We then sought a second opinion from Scotdrain who fixed the problem on their first visit in 45 minutes for £175.00 inclusive of VAT. Would not recommend to anyone to allow this company to even provide a quotation as they will use pressure selling tactics and false promises to secure work they are not capable of doing.

Since then, I've found out he had already gone insolvent in June 2020 and had been expelled from the Federation of Master Builders (FMB). I would strongly recommend anyone thinking of using Iain Martin to look at a Facebook page called 'Edinburgh C0wboy Builders' and search for him and his business - it's a long list of victims. My project was to knock two rooms into one and add patio doors, along with some other internal works. My problems started when Iain Martin invoiced me for materials such as steelwork, patio doors, doors, windows, heating and electrical supplies. Nothing unusual and all within the quote, so I paid. But as the work stalled and deadlines were missed, he blamed the suppliers or Covid and found any excuse to divert attention. It all sounded so feasible. My suspicions grew, so I called some of his suppliers and found that orders had never been placed or suppliers were not doing business with Iain Martin because they hadn't been paid for earlier work. Iain and his 'Account Manager' do not have the slightest grasp of decent project management, effective (or polite) communication, client service or managing peoples money honestly I cannot emphasis enough that he should be avoided and I would recommend everyone reads the various links online. As I hear from other victims, it is clear this is not an isolated case and is a very common way he operates. Despite long negotiations and discussions over the past year, including Court Action, he has not repaid what is owed and I remain significantly out of pocket - as do many of his other victims.

Don't like to leave a bad review, however Restoration Plaster (Mark) has put us through hell over…read morethe past 8 months. He did various work in our property including replacing our living room ceiling and installing new cornice - the old ceiling was taken down in February, and the work has only just been finished in October. This has meant that we haven't been able to use it for in excess of half a year. He consistently told us he would be there to finish the job, and it would be done 'this week', then never turned up. I think his record for not showing up was 4 times in one week... I advised that I would be claiming money back through VISA as the work was not finished after 7 months and we were constantly being let down, at this point Mark called aggressively shouting and swearing advising that he wanted the cornice back he had installed, then hung up (despite the fact that we had paid for it). Someone else who worked with Mark then got in touch saying they would come round to finish the work which happened after about another 2 weeks. I spent a full day cleaning up the mess left behind, with two trips to the skip, and now we have started painting, we can see that the cornice is not straight (despite a new ceiling being put in), there are several cracks and imperfections in the cornice, and some of the cornice joints are very noticeable.
