For our main course we had Karous a spicy seabass filet with couscous and my girlfriend had the Tagine d'agneau. This is lam with prums and coriander! I tasted both and the lam was very tasty and tender and the fish was perfect. We had a grand dessert with Hadia, Crème Brûlée, ice Cream and fruits. We were looking to try traditional Dutch pancakes - pannenkoeken - and picked Luciens from Google Maps. What a right choice it was!!! The pancakes were absolutely delicious and really authentic like we never had before. They were a bit thicker, dense, and not so soft as French crepes, but we all liked it. They tasted amazing! We highly recommend Luciens if you are looking to take a bite in the center of Old Amsterdam and try authentic Dutch cuisine and specifically pannenkoeken! These are the pancakes we ordered. Vascobelo however looks like one of these. I like the interior, the decoration and the way the staff is dressed. Stylish. The way the place is set up offers different corners: a quite corner to work, a big table to have lunch with family or friends and the central area with smaller tables. Also, as I am always looking for child friendly places, Vascobelo it not really inviting parents with children. No toys, no playcorner, a steep stairs without any protection and only 1 kid chair. Too bad! We need more of child friendly cafe's in the neighborhood. Besides that I think the prices are really high. Lunch sandwiches from €7-€14,- wow. And a simple ham-cheese croissant for €5,50 ... I don't think it's worth it.

Even being from the U.S., they were very accommodating for us speaking English. We both got the pea soup with rye bread and bacon and it was delicious and heated us right up from the cold outside!
