Edgemere Dental really is as good as it gets. Having just moved to El Paso not too long ago, I wanted to find a dentist who was at the very least, comparable to my family dentist from my home town. My husband is in the military so I needed to find a dentist who would also accept Tricare Prime with MetLife. Edgemere Dental exceeded my expectations. Turns out, they are better than my family dentist that I have seen my entire life. When I called to make my appointment, I was treated with respect courteousness. Polite is an understatement. All my questions were answered and my insurance was verified on the spot per my request. I did not have to wait long for my appointment. I was seen within one week. My first appointment was with Denise, the Dental Hygienist. I arrived 20 minutes early to fill out my paperwork. Denise came to get me right on time from the waiting room. She then walked me into the x-ray room where she did my x-rays. I am pleased to say that the clinic uses advanced technology and I did not have to wait for Denise to develop my pictures, rather, they came up on one of the TV screens. I was able to view them with her and she explained them to me thoroughly. She then took photos of my teeth and this was by far the coolest thing I have seen in a dental office. The HD high resolution of the photos was remarkable. I was able to see all of the surfaces of my teeth in HD color on their 40" + TV screen. I was appalled at my teeth! The tartar was bright yellow on the screen. You just can't see tartar in this way when you are looking into a mirror. It stood out from my white teeth in such a way that I was embarrassed to say the least. Also, in shock. Thank god, she took after photos as well!! My cleaning went wonderfully. She placed the saliva ejector over my cheek so that it would stay in place throughout the cleaning. This works wonderfully because she is not stopping to suction out saliva or debris and I can close my mouth at will to evacuate any liquid that I want out. After my cleaning, Denise took a few more photos so that I could see the results. She managed to get the stains off of my 2nd molars that had accumulated from coffee and tea. The tartar was GONE! My mandibular incisors were covered in tartar before, now they were just the way they should be. I could actually feel the grooves of my teeth. I will never let this happen to my teeth again. I have adopted new brushing techniques and have resumed flossing twice a day. When Denise was done, and we had a good laugh at how shocked I was with the results, Dr. Willison came into the room to give me a final check for dental caries (decay) and here I was able to ask him some questions about my receding gum lines and the sensitivity that came along with it. My results of the examination were no more shocking to me than my terrible tartar build up. I had one composite filling that needed to be replaced. Three small cavities, and per my request two class 5 fillings for the sensitivity. (these fillings covered the exposed root of my teeth where my gums had dropped down from bad brushing techniques.) I had 6 different surfaces that would need fillings. Dr. Willison does not do amalgam fillings so they were all to be composite (white.) After Dr. Willison answered all of my questions and I was very satisfied with the explanations that he gave me, Denise walked me up to the front where I made my next appointment and discussed all of the financial planning for my fillings. This was a very smooth process. With all of the high-tech equipment, Denise was already able to transfer her notes to the front. My insurance had already been contacted and prices were already available for me to see on every individual filling. I made my appointment for about another week out. I was able to get in before the holidays. My insurance paid about 40% of the filling costs so I scheduled all 6 fillings at the same time. When I returned for my next appointment, I was also greeted on time and brought back to the room for the procedure. This time it was Dr. Willison rather than Denise. His dental assistant for this day was Moises. He was very polite and did a great job. He did not injure me with the HVE during the entire procedure, nor did he ever suck my tongue or cheek up. It is the little things like this that make procedures go even more smoothly. The entire appointment took about 2 hours. We took a break in between. I am very happy to say that all of my fillings are correct and feel wonderfully natural. My class 5 fillings reduced the sensitivity by 100%. I do not feel a thing anymore. When the fillings were done, Dr. Willison, Moises, and I all had a few good laughs and I was released to the front. Here I paid my portion of the bill and made my 6-month appointment. I would more than highly recommend this dental clinic. They do many procedures to include whitening. It is easy to make an appointment. The staff is more than friendly and well educated.
