I'm going to be honest and share that Educare wasn't our first choice. At the time, I thought I wanted something more niche or up with the trends of other types of school styles and we chose Educare because we found them to be the most dual income family friendly with hours starting at 730am-5pm and year round so no need to plan for summer camps. Turns out, Educare was the best decision we could have made for our us and our kids, especially having compared notes with friends from other schools. We started there as early as 22 months- the youngest that they'll take them. Educare has provided so much growth for my kids- both socially and academically. They've grown to speak up for themselves, to work both independently and as a team, to behave appropriately at restaurants, make friends easily at playgrounds, focus on tasks, cope with quiet time, try new things/foods, and transition successfully through various situations and scenarios. The teachers and staff approach everything with such empathy and love- even potty training. My youngest had issues pooping in the potty and it was a long two month journey. Instead of making it my problem, the teachers approached it with patience and worked with my little one until she was fully able to let go of the fear and anxiety. One of my favorite things that Educare does, aside from providing breakfast/snacks/lunch, is celebrate all the various cultural holidays and occasions. They also provide two parent/teacher conferences twice a year- both of which the school stays open vs closed like others. The community of parents and friends we've met have been so special. Lastly, I couldn't have asked for my kiddo to be more prepared for kindergarten. We didn't have to spend time after dinner or before bedtime to help them catch up either emotionally or academically. Educare is such a wonderful school. We had our son at a more strict, more well-known Montessori and it didn't feel right (too sterile, no smiles!) -- then we found Educare and my son has absolutely thrived here. The teachers and staff blend a high degree of learning with fun, they host so many great events to learn about different cultures, and it's a total bonus that the kids learn in both Spanish and English. As we're heading to kindergarten this fall, it's clear that the Educare kids are extremely well prepared to enter kindergarten with confidence. And if you're planning to be in the LCM public schools, it's awesome for the kids to have so many familiar Educare kids at their elementary school. I'm truly grateful that we found Educare and want to spread the word -- they didn't show up as prominently in my original search as some of the preschools with a more 'elite' reputation. But now that I've seen many friends go through many different pre-schools, I can say with confidence that Educare stands out for nurturing and preparing kids for kindergarten -- socially, emotionally and academically. I grew up in the Reed Union School district and recently moved back to Marin. What first caught my attention about Educare was how many families I loved growing up with were now sending their own kids here. After looking into it, I completely understood why. Educare is a full-time preschool in Corte Madera with a Spanish immersion focus and a light Montessori influence. It has been an incredible gift to our family. The teachers are kind, SO kind, attentive, and truly care about each child's growth. Educare is a hidden gem of a preschool tucked away in East Corte Madera. After five amazing years, we're wrapping up our time there, and I can honestly say it's been the best decision for our family. If you're a parent (especially a fellow working mama) looking for that unicorn preschool -- this is it. Educare was designed by the founder for working parents -- open 8 to 5, year-round, and they provide all meals (yes, even breakfast!). It's a bilingual, Montessori-based school where kids learn everything in both English and Spanish. My 3-year-old was counting in Spanish within two weeks of starting! Their toddler program is the sweetest, and the mixed-age preschool model is such a gift. Littles learn from the big kids and later become leaders themselves. Many families have even opted to skip TK because keeping the rhythm, structure and schedule just works. The curriculum is incredibly thoughtful -- our kids are not only prepared academically, but have become confident, independent learners. Even with our son being a July baby, I have zero concerns about him being ready for kinder this fall. The teachers are warm, loving, wonderful humans -- truly like family -- and they share their diverse cultures and interests with the children. We started here in 2020 with our daughter and are now sending off our son to kindergarten with full hearts (and some tears). Bonus: it's one of the more affordable options out there, especially for year-round care. No scrambling for summer coverage! We had a great experience with Educare. I had two kids, one in the toddler classroom who has sinced moved to the PreSchool Classroom, and another who started in the PreSchool Classroom. My kids loved their teachers and loved learning there. I was often shocked to find my kids coming home telling me what they learned in Science or math, that my 5 year old's handwriting was better than mine, and that my 2 or 3 year old could list off all of the planets in the solar system. They also have an excellent Spanish program. We chose Educare for the hours and the meal program (because I didn't have it in my to make pasta for lunch 5 days a week). In short: great curriculum, happy kids, lots of learning. The icing on the cake to our experience was the community of moms/parents that we met. It was a really special and social group and many of us keep in touch for playdates or to coordinate camps for the kids to meet up long after they leave Educare. read more

I cannot adequately describe how much I love Educare for our 4 year old daughter. We've been there a year and cannot believe the emotional and educational leaps and bounds she's experienced. They are cultivating all of the best parts of her and helping her grow beautifully. The teachers are warm, kind, fun and firm and the structure of the program is great. We have been with educare for 4+ years, 2 children from start to finish and have absolutely loved our experience. The teachers and staff are wonderful. My daughter was so prepared for kindergarten, it was a breeze for her. The parent teacher conferences are so thorough and informative. My daughter has thrived since joining Educare! The teachers are incredibly well organized and keep a consistent class schedule. They pay close attention to each child and provide constant feedback to parents. Classrooms are kept clean, toys are in low shelves for kids to play with and the walls are decorated nicely. The outdoor playground is equally as beautiful! Other than excellent educators and a healthy environment, I've found the schedule to work very well for working parents (they are open more days a year than most preschools). As another plus, the school provides meals for children. They also include Spanish in their curriculum. In addition, children have the option of taking optional extracurricular classes (karate, soccer, art) on site. You know your child is happy when they feel excited to go to school every morning and nothing makes a parent feel better. I am truly fortunate to have found Educare! Presenting a five star review to Educare does not do its justice with how phenomenal my experience has been with not only the staff and the curriculum, but with Rosanna herself. My son has been attending Educare for the past 2.5 years, accelerating his intellectual ability to read, write, and work with mathematical numbers. All appreciation due to the determination, dedication and consistency of this program. Educare has engraved knowledge beyond expectations and implemented behaviors a child should perceive both at home and school. Coming from a single mother stand point, Educare staff has played a huge role in the growth of my child. On a daily basis, I receive updates on how my son portrays himself at school. If for any reason, concerns do arise, Educare's teachers are highly knowledgeable in their due diligence to provide solutions. Given that they tend to a number of children, they always consider to put the time and effort into my own. Added on top of daily updates, I receive weekly emails of photos taken specifically of my son to show play time with other children, presenting the techniques practiced, and school celebrations that take place - you never miss a moment! Ms. Alondra (Ant's Room) - Provided her outstanding nurturing abilities to my son in his beginning years. Her positive intentions allowed him to comfortably show up to school and leave school feeling wanted, needed, and most importantly, cared for. This gave me that sense of security every time I dropped him off. Mr. Andy (One of my son's current teachers) - Continues to go above and beyond to ensure Educare's values are instilled. This is proven by the striking information my son has gained in the matter of the last year! From learning an array of cultural living around the world, to the teachings of shapes I have never even heard of myself! He has displayed himself to be a great leader, and role model. Rossana - Outside of my son's learning and relationship with his teachers, Rossana has and continues to wear the true definition of selflessness. Her understanding and willingness to work around, schedule changes, life changes and most importantly, to the well-being of my son, has made the years that much more compatible. Her heart sits proudly on her sleeve, distinguishing herself through the compassion she shares towards parents - myself included. For those whose paths cross with Educare's, Rossana does nothing but live up to the expectations that are interpreted. As the director, the safe and trustworthy space she has created, is the rhyme and reason as to why I highly recommend this place to all. I'm so lucky to find Educare and caring administration led by Rossana, that I may end up writing for long. I agree with all the positive comments given by proud parents here, but I'd like to add here that the kind of care that your little one gets as an individual is much better that what I've seen across east coast and west coast for my elder one(who is 8 yrs now) and little one(who is 2 yrs 5 months now and currently enjoying,learning, growing there), is far superior and no comparison can be made. My grandson Keali'i has been going to this daycare for well over 2 years now, this review is LONG overdue since he will be starting kindergarten soon and, undoubtedly, way ahead of the mark. He had to make a huge culture adjustment and family change having moved from his "home" Hawaii. Let's first talk about empathy, my daughter and my experience with Rosanna has been the absolute best. During some tough times, Rosanna has more than accommodated some hardships and ensured Kea kept on track and showed zero affect on exterior challenges being experienced. Quality of care, not once has Kea ever come home "unhappy"... grumpy from being tired and mentally challenged but never unhappy. He has maintained his smiles and positive energy throughout his entire experience which that in itself says quite a bit. The teachers show the "maternal" care needed especially during a long day at school. I've witnessed teachers being attentive showing all kids, especially ones who obviously are distraught. Kea is stepping away from the daycare speaking better Spanish that I can, incredible in math problems, socially capable and responsible, and knowing he has been shown the love and care he has needed to grow. Rossana, he director / owner of the school, is hands down amazing. I love that she is caring and nurturing and a great partner with the parents. She looks at each child as an individual and works with the parents and teachers to make sure each child has what they need to thrive. She is incredibly supportive, flexible and amazing. The teachers at the school are also fabulous. Every single one of the teachers are so great with the kids - kind and caring - and you can see they love their job and the children. One of my favorite things about this school is the diversity. I love there are male and female teachers. I love that the kids are learning Spanish and surrounded by native and non-native Spanish speakers. I love that the class make up is diverse too - some children speak another language other than Spanish at home. The parent community is so friendly. Drop off and pick up - everyone is speaking to each other and chatting. The kids are amazing. Every kid learns who's mommy or daddy you are. They speak to the parents. They are polite and well-mannered, but still goofy and fun. I love that the school has a curriculum director. I like that they host parent workshops to help bridge the learning philosophy's of Montessori with what parents are doing at home. I like that they do parties and events for the kids and parents (Mothers Day / Fathers Day programs, Halloween and Holiday parties) and field trips to the pumpkin patch, etc. I love the Montessori philosophy and how the kids are learning geography, music, art history and core values. The classes are divided in the morning (Toddlers and Preschoolers) and in the afternoon they are combined. I love that the older students help "teach" the younger students and see this as part of their role at school. I love that the school environment mixes Montessori and fun. The class rooms are not completely sterile like a super conservative Montessori program. They have a fun "ball room" with mats and tumbling space. They have fun murals on the wall, etc and a whole play space. It is just a perfect mix, in my mind. I love that they offer extra classes for a super reasonable fee - soccer, gymnastics, yoga, ballet, and creative movement (dance + art). I brought my son to Educare when he was 5 years old. He had been struggling in a very-well reputed play based preschool program that did not provide him with enough structure and sense of safety. In a matter of just 6 weeks at Educare, my son made huge progress: his behavior became more calm and he was able to act with more maturity, clarity and self-awareness within the Educare program. I have had the great pleasure of continuing to know Rossana Broll, the Director of Educare over the last number of years. I can say unequivocally that Rossana is devoted to the emotional health, education and well-being of all the children in her program. She is committed with love to each child in her care, and maintains the highest standards of safety, consistency, ethics and training available in a childcare setting. We had a wonderful experience at Educare for the 3 years that my daughter attended. Aside from the healthy lunches provided, flexible/extended hours for working parents and reasonable prices - the staff and director Rossana were extremely professional, nurturing to our children, supportive whenever any concerns arose and there was a great community feel encouraged by the school. Professional: If there was a child that seemed to have behavioral problems (which there always is at any school), then the matters were taken very seriously and the parents were involved to improve the situation. We trusted the teachers enough to have them babysit for us in our own home. We also loved that learning Spanish was one of their core enrichment programs. An evaluation of our child was provide that was very thorough and showed that they were very attentive to her needs and knew what would work best with her personality. Nurturing: Preschool years are a tough separation time for parent and child - my daughter hardly ever had problems at drop off and was excited and eager to attend. This is due to the warm and caring staff whom she felt very comfortable with. Flexible and Supportive: My daughter sometimes had difficulty napping so they made sure that she had activities to keep her busy and learn during this time. I know at other schools if your child is not able to nap then you have to pick them up during this time - so I appreciated that they made accommodations for my child as well as a couple of others. Community Feel: When we attended, the school provided complimentary weekend seminars throughout the year on various topics for parenting advise/skills that proved very useful and brought the school community together. We also had field trips for the parents to attend and get to know each other better. Halloween was one of my favorite events at the school with the adorable parade and everyone in attendance. read more

If you have a child of color (specifically a black child) and/or a boy and/or a child who does not always fit the Montessori mold (i.e. energetic and does not always nap), this is NOT the place for your child. After two months, my son, who came in nearly potty trained, had completely gone back to diapers because of the way he was treated there. I found Rosanna and some of her teachers to be rude, dismissive, blaming, and to lack basic knowledge of what reasonable expectations should be for children at various ages. They interpreted very normal 2.5 year old behavior (nothing beyond struggling to nap and not staying in circle time all the time) as problematic. In speaking with other parents at the school, they echo similar concerns about Rosanna. Beware. There are much better schools out there. Edited to add that Rosanna's response below reinforces my comments above. There are Latina teachers at the school, but very little diversity beyond that. The values in our home include treating all living beings with respect, having strict but fair rules that protect our home and each other, a love of learning and collaboration, quality time spent with loved ones, etc. I agree that those don't seem to jive with the values at Educare. With regard to diversity, I think it is fair to wonder why the only black male child's behavior is interpreted so much differently than much more severe behaviors of the non children of color in the school. Stating that they embrace diversity and equating that with a loss of income to the school reinforces the false stereotype that children of color come from poor homes. My family, along with a number of other families and the head teacher of the 2-3yr room just parted ways with this school. We started at Educare about 9 months ago and at first I felt lucky to have stumbled across this school - it was in a convenient location, lunch was provided, they offer full time hours, and rates were reasonable (though she hasn't updated the rates listed on the website since the school opened in 2009 so don't be misled by that). However, over time I started to have doubts about this being the best place for our daughter, and eventually those doubts were confirmed. Some really unfortunate events took place that left me no choice but to start looking at other neighboring preschools, something I should have done from day one. I was blown away by how wonderful some other local schools are in comparison - the level of care, the level of commitment from the directors, the level of teacher quality, the values, and the whole package. I learned a lot by asking the school's how long the head teachers have been there (if they've only been there a short time, ask more questions on reasons for turnover and ask for staff resumes) - teacher tenure should be a quick check on how happy they are with their experience at the school, and can be a reflection on the attention and care they give the children. Educare is an OK option for full time working parents who are looking for a basic daycare for their child (and even then, there are better options out there). It is NOT a place where the director is interested in parental involvement and collaboration, particularly if you have any suggestions or concerns about the way the school is run. And unfortunately, my experience proved to me that the director does not place the safety and well-being of your child among her priorities, and this was reason enough for me to leave. In touring other neighboring schools it has been made it so clear to me that there are far better options out there in Corte Madera for my child. So I'm encouraging parents do their homework before you settle on the first school you visit. read more

Our son recently moved from daycare to preschool. Prior to making our decision I visited and toured 12 different preschools. They ranged from small in home schools to large preschools of almost 100 children. They varied in teaching styles from Montessori, to play based to language immersion. In the end what I knew was I needed a school that set my child up for success based on his personality. The point is not every schools will be right for every child. We decided in Educare and have been duly impressed with the attention to detail, open communication and positive learnings we are seeing in our son. In this day of social media I find I love and hate the Internet. It is such an amazing tool to learn and find information and yet sadly it has also fostered the degradation of civility. Anyone, without sensor, can get on and have a good rant. I hear about the children and cyber bullying and I wonder how can they possibly not know this is so wrong? And then it dawned on me they learn it from their parents. read more

I sent both of my boys to Educare for more than 4 years and it more than saddens me to see the negative reviews recently posted. Our experience with Educare was nothing short of spectacular. My boys absolutely LOVED the school and my oldest was more than prepared for kindergarten. We only experienced amazingly supportive, nurturing teachers, a wonderful community of families, a curriculum that instills a deep passion for learning and a value-based approach that mirrors the values we teach at our home. Educare is FABULOUS! Rosanna, the director is kind, flexible, easy to communicate with, and very understanding. As a teacher myself, I was very selective on where to send my son when researching preschools. Educare surpassed our expectations! The curriculum is amazing, combining academics with social-emotional learning. The teachers are patient, creative, and engaging. My son would come home talking about Picasso and Beethoven. He would participate in music, movement, and yoga. In addition, he learned Spanish, developed a love for arts and crafts, nature, studied different regions of the world; and learned to write his numbers and letters. He graduated from Educare a few months ago, learning to read, and is more than prepared for Kindergarten. An additional bonus, breakfast, lunch, and nutritious snacks are provided throughout the day! We needed to start our 2 year-old son in preschool mid-year last December and feel very fortunate to have found Educare through chance word-of-mouth. Rosanna and her staff worked with us to transition our son gradually two days a week in November before he started full time in December. I've loved the convenience of having all meals provided and that there's been a strong Spanish language component in the program, continuing the exposure my son had previously with a Spanish-speaking au pair for the first two years of his life. Our son's teachers (in the Ants classroom) worked with us in the beginning when it was hard for him to separate at drop-off and now he greets his teachers with hugs each morning. I love getting a weekly email digest of pictures of what our son has been up to at school. We've made a difficult decision to switch our son to a preschool in our neighborhood for logistic and community reasons, but I know he would have been well cared for and well prepared for kindergarten if we were to stay at Educare. For more reasons than I've had time to list, we've had a great experience at Educare, are sad to be leaving in August and full heartedly recommend it to others. read more

Educare is a wonderful children's center. My daughter has gone to Educare for 2 years and has had a great experience there. She has learned and grown so much from the nurturing and encouraging environment that the center provides. The staff is very kind and dedicated to the children, and the Director of the school is extremely understanding and helpful. The school is well cared for and very clean and tidy. Our daughter has been at Educare for 9 months and we couldn't be happier. Rossana and the team of teachers are very caring and plan a great curriculum for the children. Our daughter is excited to go to school every day, comes home with all sorts of new knowledge that she did not learn from us at home -- these results are my primary barometer. The staff works hard to communicate with the parents, provide extra-curricular activities and has a few outside partners that come for elective classes (gymnastics, soccer, dance, yoga, etc). I cannot express how much we have loved having our son at Educare. The team is incredibly hard-working, sensitive and supportive. Ask to see the progress report they create for their kids. It is the best freaking report card ever and the teachers go above and beyond and are so dedicated to the kids. Our son has been there since he was ~3 years old and now is in Kindergarten there (6 yrs old). He is incredibly well prepared for 1st grade not just academically but also with "executive" skills like being able to put on his shoes, jacket, do buttons, tie a knot, etc. The school also very focused on teaching the kids themselves rather than pushing back on parents to fill gaps. My wife and I both work full time and have an older child as well. Educare is great with a consistent schedule and options for earlier dropoffs and later pickups. Our other son went to another preschool in Marin that was +5x more expensive, had a way less accommodating schedule (tons of "teacher training" days, holidays, early releases, etc.) and when we would show up for teacher meetings, they would tell us all of the things we needed to teach our child. We are happy to teach them and love that, but we do view the job of a school as teaching the kids! Educare is 100% the opposite of our experience with this other place and we cannot recommend them more highly. Thank you thank you for all of your hard work Educare team! Pros: inexpensive, full time hours, provides lunch, relatively clean space, extracurricular activities (additional cost) Cons: chaotic environment, kids pushing and hitting each other without a teacher noticing (on many occasions), one teacher has also recently been shoving kids, kids unaccounted for at field trips, no real 'community' with other parents, little to no actual learning - most of the day is playing. We were sucked in by the convenience that the school offered for us as parents and our tour was during the one hour that kids are doing 'work time'. This is not an accurate portrayal of the majority of the day. When we had the chance to observe the environment and the way kids are treated/allowed to treat each other it became clear that the things our daughter was learning about respect for others is not aligned with our values as a family. Bottom line, don't get sucked in by the price and convenience. These are the most important years of your child's development and there are much better options out there for them. read more

My oldest daughter attended Educare from the age of 2 to 5. The level of education, attention and social development was amazing. She was an early reader, loves math and has a creative side, which we attribute all to Educare and her teachers. I have and will continue to speak highly of Educare. Our daughter, Hannah, attended Educare for 3 years until 2012. The teachers were warm and loving. The curriculum well-prepared her for Kinder. Close to 10. 5. *Has WONDERFUL teachers who not only love the kids but are great educators.* We have been with Educare for over two years now, and I am forever grateful for the care and education that they have provided for my girls. The director, Miss Rossana, sends out monthly emails that detail what the kids are focusing their time on like painters and composers (wow!). Mr. Andy has helped my oldest begin to read, and Miss BeBe has been a calming force for my two year old, who needs all the calm she can get. Our son has been at Educare for 2 years, and we have been thrilled with the school. The faculty and staff have been unbelievably accommodating, flexible and supportive throughout our time. We have met some wonderful, grounded families and built a sense of community through Educare. At first we were drawn to Educare by convenience: location, schedule, pricing, rolling enrollment and a food program. Upon visiting, we found the campus was lovingly and immaculately cared for. In learning more about the program, it offered a nice balance of structure and play, which felt like a good fit for our son. We also noticed more diversity than we noted at many other preschools in the area. We found at Educare there were many other families with two working parents, and it gave us some comfort knowing our child would not be the first drop off and last pick up every day. After a few weeks at the school, we noticed the impact of the program. Our son started asking if he could please be excused from the dinner table and cleared his plate without being asked, we noticed new interest in reading and math, counting in the backseat as we drove places and "reading" to himself at home. The school also brought a lot of enrichment programs to the campus, which is so helpful. Our son has a chance to do a soccer program and gymnastics program, all while we are at work. In our two years, we've found the staff was professional, the program well run, communication clear and fluid, and the teachers caring. In our conferences, the teachers have painted a picture of our son that is spot on with what we see at home. They see his strengths and are actively working on areas of challenge so he will grow and improve. I was not recruited to write this review. I am writing out of genuine respect and gratitude for this school. Recently, I saw there was one especially accusatory, aggressive negative review posted. I hope the review of this disgruntled parent who has gone out of her way to launch a smear campaign will not be a heavy influence as it does not reflect the general experience. As a parent, we read Yelp reviews about schools before choosing one. Hopefully our review and others like it emphasize the anomalous nature of this parent's experience. Both of my girls recently attended Educare--the youngest leaving for kindergarten in the fall. My girls were very happy there and more than prepared for kindergarten! I always felt that they made the children, their learning, and their safety the number one priority. They go out of their way to help the growth of each child. Rossana, the Director, puts so much thought and care into every aspect of the school--the great teachers, the clean and spacious facilities, and all of the learning activities. They even held classes for the parents to learn what they teach to help at home. They have helped me to be a better parent. I was constantly amazed at what my girls would do and learn daily. This review is long overdue but very well deserved. We were at Educare from December 2013- July 2019 and all 3 of my children have gone through and graduated from there. My eldest started there when he was 4 and my other two started there when they were 2. I can say that the staff and the education are top-notch. Rossana and her staff (Mr. Andy, Ms. Laura, Ms Katya, and Ms. Estella to name a few) do an amazing job of balancing an educational curriculum with music, art history, math ,identification of letters, and reading all of which is tailored to the child's abilities. They provide them with lunch they take them on all these amazing field trips and they even have extracurricular activities like soccer that they will take the kids to. My husband and I are full-time working parents with zero flexibility as physicians and we really appreciate how much our children grew and were treated like family at this school. read more

Educare recently has been cited by Community Care Licensing for accepting children under the age of 2 (an age it was not licensed to care for), violation of children's personal rights- multiple injuries to children, and for non reporting. You may verify these violations by calling CCL at (650) 266-8843 (sadly CA has not yet developed an on-line system). While the school was under investigation (which began last November), the owner took to Yelp to deny any problems with the school, to deny any licensing violations, and to accuse the parents who voiced negative reviews of making "inflammatory" and "inaccurate" statements. The owner also claimed that she "meets or exceeds" licensing standards. She also apparently recruited former parents, some whose children haven't attended in years, to write 5-star reviews (and to even call out the negative reviewers). At this young age your child has limited communication skills, and cannot tell you what really goes on all day while you are at work. That is why it is imperative to chose a school that has an excellent licensing/safety record and whose first priority is the health and well-being of your child. Do your homework, call CCL. read more
