It is sizable & full of art characteristic of the Bridgeport area. I was greeted by a friendly officer who took the time tell me more about the station, & introduce me to others in the building. As someone who wanted to get more involved in her community, I learned that I can attend monthly CAPS meetings for my particular beat. I was given a sign to put in my window for Neighborhood Watch. Everyone I spoke with was so generous with their time, & were very knowledgeable about the Bridgeport Chicago community. I encourage all my fellow Bridgeport Chicago residents to support the 9th District Police Station! Get involved, meet your neighbors, & meet the officers who keep watch over our lovely community. My father sent me a recording of my car being stolen by 7 men in masks saying call the cops which I did. while on the phone with the dispatcher we located it 2 blocks away after it being gone all night. the responding officers told me just to take it home because the investigators will just keep it for longer and nothing will come from it and told me to go to the 9th to report it in person, which I did. I needed to document the damages to my car and lock/ignition system. January 24th I went to the 9th district to make a report in person. the fat officer (S. Cabrales) in question told me I was probably drunk and parked it somewhere without remembering. mind you I don't drink at all and I had it on video and wanted to show him. he did not want to see, told me there was nothing that could be done, so I left without trying to argue. because of this I was never able to get the justice I needed, didn't know what else to do, and don't even have a paper trail proving it happened. nothing ever came of this, I don't trust the 9th for anything crime related anymore. that was an absolute slap in the face and reinforces my conception that Chicago has the laziest cops in the nation. I only opted to post this now as I'm about to call them for a person parked on the sidewalk today, with no real confidence anything will be done about that either.

Fellow inmate denied medical attention for symptoms of a concussion after being dropped on her head by arresting officers. Ignored and later mocked for screaming and crying for help for her. Denied necessary medications and then released feeling very ill and barely able to see straight. These guards could not care less who you are or why you are in there. They would literally not care if you drop dead. They are sick people who get off on others' suffering. Shame on them all.

I met several of their officers after volunteering some services that I can provide to them about servicing animals and mental health. They were all nice and helpful. The officers have been restrained and thoughtful dealing with the individual, extremely skilled at de-escalating the situations, and have gotten them once into involuntary psychiatric treatment. They have been extremely prompt and responsive when called. Very, very impressed by all the great work. I realize people have bad experiences with CPD but we also need to acknowledge when they provide outstanding services -- and a very difficult job to do.

My local police station (the Blue Island branch) told me that it was at ERPS, and I'd need to go there to get it. After a couple of false starts (Blue Island wasn't sure what paperwork I'd need, so I had to go back and forth a bit), I was able to get it taken care of today. Here are some things I learned, both from my own experience, and watching others get taken care of: - The people at the counter are super nice, considering the position they're in. They're cheerful and pleasant. As long as you follow the posted rules, you're good. - Officers coming in for evidence take priority, which is totally fair, and it means... - ....you'll have some amount of wait, depending on what you're picking up. Was your iPhone stolen and recovered? It'll probably take 15 minutes. Did you leave your uzi behind at the gun range? Probably will take longer. - Bring a book. Phones and iPads aren't allowed, so bring something else to entertain yourself while you wait. - They treat everyone respectfully. Whether you're recovering your misplaced phone or getting the wallet you were arrested with, it doesn't matter - I saw people of all shapes, ages, and colors helped in a friendly fashion. If you DO have to go see them, make sure you have your paperwork in order. You'll need your inventory sheet (your local PD can give this to you), your photo ID, and - for some items - a property release form signed by the officer in charge of the investigation. When in doubt, call ahead and find out what you'll need. As I told the officers when I left, I hope to never see them again, but if I do, I'm glad they make what could be weird, uncomfortable experience as good as possible.

I received an alert that my card was stolen and being used at Target. I immediately called 911 to let them know that the thieves were in Target still attempting to use my cards and asked that they send a police car ASAP. Kukielka and Negrete were in front of Target in under 5 minutes and went with me over to PetSmart where the Target Security Guard had followed the two thieves. They were able to find my ID and a credit card in their possessions and arrested them. I feel like often we only hear the negative when it comes to the CPD, I am here to tell you that these men and women were incredibly professional, helpful and made my not so great Sunday a whole lot better! It was quiet on that Sunday morning, which at the very least I was thankful for. It took about 15 minutes to file the report but it took longer than that because it was a shift change and they don't pay attention to you then. (Since no injuries / car is drivable) I stopped by district 17 PD in Albany Park after work, to which an officer kindly advised me of the extended wait time, and informed me I had 10 days to file the report. Wanting to rest after work, I thanked him and decided to head back the next day. Today, I went to this police station in lake view east, since it's closer to me. After entering, I was called over by one of the police officers. He was older-middle aged, and Hispanic/latino. He asked me where the crash occurred, and I gave him the intersection we were at. He told me he needed an address and to pull out my phone and get it. Sure no problem - I'm happy to do that. He then makes a comment that I should know traffic rules and laws before coming there. I felt that was totally unnecessary. I just moved into the city a few months ago, and this is the first time I was asked specifically for an address. Wanting to just get this report filed and done with, I gave the officer the address I found. Next, the officer says since it's been a day since the accident, there's a chance the other party in the accident has filed a report already. He said he did not want two reports to be filed and instructed me to contact the other party to ask if he has filed a police report already. The other party was clearly at fault, and they sustained minimal damage to their vehicle. On the other hand, it's clear I will need at least a new bumper put on. I had already filed a claim with their insurance before coming in as well. So I questioned why it was necessary to contact the other driver. I couldn't imagine why the other party would go and file a report already, when they might not need any repairs at all and had already admitted fault. Then, the officer sighs, shakes his head, and tells me it was necessary that we contacted to ask if they had already filed a report. He then said something along the lines of, "here - give me their number. I'll call them if you're too scared to do it." I came for help but instead was bullied by a full grown adult. After that comment, I walked out, because I couldn't take any more of the cruel and unnecessary comments. I decided to make the 30 minute drive back to district 17, and was helped by a different officer than the one I had spoken to the night before. He was able to help me, without complaining or criticizing, and while treating me with the amount of respect and dignity that all people deserve. He was kind, helpful, and patient with me. It was so relieving after the experience I had just had at this station - in lake view. I want to shout out all of the officers at district 17 PD for their friendliness and their willingness to help. That is how you protect and serve the public. I'm so incredibly disappointed with how the officer at the district 19 PD on Addison street handled my request. His attitude and senseless cruelty is harmful to the community he has vowed to serve. Shame on him for his actions today.

While visiting a friend I experienced a "Trip & Fall" event and decided to document the event by generating a Police Report. I opted to avoid a trip to the Hospital E. R. as I was still ambulatory although somewhat shaken up. I went directly to the 012 District at 1412 S. Blue Island as that was the police district where the incident occurred. A civilian aide addressed me and she generated a report to memorialize the event in case an injury should manifest itself later leading to a medical or legal intervention. I requested a copy of the report but the request was denied. I was provided with instructions on how to obtain a copy of the report by purchasing a copy from Police Headquarters. Huh ? Why do I pay taxes ??? A report could have been printed out for free and presented to me while I was there in person. But no , I am to write out a request equal to the report just generated by the civilian aide and mail it along with a check to Police H. Q. requesting a copy of the report be mailed to my home address. Oh well , so much for the "city that works". Must be one of the reasons l left Chicago. Winter is too cold. Taxes are too high. Violent Crime is out of control.
