The audit was for the 2020 tax year, when we were all reeling from COVID and business owners were insecure and unsure. This client is in the misunderstood field of bartering and trading computer parts, where bookkeeping was not a priority. Ronda was super attentive in the initial consultation. She built rapport by saying how many similar cases she has worked but right after I gave her my retainer it was a different story. They put my case on standby until the last minute and blamed on me not having paperwork together. And it happened numerous times. Eventually, I still owe the IRS a big chunk. I should have went to a different lawyer or did it myself with the same result. They are lazy and will not do preemptive work until it is near the due date. I found Edgar law in a desperate time of need for me, I called Shanette, and she made me an appointment, right away. I had never met either of them after all the time I had resides in San Jose, Ca. 30 years. She came across as a confident woman that understands her field of work, and at that point, this is what I needed. I should give -ve * to this Law group. Don't get cheated by few comments who has given good ratings . Here are my experience. We selected this law group from company insurance , i am sure they are only getting clients because they are listed as in network option from ARAG , i am surprised ARAG still keeping these people. Below are my observations. 1. They don't know what is EMAIL and how to Open it and type response. They never respond to any of our email till date. 2. They don't have phones which can make outgoing calls. They never call back . I am guessing they only taken incoming phone connections ,. Till date they never called us one time . 3. Even to talk to Ronda for official scheduled appointments we need to call at given time and keep hold for 15 minutes ...huh .. 4. They don't give damm about your problem and case schedule . 5. After 2 years my IRS audit is finished and my case is closed with no taxes due. Let me start by pointing out that you can represent yourself in an audit (don't do it) but you cannot go to appeals without a lawyer. There are not that many tax/real estate lawyers in the Bat Area. I had a complicated tax case that involved the short sale of 2 rental properties. The IRS built up a case which included some questionable positions. Ronda engaged the appeals officer monthly for about a year and a half. It seems like all of the delays were from the IRS side. I submitted 600 pages of supporting data and a 40-page description of the salient parts of the business. The case looked strong enough to continue in appeals and go to court if necessary. I would have had Ronda represent me in court also. Ronda's efforts helped me sway the IRS from their 6-figure claim. Ronda's rates are very reasonable. She does require prepayment and that you carry a positive balance, but will accept smaller prepayment increments than initially specified. Ronda, thanks for saving me from liquidating my retirement accounts. Good work. Based on the results, I give Edgar Law Group 5 stars and recommend her for tax law cases in the San Jose area. I hired Edgar Law Group in 2013 through ARAG (legal insurance) for a consumer protection case. Working with this law firm was a total waste of time. The Attorney (as her staff referred to her) was never available talk to me, except on ONE occasion. Even her legal staff was almost never available to talk to me. I would have to call them over and over and over just to get them on the phone. They almost never returned my calls and they were "busy with other clients" whenever I called. After what seemed like an eternity, they sent a demand letter to the company that I was having a dispute with. The letter was 1 and a half pages, double spaced, big margins, including big letterhead header and a big block for the recipient address. To make a long story short, the demand letter didn't get us anywhere and the attorney wasn't interested in actually going to court, so that was the end of it. I got nothing. I'd say the worst part wasn't the fact that I got nothing, but the amount of delays and time it took to get nothing, while their staff was never available to talk to me and always seemed to be working on something else. read more

In my particular case, she was able to prove that I actually have no taxes due. My experience with Edgar Law Group was very similar to one of the previous reviewers here. I was referred to Edgar Law Group through my company's legal access plan. Ronda Edgar was quick to set up an in-person meeting to hear out my contractor dispute case and I felt the meeting was reasonably productive. Things pretty much went downhill after that. 1. Over the course of almost 8 months, the number of emails I sent Edgar Law Group significantly outnumbered the number of responses I received. Through the entire process, I was made to feel as if my case was given super low priority. Despite sending follow-up emails asking for updates once every 3-4 weeks (which I feel is a reasonable frequency), I typically received no responses. Once when calling their office, I was told by Stephanie that I was 'not their only client'. 2. It took a while to sort out the billing plan. While Ronda Edgar at first agreed to bill it as a contractor issue, it took many weeks after meeting with her to sort out how this would be billed. To be fair, my legal access plan shares part of the responsibility here. 3. Edgar Law Group did not follow up with the relevant parties to ensure that the case was brought to closure. Despite this, Edgar Law Group contacted the legal insurance plan to receive payment for the benefit. It took six months of follow-ups with Edgar Law Firm to get them to do what was necessary to close the case. In short, I would strongly recommend against Edgar Law Group unless your case is large enough to merit their attention. read more
