In that time, my family was told that they owed OVER $169,000.00 for federal tax returns and OVER $28,000.00 for state tax returns and I didn't even include amounts due from 2010 returns because I don't have them readily available. After switching to an EA (Enrolled Agent), we amended 3 years of taxes (I wish we could have amended more) and received refunds for overpayment of $36,726.98 from the government and $15,095 from the state of California ($51,821.98 total). Additionally, they charged us over $1,000 each year to process our taxes. Our new EA only charges us $490 each year. DO NOT USE PENINSULA ACCOUNTING!
