An attractive monument over to the side of the Paulsplatz that is dedicated to unity. No, not that whole East and West Germany thing that happened when the Berlin Wall fell. This one is older than that and commemorates the first German parliament of 1898. Yes, it was inaugurated in 1903 on the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Leipzig.
At such an age, it's seen better days. The top of the obelisk is a corroded bronze figure holding a golden plate with the inscription "Seid Einig" which translates to "stand together."
It is an interesting monument to the past that could use some polishing. read more
