I shouldn't have to make an excuse to go here - It's excellent. The ground floor is their outstanding chocolate and cake shop - definitely worth spending some time here tasting and choosing what they have on offer. Their selection of over 40 celebration cakes on display are stunning - you'll find yourself staring at them like some sort of art. A few of the wedding cakes are pushing £1,000.. asking if it would be worth it? For me, yes! Their cakes are amazing - no wonder Wayne Rooney bought his wedding cake from here and had it shipped to Italy. You'll find me with my face pressed up against the viewing window where you can watch the cake decorators working hard to perfect these masterpieces *drool* I'm certainly not planning my wedding or anything but I already know that there's a massive possibility that my cake will be from here. On the first floor is an elegant restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and of course CAKE. The menu is fab and I haven't heard anybody mention a bad word about it. I have yet to visit the restaurant and I hear that unless you book weeks in advance you've no chance of getting in, but this only makes me want to try it even more and it is certainly on my list. In the past I have bought baskets from here and made my own hampers, mainly for family or friends at Christmas time - consisting of chocolates, hand make cakes, biscuits, marmalades, wines etc (all locally sourced). Safe to say these always go down well. If you have a sweet tooth, this is somewhere you should definitely visit.

For me, a perfect visit is to get a cinnamon sweet roll (warmed, with extra frosting!) and a nice big cup of tea, not only because it's so delicious that you groan when you take your first bite (*ahem*), but because it's such good value, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The venue itself is long and narrow, but has several tables and a stylish art piece on the wall showing people enjoying the sweet rolls! This place is a real gem, but because it's just at the top of the escalators near the entrance, people tend to miss it, despite the free samples often offered! Definitely give this place a try sometime, it's too delicious not to!

I came in this branch today, opposite Game and The Card Factory in the Manchester Arndale as I had a promotional free cookie from O2 Priority Moments, which normally costs £1.29 This is the main branch of the two, and it also makes large iced cookies for special occasions at quite high prices. The service here was decent, the man who served me was friendly enough but he was slow in dealing with customers and I was waiting for around 3 1/2 minutes as he was the only one working on my visit, which isn't right for a busy branch in a large city like Manchester. The cookie was a decent size and wasn't really value for money compared to what you can get in a multipack. Quality was average, and flavours were limited. I opted for coconut. Sadly this is just an average shop really, which I wouldn't even class as a bakery due to such a high focus just on cookies, Location, some aspects of value and service warrant a low two star rating.

When you spend such a high amount on a cake, you expect a good quality tasting product and service too, however, It wasn't met. I found the cake to be rather dry, which although can be common with gluten-free cakes, it shouldn't be the case with ones which are more premium and supposedly home-made. Lollys Cupcakery also do have the option to customise the cakes with certain designs, but all they seemed to do was print out a few cut-outs and stick a few into it which any idiot with a printer could do, it just felt like a cheap, half-hearted knock-off more than anything and considering Lollys Cupcakery pride themselves on making cakes for a special occasion, I just think from a price, taste and presentation point of view, which are the three main factors a business like this should deliver, it sadly just isn't good enough. 1*
