A respite room was booked months in advance. When the time came to take my mother to the facility,…read morewe were told her room was not available, but everything would be OK. Of course, it was not. A woman (my mother) with dementia was placed in a patient's room while the patient paying for the room was away. All of that patient's personal belongings were in that room. At the return of that patient to their personal room, My mother was placed on a couch in a public area to sleep. Her personal items were in the public bathroom. WHAT? In the meantime, another person who arrived at the double booked room before my mother, was resting comfortably in the room I paid for. So, the facility was receiving double pay for the room I booked for my mother to stay in. I was told by the manager "what is your problem?" she has a roof over her head and three hots in her belly and you got to go away". Unacceptable. Worst experience ever for a patient with dementia and for the caregiver who needed some time off. She had a definite decrease in her mental abilities upon her return home. As for the time away for the caregiver, stressful and the urgency to return early was necessary. To top it off, I was told (lawyer) there is nothing you could do, because they have a good reputation. That is also unacceptable. My anger is over the top! I wasn't going to write this up, but I spoke to an ex employee of the facility that was present when my mother was there and they told me of her mistreatment.
