Dépourvue de transept, elle fut reconstruite du XIIIe au XVIe siècle. Elle témoigne parfaitement de l'évolution de l'architecture gothique normande, et possède en son sein le "roi des clochers de Normandie". Son chevet Renaissance fut construit sur pilotis au XVIe siècle.

Admission is free althogh information about guided routers can be found at the tourist office of Bayeaux. There is a crypt to see. As Normady was miracously spared during World War II bombings, the church and the town have been well preserved. Outside of the cathedrale part of an ancient Roman wall can be seen. There is also the Libery tree planted in 1797 as a symbol of the French Revolution ideals. The tree still stands. Allow at least an hour inside then explore the medieval town and history of Bayeaux.

Visited here in 2012, on a van tour of Normandy. The church was seen in Band of Brothers, etc.,…read moreand it's a famous part of D-Day history, with a paratrooper mannequin snagged on the steeple as happened that day. There's a big parking lot, and the church itself is pretty typical for the area. The mannequin is, well, a bit cheesy to see on a church, but definitely evokes the events. Across the street is a great museum about D-Day, and the whole area is rich in history. Several food and gift shops nearby, so you can easily spend an afternoon or whole day.

This church has a lot of rich history and there…read morestill is a replica of a US paratrooper and chute caught on the steeple, as D-Day began and the church honors the sacrifice of the allied troops. This was a nice stop as the Airborne museum is across the lot from here. Inside the Presbytere, there is a beautiful stained glass window and wooden pews for the parishioners. Seeing the popular war cine from the WWII period (like SPR, the Longest Day, and Band of Brothers), this tour and spending time in Normandy really personalized the experience and made it real for me.
