I originally found Darryl Hale on Yelp and had him prepare our taxes the last couple of years…read morewithout issue. This year Darryl reached out directly offering tax planning services. After paying the $2,500 assessment fee Darryl recommended two tax strategies, both of which raised significant concerns: 1) GFX Trading - a complex Series LLC foreign currency structure. This strategy was presented as a way to generate large tax deductions through foreign currency trading. When I asked for written explanations of how the strategy worked, what the economic substance was, and how it would hold up under IRS scrutiny, the answers were incomplete and at times inaccurate. When I declined to proceed, he called me immediately, insisting "everyone is doing this," and became defensive. I later understood that his affiliated company receives commissions from this arrangement, which was not disclosed before he recommended it. 2) DNA Harmony - involving the purchase of gift certificates for Jazz Band Splash red-light therapy. This was presented as a deductible expense through a separate Series LLC structure. Again, I requested information in writing about the IRS basis for deducting these types of purchases, but the responses did not address compliance, valuation, or audit exposure. When I decided not to move forward with either strategy based on the lack of clear documentation and concerns about risk, I requested a refund of my $2,500 fee. The request was denied. My experience did not meet the level of professionalism I expect from a tax advisor. I would not return nor recommend Darryl Hale and will be filing a complaint with the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility and notifying the California Franchise Tax Board.

Probably the best thing I did for my practice. I have somewhat of an atypical psychiatric practice…read moreand Paul (my CFO advisor for almost 3 years now) took a risk by taking on a type of practice that they weren't (at that time) familiar with. Over time, Paul and the rest of the PracticeCFO team has learned the minutia of what we do, and now is able to help advise in a very effective manner. I can't say enough about how helpful PracticeCFO has been. For example, they unwound a nightmare situation with a 401k gone awry. This alone took many many man-hours and countless emails to fix (shout out to Brandon and Paul for that). They have kept my payroll totally dialed in and taxes at the end of the years are a total breeze due to all the planning and adjusting that goes on constantly throughout the year. The accessibility to the PracticeCFO team is awesome, too. If something pops up that I need guidance on, I can get almost immediate assistance. We went from a little podunk practice with 2 employees (one physician and one admin worker) barely breaking even and probably on the verge of bankruptcy, potential tax fraud (sarcasm-not actually committing fraud), and other business disasters. Seriously, my practice would have been dead if I had not stumbled upon Paul and his team when I did. If you are a small practice (dentist, veterinarian, physician, etc.) you are doing yourself a huge disservice by not contacting these guys to help your practice succeed. We as healthcare professionals have been failed by our education and training institutions with regards to how to do anything business minded, let alone run a practice, so let the pros do it. These guys know their stuff and have a nice network of resources. Fast forward after 3 years with PracticeCFO: I have a killer 401k plan blossoming, my taxes are totally dialed, and my practice grows constantly, we are building equity and net worth, and so on. Best of all, I sleep great at night knowing these guys have the $$$ dialed in. Thank you guys so much! Jake Hollingsworth, D.O. https://pacificpsychcenters.com

They helped us establish the foundations of our dental practice, and are extremely prompt about responding to all my messages and get me to the right place. They are not just a CPA firm, but they have a lot of things under one roof such as consulting. The practice consultant he works with, Deb is also amazing. She has helped us through everything! Wes put me in touch with the right people to help my practice grow. Wes is also very detailed. We could not be happier with his services.

My wife and I were going through some financial turmoil and I sent them an email hoping to get a few tips on how to get out of debt and better manage my finances. Well not only did I get a few tips, I also got an amazing financial plan which will help us get back on track and get out of debt within a few years. Aries Jimenez is one of the best around! He spent quite a lot of time walking my wife and I through our new financial plan and spoke in a way that someone without a lot of financial guidance could easily understand and follow. My biggest tip to anyone who is interested in working with a financial planner, is to do it before you need it. Sure, you are spending your hard earned money on something you think you may not need, but trust me, had we reached out for help before our debt rose out of control, we would not have been in the predicament that we are in now. It is money you are spending up front but you will end up saving money in the long run. Trust me...its worth it. Thank you Aries for your amazing and structured advice!!

I did my first intake session with Cory and he was a lot of help. I've been nervous to look into any kind of financial advisor, but he made me feel safe and understood. The approach is different than anything I have heard, googled or read. I was given advice, resources and strange enough, compassion. The things that are essential when it comes to money and finances but often forgotten. Along with this, Cory has much intelligence and knowledge yet is very humble and down to earth. I want to recommend him and San Diego Wealth to anyone interested, even if its the beginning stages of curiosity. They can help lead and guide to what is best for you. I would recommend just reach out, ask questions, and let them take it from there. Thank you Cory/San Diego Wealth!

I made the mistake of doing my taxes on turbo tax and 2 years later owned the IRS a significant amount of money. I contacted Brian on a Saturday morning and he had responded within the hour to have a plan to fix my problem. Brian indeed saved me thousands of dollars and most important a ton of unneeded stress. This year I used him to file my 2018 taxes and it was worth every penny. Very easy online portal to upload information and necessary documents. Brian had my return completed within 2 weeks with very prompt and thorough work. I highly recommend Brian and his services. Never again will I use a cheap tax service such as turbo tax... don't make the mistake I did by using turbo tax.. rather use Brian and his services. A+ all around!

My initial message: "Hi Brian, I am just looking for a quote for 2023 tax filing, not to actually start it yet. We will be needing help on a couple of tax situations this year." His exact response: "Understood. I will provide a quote for 2023 during our call. I just sent the questionnaire." He then emailed me the questionnaire; I put I was interested in "Individual taxes" and sent it back to him, I NEVER put I was interested in Investment management or any other kind of financial services. So he knew this whole time I only wanted tax preparation. He still proceeded to call me today and asked a few questions related to our tax situation. Then at the end of the call he asked if I was looking for someone to manage our investments, I said not at this point...we are only looking for tax preparation now. His tone completely changed and he abruptly told me in a condescending manner we are not a good fit because they are saturated with tax preparation clients and he's looking for clients who want investment management. I was pretty shocked at the change in his tone and his annoyance once I told him I didn't need someone to manage our investments. Again, I made it VERY clear from the start I was looking for tax preparation services only from my initial message AND the questionnaire he had me fill out. I honestly don't know why he still called and was rude when he knew he couldn't take on any more clients who only wanted tax filing.
