If you do not have an HR person, they can come out to help with anything you might need - recruitment, employee handbook, staff training, you name it. If you do have an HR person, they are still a wonderful organization to belong to because they can assist with any of the more tricky issues (legal woes, FLMA, worker's comp, discrimination, etc.), and provide ongoing training and support. My boss used them before he hired me to help him handle many of the HR functions of our organization, and once I came on board they helped us to develop our HR department and continue to provide aid whenever we need it. They have an "HR Hotline" when you have a question about employment law or other odd issues. They offer a yearly HR conference and a yearly Employment Law conference right here in the burbs, and both are fantastic. Also, check out their Training list for seminars held all throughout the year on numerous HR topics. This place is such a great asset for any organization!

If you are a job seeker, I do not recommend working with staffing agencies for a few reasons. Let's get into a few problems with this one in particular. Most of these reasons are applicable to the other agencies out there. First, this staffing agency asks for sensitive information before you are certain you have a job. When I came for the interview, they asked for my social security card and bank account number. This made me very uncomfortable, considering I was not assured a position. A few days after meeting with the recruiter, I followed up about the job I interviewed for. He said the job was "on hold" but the company really liked my resume. Sure... Shortly after that, he said the job had been filled by an internal candidate. Ultimately, that seems to be how it goes at most companies. A series of interviews are conducted with external candidates. In the meantime, an internal candidate has been selected. In a way, I can't fault this staffing agency for that. The recruiter seemed transparent, but all he really wanted was to enter me into the big database of job candidates. I worked with this agency months ago and have not been contacted with any further job leads.

When I was just getting out of college I worked with staffing agencies and the experience was…read morehorrible. I was blessed enough to start a successful career on my own but now I am looking to change directions and I find myself going through the job search process again. As anyone who is currently in the process of looking for their next position knows, this is not a fun activity. I thought back to my experience with staffing agencies and I was reluctant to go down that avenue again. I am thrilled that I did. I applied for a job that I was interested in and was called by Theophany Staffing for an interview. I went with low expectations but was absolutely blown away. I had the pleasure of being interviewed and coached by Erika S. She went far beyond the roll of a recruiter and had me extremely well prepared for interviews. She took the time to go over my background and concisely highlight my career path to best speak to the employer I was targeting. She followed up with me often and kept me informed through the entire process. So many people on here say, "I wish I could rate less than one star but they force you to use one." I wish they had a way to rate more than five stars. Erika would deserve an extra star. If you are checking reviews on staffing companies, you are probably job searching. I would highly recommend Erika and Theophany Staffing.

I am not one for leaving negative online reviews. I am a conscientious person who strongly believes…read morein karma. My experience at Theophany Staffing was not good. From the moment I arrived there, the setup was strange where there's a conjoined round table consisting of all Caucasian women. I came in for my interview on time, but I had to wait until they finished their group discussions about other people that they have interviewed which could have been discussed when I wasn't there. During the hour-long interview, I can't help but notice that this agency is "religion-based" (Evangelical Christian). I am a practicing Catholic, but I felt that we should be focusing more on my skills, professional/educational backgrounds, and potentials. It was so cringy as I felt like I was getting recruited to be a part of a ministry or cult. Also, I felt so uncomfortable getting interviewed while there are several conversations going on in the background. I tried to follow up with two of their associates and I never heard back from them which is a blessing in disguise as I would have not been a good fit and I personally wouldn't be happy in the long run. In all honesty this is not a reputable agency, and the Department of Labor should probably look into their practice. For someone who has a background in Human Resources, in my opinion, an agency should practice fairness and equity and Theophany Staffing missed the mark.
