Moving here from a small town in Oklahoma my parents made me tour every single private school in…read moreOKC. Every school we toured each had their own pros and cons but no high school had that good "warm at home" feeling that you left wanting more as this place did for me. Principal David Morton greets anyone and everyone who walks through his building with open arms. The structure and administration of this community truly care about the benefit of their students. While I attended here several years ago, I remember taking a required financial class while at the time I thought was nuts, it really does expose you to many different situations that you will be needing to learn at some point or another. The exposure every student gets here is amazing. Another important note is that while I attended here I was not catholic. Not once did I feel pressured to become catholic or judged/viewed any differently for being another religion. Mass is required every Friday once a month here. To me, everything was a learning experience and even though I wasn't catholic I felt religion class helped me learn more about my faith and other religions. Back on academics, just google this school and their scores - it's nothing but successful. I can't wait to send my son here proudly someday and appreciate knowing the fact that he is getting a wonderful education that will help prep him for college and for life long experiences.

My sister-in-law attended high school here, as have scads of my friends and colleagues…read more I'm not a religious man, but am a huge fan of the liberal arts education offered at Mt. St. Mary's. The student body is diverse, as well, and that's a huge bonus in a world filled with pig ignorant tribalism and sheer bigotry. The old school nuns who once ran the attached convent and the school itself are, I'm sure, almost entirely gone. (Is the Oklahoma City archdiocese now in control of things? I'm genuinely curious.)

My advice is, do not send your children here. The administration is full of people that do not care…read moreabout your child's success, only about covering their own behinds, and will lie to do so. A select group of teachers routinely fail students, pick favorites, and grade unfairly. Some administrators have an elitest way of looking down on people that don't donate huge sums of money to the school. Rude and superficial. Everything is about how it "looks" and not how it actually is. Many of the students actively use drugs and somehow don't get caught. Students get away with violating dress code with skirts so short you can see everything you shouldn't. Cheating routinely takes place among students and academic dishonesty can be bought off too. Bullying is severe for some students and the school does nothing to stop it. Athletes receive special treatment and grades they did not earn. Administration says summer course work is accredited, charges $600 for a course but later does not allow credit toward graduation to be received for it. Personally looking forward to getting my children away from this place, not only for them, but for my own peace. I cannot wait to get us all as far away as possible from these snobs. More than $15,000 tuition per student per year, and only slightly less cost for "participating" Catholics. Other religions' members can attend but they pay more. Not sure if that is an excuse to charge more or if it is the cost of tolerance, but discrimination is wrong! They do not care.

Taft, home of the Royals, was my middle school. I have mixed feeling about the experience at Taft…read more This was a time when I was slowly transitioning out of ESL into non ESL classes. English was particularly difficult for me and writing was challenging. I remember reading literature but could not understand the story. It was easier for me for me to memorize the definitions of vocabulary words rather to understand what they mean. It was a nightmare. Kids at this age can be so unkind to each other, calling each other names. I often witnessed this at Taft as I often hang out with a few other "outcasts." You feel hopeless as you are unable to defend others because you don't want to be made fun of as well. I did not like this aspect of Taft. I loved the ESL classes though because it was a safe haven for me. I felt protected when I was there but the education was lacking. Seriously, we were learning really simple things, like dumb down science and English. To get out, you have to do an evaluation. It was really easy. They made you read a paragraph; mine was about salmons swimming upstream to lay eggs. Then they would ask you why did the salmons swim upstream. Taft has the best architectural design of all middle schools in the OKC metro, something I still marveled to this day. It resembles a medieval castle. It also has a huge stadium where games are being played, none of which I have attended the time I was there.
