I brought my W-2 and other forms to his office and he said it would be done next week and i once again asked about the price and he said $200. I called him 6 days later and asked if I could pick up my taxes. He stated that he told me that it would be done by April 10th and I told him that he said it would be done by next week. He then stated that the was with a client and he was very busy and stressed out and he he wanted to hang up because "he didn't want to say something he would later regret and then hung up on me. He called me back one hour later and apoligized for what he said. He then tried to charge me $300 dollars andI quickly pointed out to him that we agreed on a fee of $200 and he quickly agreed. Van Dyke and Hand have been taking care of my 95 year old mother's taxes since my father passed…read moreaway. It was a very simple return as she only gets income from social security and some investments. They have a flat fee and then charge for time beyond that. In 2023, they charged me extra to complete her return. I called them repeatedly to get an explanation for the extra charge and although the office staff was always very helpful the accountant never bothered to call me back. Stay away from Van Dyke and Hand because they overcharge and don't have the common decency to meet with a client to explain the charges.
