Is this a pathetic attempt to save money? Is it an attempt to cut back on vagrants without manning the station? Whatever it is I was pretty angry to see it. This used to be one of the better stations but they seem determined to ruin it.

This is a review for the Lake Cook train station on the Metra Milwaukee District North line. (at…read morethe time I'm writing this review, the map shows it in the wrong location - the station is just west of Waukegan Rd.) The station itself is fine - clean enough, bathrooms, seating and, as a bonus, Jimmy John's and a coffee shop are attached. The coffee shop is especially convenient for commuters. The problem with this station is the parking situation. Note that this is a Metra-owned lot, not municipal owned like many other stations. There are enough spaces. That's about where the good news ends. The layout of the parking lot is terrible with multiple bottlenecks when commuters are trying to leave. Getting all the way out can take 10 minutes, given that there is one parking lot exit onto Lake Cook Rd. for the station that is shared with Home Depot, a few restaurants and a small office building with a very short stoplight. At peak times, it's not unusual to wait 4 or 5 light cycles to get out. And there is no other way. Finally, the payment for parking here is also not great. The machines to do daily parking are confusing and often don't work. If you do monthly, you have to do it online (ok, that part's good, except that you have to do it each month - there's no option for a 3 or 6 month permit) but then you have to print out a piece of paper to display on your windshield. Not a fan. All of the other stations have either stickers or mirror tags. It's a pain in the butt to drive around all the time with a piece of paper on my dashboard and I am particularly opposed to the identifying information that it contains. I commute from this station because it's convenient, but Metra sure could improve the situation.

Metra - Lake Cook Road - Did you need to charge your phone to buy a ticket? Too bad. They covered up all the outlets!

I usually don't leave negative reviews, but this experience honestly didn't sit right with me…read more Upon arrival, the front desk staff made us feel judged. We were dressed in sweats and cozy clothes (we're from California and not used to the cold), while others around us were dressed more formally. I understand this is considered a "nicer" hotel, but that shouldn't affect how guests are treated. What really stood out was when I asked a simple question about how long it takes to get the deposit back on a credit card. One of the front desk employees jumped in and said it depends on the card, usually 7-14 days--but then specifically mentioned that if it's a Cash App card, it would "definitely" take 14 days. The way it was said felt very assumptive and unprofessional. I work in sales/finance, so that comment didn't sit right with me. When I clarified that we were using Navy Federal, his tone immediately changed and became much more respectful. That shift alone was very telling. As for the room itself, it did not meet expectations for a hotel that presents itself as high-end. * All four cups in the room were dirty with visible residue and streaks * The bedding had multiple stains, some immediately visible and others noticeable under lighting * The couch had strange stains on it as well * When we pulled out the sofa bed, there was someone else's old medicine wrapper underneath, which made it very clear the room was not properly cleaned * One of the lamps was broken * The sink/faucet had heavy buildup and grime that looked unsanitary (as shown in the photos) The level of cleanliness was honestly unacceptable. I didn't complain during the stay since it was only one night, but it's something future guests should be aware of. The only positives were how quick check-in was and how easy it was to book (we booked through Airbnb, which may also have contributed to how we were perceived). Overall, if you're staying here: * Don't expect equal treatment based on appearance * Check EVERYTHING in your room before using it Definitely not the experience I expected from a place that markets itself as high-end.

I noticed a lot of dogs and when I got to the room, the room had a foul smell. I didn't change cuz I would be spending that much time in the room. But later in the stay I noticed it I my nasal passages when I was going to sleep and my clothes smelled of a kennel. A woman brought a dog to the buffet line with dog in one hand and a plate in the other. The wait staff stopped her still probably dropped a few dog hairs in the buffet. I will never stay here again. When I said something to the lady at Che k out she said they were only on the 3rd floor when that was a lie. I stayed on the second floor and 2 dogs were barking and crying off and on. Literally next door and accross the way. The stench in the restaurant was a mix of dirty rags and heavy chemicals, either cleaning or covering the other smells.
