The State of Illinois does regard cursing at someone reportable if the victim feels threatened or…read moreunsafe. it is unlikely that asking a question to be met with the extreme of cursing is the way a doorman should respond. The job of a Doorman is safety for the residents. Unfortunately the 311 non emergency dispatcher explained he is a Policeman and I do not believe his total explanation nor refusal to consult the specific definitions. If this is a non emergency number I do not think the dispatcher should evaluate probable cause and criminality. My question after 45 minutes on hold was can a police report be made without a last name...he responded "yes." The next step was not necessary as I am the one threatened and he of course, turned it around on the victim. The exchange was 11:51 am, Saturday, December 13th, 2025. Does it take a murder ... ? My escalating incidents from a Doorman took place at 400 N. LaSalle Dr. Since no one seems to listen or consider random escalations of harassment lead to larger escalations of threats and safety concerns to the victim; the name of the Doorman is Dan should anything happen to me or my Service Animal please begin with him.

The officer this morning expressed a smile and concerned of my problem and assured me that this would be the first step and process to file my report. She showed professionalism at all times over the phone and made me feel that my call was as important as any other call, giving me the upmost attention and assurance that the other department would be helpful to my concerns.. Her training and manners as a professional operator showed and for that I am grateful for the great service over the phone. I LIVE IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, but owe property in Chicago. Moved out here 9 years ago. My family thank the men and women of the hard work and dedication as a police officer. We pray that the officers are always protected and safe from harm. GOD BLESS THEM FOR TAKING ON A TOUGH JOB OF OUR SOCIETY.

30 December 2020 Chicago , Illinois…read more I recently moved from Chicago to Florida but returned to Chicago to spend the holidays with friends and family. While visiting a friend I experienced a "Trip & Fall" event and decided to document the event by generating a Police Report. I opted to avoid a trip to the Hospital E. R. as I was still ambulatory although somewhat shaken up. I went directly to the 012 District at 1412 S. Blue Island as that was the police district where the incident occurred. A civilian aide addressed me and she generated a report to memorialize the event in case an injury should manifest itself later leading to a medical or legal intervention. I requested a copy of the report but the request was denied. I was provided with instructions on how to obtain a copy of the report by purchasing a copy from Police Headquarters. Huh ? Why do I pay taxes ??? A report could have been printed out for free and presented to me while I was there in person. But no , I am to write out a request equal to the report just generated by the civilian aide and mail it along with a check to Police H. Q. requesting a copy of the report be mailed to my home address. Oh well , so much for the "city that works". Must be one of the reasons l left Chicago. Winter is too cold. Taxes are too high. Violent Crime is out of control.

I am someone who has always defended our officers; however, with one phone call, this has changed…read moretoday. I filed a police report on 8/13/18 as my wallet was stolen from a Lyft passenger. I called 2 weeks later to find out if a detective was assigned, per instructions. I was told that there would not be a detective assigned as I did not expressly see her take the wallet. I then made my 3rd trip to the main police station to find out what else to do. No help at all. Next, I called 311 for help and was told that while the theft is not considered a theft since I did not see the action. And I should therefore file an identity theft case since she was using my Ventra card (video surveillance is avail on CTA by the way) and attempted to use my credit card at the target across from where she got out of my car (also a lot of video surveillance options). I did this and followed up today for detective support. This is what I was told by an extremely angry person (answered the phone in angry tone from start) - this is the summary, I'm sure it was recorded so can be replayed: She said that they are not going to send this to the field, there is no time to chase every little incident. She further stated that everyone steals. Well that's insulting, I do not steal and I am sure that the vast majority of people reading this do not steal. She told me that I need to be more responsible so that this world of thieves cannot take my things, I said, clearly because CPS apparently is not here to serve or protect me. I have the first name of the criminal from Lyft but I cannot get a last name without a subpoena. The name could easily be matched with the person trying to use my card at Target and to the 5 different ventra stops for which she used my card to travel. I asked why they were feeding into the systemic issue of allowing crimes. When someone gets away with a crime, what do you think are the chances of this person trying a more serious crime each successive time until something tragic actually happens. Shame on you CPD, I cannot even feel safe/comfortable in a Lyft because I know that no one will respond. Now I have to hire a private detective to do the job for the police I am finally starting to understand why there is such a lack of respect for the police in Chicago and I am no longer a cheerleader for them. Respect is not a given, it is earned!
