibit. You are allowed to take photographs in the museum which is nice and they have a super awesome children's center with easels and fun activities for the little ones, so if you have small children they would LOVE it here. Many of Klee's work resonates with children's artwork, with the forms, colors, shapes and lines he used. We also really enjoyed the gift shop, and they had reasonably priced knick-knacks and fun stuff (reasonably priced for a museum and Switzerland :) ) We also dined in at the museum snack bar area, the food was just o.k., and not a huge selection so if you're super hungry afterwards grabbing a coffee and a treat (nuss gipfeli anyone?) I might recommend that over getting your full lunch here. They carry the Chaya iced teas here which are super delicious but prety expensive...5 CFH. All in all though, this is a great museum to come to if you are in the Bern area. Expect to spend between 1-2 hours for your visit.

Definitely worth going. The grounds and the building itself are quite beautiful. We had less than…read moretwo hours, I think 2-3 hours would have been more than enough time. The Paul Klee collection is inspiring. We also saw the collection of Brazilian art, which was encouragingly diverse across many dimensions. The gift shop had several things I would've loved to buy if I'd had room in my bag.
