Grassroots Natural Market in Jacksonville might be the most gloriously hippie health-food store…read moreI've ever set foot in. You can smell it before you're even through the door. Not in a bad way, but in that unmistakable health-food-store aroma that tells you there are herbs, oils, supplements, organic everything, and probably someone blending wheatgrass in the back with spiritual conviction. I walked in thinking I'd grab a couple of health bars or maybe a smoothie, and suddenly I found myself in what felt like a live-action documentary about modern hippie culture. Real hippies. I'm talking long dreads, natural fabrics, calm serene smiles, and an energy that says they own a crystal collection and know each crystal by name. The vibe inside was amazing. Everyone looked like they were on their own personal wellness quest, floating around the aisles with purpose, shopping carts full of things I didn't even know existed. I felt like I needed to level up spiritually just to stand near the kombucha section. And the café area had this cozy, earthy coolness to it that almost convinced me to sit down and contemplate the meaning of life over a smoothie bowl. The whole experience was wild in the best possible way. Grassroots Natural Market wasn't just a store that day. It was a full-on immersion into the hippie heart of Jacksonville, and honestly, it was fabulous.

Tammie was truly amazing, patiently explaining all of the bureaucratic monstrosity that is the American health care system, from HMOs to Medicare. She was highly knowledgeable, resourceful, and extremely personable. I honestly don't know what I would have done without her; she walked me through all the steps I needed to get the home care set up and was compassionate about the many obstacles I faced due to my father's terrible HMO. She helped me with getting my dad into his primary care and assisted me with all the steps needed to get his home health referral. The rest of the staff at Choice Matters is also excellent; my dad loved his physical therapist, Allen, who helped him get back on his feet, literally. My dad is a misanthropic curmudgeon who doesn't like most people, but he looked forward to his visits with Allen and was able to walk again with his support. The name of the agency really reflects that "Choice Matters" when you choose a caregiver. I highly recommend!

You always worry about getting "lost in the sauce" with all the other patients and providers but I have had the exact opposite experience with my care team here. All of the staff here are caring, attentive and always looking out for their patients. Ms. Udongwo is a very no-nonsense type of provider and I would even call her strict. I appreciate her straightforwardness and her ability to explain things very clearly. She always gives it to me like it is and doesn't want to hear any nonsense...... reminds me a lot of my mom. LOL. Her bedside manner is great and she is the definition of professional. The best thing about Ms. Udongwo (and from what I hear, most providers with UF health) is that she's extremely responsive to my needs and questions when I have them. I can use the MyChart app on my iPhone to schedule my own appointments as well as message back and forth DIRECTLY WITH HER about my prescriptions, new health issues and test result questions. Long gone are the days where you play phone tag with the doctors office and pray you actually get an answer back within an appropriate time. Any time I have to send a message she is back to me within 24 hours and most of the time within just a couple of hours. Overall I have been very satisfied with the level of care I receive here. If you are in need of a primary care provider I highly recommend checking out UF Health's family medicine department in the ACC building, specially Victoria Udongwo APRN. They are almost always accepting new patients.

I have been here on multiple occasions with multiple procedures and things have gone well. It is not the location of my primary care physician. But it does serve my needs more in the area of specialty treatment (such as dermatology and audiology, for instance). On this day, I had some minor treatment for a dermatological issue. I'm thankful for the superb care I received, but with the VA, oftentimes care in this area takes well over three months to receive. There are a ton of retired Veterans in northeast FL and southeast GA. It's surprising that there is no VA hospital here in the JAX area. Gainesville is a pretty serious drive to receive treatment for emergent care. Hopefully one day this VA Clinic could be closed down and replaced by a new VA hospital in JAX. This leads into the problems with this VA Clinic site. First, it's too small now to serve so many who come for treatment. Waits on occasion can be very long. It's not unusual to have the need for assignment to Community Care due to long waits for specialty treatment. Speaking of small, the parking lot often sees vehicles orbiting in multiple circles in attempts to find a parking spot. Understand, I'm very PRO VA! I'm grateful for what they have provided and how they support those of us who have served. The other two clinics in the JAX area don't have these issues as much. But the care they provide is more limited. Well, not all things are perfect all the time. It's more important to be content than happy because there will always be challenges with medical care whether in the military or civilian treatment centers. Let's just be grateful that they are there for us!

Someone parked a wheelchair patient in the waiting area access passage, see picture. I checked in at 1119 with what might be stroke symptoms. Headache, nausea, left side numbness. While I was sitting in the waiting area someone from the clinic came out to the desk to retrieve intake papers. I was able to hear him express his displeasure with the fact they had to deal with any of them. His opinion was that the individual teams should be dealing with our issues. It seems he feels that a "Walk-In" clinic should be a portion of the scheduling system. Which in fact would be the opposite of a "Walk-In" clinic. -Loss of two stars I expressed my sentiments that employees should do their complaining behind the seems to the receptionist who referred me to the patient advocate. All while I am sitting here with a splitting headache and nausea. Making each and every slight exponentially worse.quality of care has to be not good. I began searching for a functional medicine doctor after suffering with Chronic issues for YEARS…read more Ever since I started having kids, my body has been really dealing with a lot. I've been dealing with some severe brain fog, anxiety, panic attacks and memory issues that affect everything I do. Traditional doctors look at me like I'm crazy when I say I have "brain fog". They just don't understand how serious the issue is and what is going on inside my body. I knew functional medicine would bring me closer to finding the root causes of my issues, and after finding Dr. Tuchinsky I was surprised at just what my body was dealing with. Dr. T did some really extensive blood work that revealed a LOT of gut issues, nutritional deficiencies, a chronic infection and inflammation and that my body was having an autoimmune response that is causing my brain issues. I had no idea until i started going here that my lifelong anxiety was actually due to a gut issue! My gut has been in bad shape for a long time! Once we began healing my gut, my anxieties literally disappeared. I feel like such a different person now. I have also been gaining some really helpful insight about how my eating habits have contributed to the mess that my body was in. Dr. T doesn't just give you pills- he gives you steps for a lifestyle change. He addresses everything, including diet, stress, toxin-free living and more. I couldn't be happier with all I have learned in just a few months! I still have some healing to do, but I feel confident that I'm in the right place. I've already healed sooo much and my body feels better than it's felt in a LONG time! I have hope again that my issues can be fixed! No more bouncing around from health fad to health fad trying to fix this on my own. I now have a customized program designed just for ME, and it's so helpful. Dr. Tuchinsky and his staff are super helpful, and always extra kind to me when I have to bring my kids along to the appointments. You really can't beat the overall package that they offer here! I love it and tell everyone about this place!

I am severely disappointed in my experience with Dr. Tuchinsky. At my appointment time, he called…read moreme and said "how can I help you?" And after I gave him a 2 minute brief description of my issues he told me he couldn't help me and I needed to see integrative medicine. All of that is fine, but his demeanor was disheartening and I could tell, probably because I am a younger patient, he did not want to work with me. I'm busy and I work in healthcare, so I scheduled this appointment weeks ahead of time when I knew I would have a day available. I was very much looking forward to it because I have had immune issues, GI issues, anxiety, hormone imbalances, and fatigue for quite some time. I had always heard functional doctors will listen to you and take all aspects of your health into account, but I never want to see another one after this experience. When I asked him for recommendations for an integrative medicine doctor, he told me to Google it and that was all the advice he had. Do not waste your time making an appointment here. I'm very very frustrated, sad and hurt by the way this doctor handled my appointment today and will likely not pursue seeing a functional medicine doctor again.
