They also send incessant "fun" emails that have no relevance to the function of the building and are a waste of time that you cannot unsubscribe from (I have made over 6 attempts to do so and I'm still getting them). There is absolutely no base for such a greedy increase of over 21%. Overall, the office staff are wholly unprofessional and the business is gluttonous. Their only saving grace is the efficiency of the building manager and location of the building.

One of the managers came to inspect my home to see if he could smell cigarette smoke (I have three air purifiers going on full at all times) and he told me I shouldn't live in a condo if I'm so sensitive. Imagine someone coming into your home and telling you you shouldn't live there because your neighbour refuses to be civilized and smoke outside OR get an air purifier. Unfortunately, nothing about smoking being allowed in units is present in any of the condo documents I was provided with prior to purchase. Had I known this disgusting practice was allowed, and that the management company would do nothing to protect the majority owners and tenants who are NON smokers, and don't care about the physical damage done to the building by tobacco smoke, I'd never have purchased this condo, especially considering the response from "management". The lack of transparency about smoking allowed in units is wrong and unethical. If she wants to smoke on her unit she should be taking the precautions you've apparently asked her to take so disgusting tobacco smoke doesn't infiltrate all the units that connect to hers, which has also been confirmed by you that it does. I took reasonable efforts to deal with the stink of smoke before I complained - she should be expected to be equally reasonable. I'm not the only person to complain about smoking, either.

To start i had the mushroom soup. Piping hot, big 1/4 chunks of diced mushrooms with a velvety cream base. On the last day of summer I had the seasonal salad that followed the soup. Mixed greens, small bites of crunchy watermelon, feta cheese with a balsamic vinaigrette. The salad was refreshing with great tones of summer, great texture with the soft cheese and crunchy watermelon. Next was the main event, the ribs and shrimp. I got a large portion (1/2 rack), smothered in a smokey and tangy BBQ sauce. The meat was falling off the bones. I've been too many rib restaurants and these by far were the best I've ever had. Paired with the ribs were 5 large butterflied shrimp, with a light and crispy batter. Served of course with fresh lemon and cocktail sauce. My vegetable was a large sweet corn on the cob that was massaged in butter. I also got a large baked potato with sour cream, onions and real bacon. This was by far one of the best dinners of my life, and it's still not over. For dessert I had the whipped cream cheese pear mousse. Light and fluffy, just sweet enough. The only downside was the pear tasted like they were out of a can and not fresh. Next time your visiting grandma and grandpa at the retirement community make sure you go there on the Thursday night for rib night. You won't be disappointed. The windows would sweat so much the drywall was soft and bubbling all around it. A simple tap on the window and it would have fallen three stories to the ground. There was also a large amount of mold growing around the window inside the drywall. When someone from towers finally came after many calls complaining about this mold, they told me it was my fault the suite was so humid because of "all my house plants I'm obviously over watering". They obviously don't know how house plants work because I have two small plants and if they were over watered they would be dead. Also I heard from other tenants they had the same problem with moister so not sure how my two house plants are affecting them as well. Then I found out the balcony was completely rotten and I could have fallen through at anytime which lead to an eviction due to risk of safety and I was stuck looking for somewhere else to live by the end of the month. Towers did nothing to accommodate this inconvenience and I was lucky to find something on such short notice. They then renovated the suites and now charged almost twice the price. The family was making 3200 plus 700 dollars per month in this amount even banks would accept the application for loan where as manager thinks its too low and he rejected it. Secondly he keep asking for SIN number but isn't it supposed to be optional. If he is dealing in this manner in front of me i can easily see why my apartment is not getting subleased by now. I can now easily imagine how things are done, as they are getting rent from me, top management of the company don't care. On another side i asked the manager to get my apartment painted because when i moved into the apartment it wasn't and company was unable to get it painted before i moved in, which they are supposed to do. The heat stopped working twice and I was given a small space heater until they could fix it in the middle of winter. They they give notices for spraying for bedbugs and cockroaches and to not stay for a long amount of time in the common areas because of the chemicals. This is no way to live. They have had many property managers leave / quit / demoted over the years…read more The buildings are dirty, overflowing waste containers outside several of their buildings and the cleaners spend all day chatting / gossiping instead of actually cleaning their buildings. Tenants who make noise / break rules do not ever get any punishment - they are allowed to do what they want; especially the ones who are on Welfare. Some tenants smoke weed INSIDE their apartments, without any penalty even after being reported to Thorwen many times. (specific apartments have been reported at 2 different properties - NOTHING was done to the tenants). It is an immediate "termination of lease" BUT.. if you are on welfare or get your rent paid by a subsidy - you can do whatever you want. The management will turn a blind eye. The people who work hard all day and try to rest are constantly disturbed by loud obnoxius tenants above them - nothing is done to resolve this issue - ever - laundry gets stolen out of the shared laundry rooms and nothing is ever done. It gets reported - and then nothing is done to follow up. Tenants can run wild, be noisy at all hours of the day and night (as they don't work - why do they care about others in their building?) smoke weed inside their apartment - knowing they can get away with it. Especially if they are on welfare. Guaranteed rent money from our government. So why let them leave? Let them ruin the peace of hard working people who actually have jobs and work all day every day. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE PLACE - things get worse NEVEER better - this has been reported for several of their properties - Downtown and in the South area have been the worse reported for lack of cleanliness and tenants not following rules.

One thing I will give them credit for is being pet-friendly--which, let's be real, is a rare find in Winnipeg. That said, don't get too excited if your fur baby is on the fluffier side--they're a bit strict when it comes to weight limits. Apparently, a few extra pounds is a dealbreaker.
