We have been taking our son here for the past 6 months and I would recommend a Jiu-Jitsu class to…read moreany parent struggling with a child that needs either 1) a little help with channeling energy or 2) a little help with confidence. I think this particular martial art does an excellent job at addressing both of these areas. For our family, it has personally shown how perseverance and hard work can pay off, which has allowed our son to be so proud of himself for his accomplishments; and in turn us proud of him. Yes, he is still a silly 6 year old; but he has become more aware of the choices he makes and knows instantly if they were good or bad. We have seen marked improvement in his behavior both at school and home. Mr. Keith and his other instructors are patient and fair; strict but caring individuals. They are able to make learning a martial art fun for a 5-6 year old, yet teach them the fundamentals behind the sport. Belts are earned, never given out just because. The Little Rhinos class is great for both girls and boys. I do wish the class was a bit longer, as I feel sometimes by the time they get the sillies out and get focused on grappling time is up for the day. However, it is also obvious 5-6 year olds can have short attention spans. So I can understand the decision to only make it 30 minutes. On a side note, they will advance your child into the next class which is 45 minutes when they feel the are ready. They do offer classes for all ages, not just the youngsters. So if you once practiced the sport but fell away from it. Or have never tried and would like to start; they have a class for you. I also know they frequently run specials as a way for you to let your child try out the classes for a month or so, before you commit to sticking with it. Something I really appreciated after trying other sports with our son that were a total flop. They are located in the Albertson's strip mall on the corner of Meridian Road and Fairview. Most of us park behind the building, as parking is a little more convenient than in the front with all the other business patrons to that area.

I don't know how this place doesn't have more reviews. It is easily the best place in the valley to…read morelearn Jiu Jitsu. My two sons are 11, and 9 and we came in cold to this place. No martial arts experience . Nothing. They have a way of teaching kids that is superior to anything else Ive seen or heard about. This is not a jungle gym. It's a place to learn the best defensive martial art in the world. It's in a huge, clean studio where parents can watch their kids learn. Not some back room not set up for success. Led by a crew of highly trained upper belts. Team Rhino has been nothing short of a Miracle for our kids. Who should go here: kids who are getting bullied at school, kids who aren't getting bullied but perhaps they're on the smaller side for their age, girls should 100% be attending this. It is the closest thing to a superpower they will ever get. Safety, consistency, and a stellar curriculum round out this place. This place is not like places I learned bjj. These folks are welcoming and nice. They also have a stellar tournament group. Listen, your kids will eventually age out of baseball, football, soccer, etc. BJJ is for life and teaches true life skills. Pic of the boys at one of the tournaments.

This gym is by far the best I've been to in all of Idaho I've visited the vast majority of gyms in…read morethe valley. They have a wide of array of teaching Styles and practitioners with some competing at even the highest level in the sport. They have a phenomenal kids program that has been tearing through the competition scene as well. In turn of the level the gym operates at it has a nice family welcoming environment and everyone is tightly knit, creating lifelong friendships. The final and outstanding thing I've noticed is despite again the high level of operation they have a strong beginners program and work hard with and for you if you are a newcomer working with you to meet your goals extending from just wanting to broaden your learning and activity in your daily life to helping achieve your aspirations to compete. This truly is a diamond in the rough!!!

The only fear I have of posting this review is blowing up my spot. I've trained here for nearly 3…read moreyears and it has been consistently great! The instruction is phenomenal, especially as you get more advanced. I'll be honest. It can feel like you're swimming in deep water the first several months of training. However, as the time and effort on the mats continues to add up you will start to see how amazing the training really is. WIDBJJ is the perfect place to begin or continue your journey with Jiu Jitsu. It's a commitment that will pay off dividends in your life, the lives of your children and the life of anyone who stays consistent with the martial art. You will not find a more technical understanding of the martial art than right here. The main professor is a world champion. Train here and you will learn what it takes to be a world champion. I have grown so much training here and hope to continue training here for a long time to come.
