There's nothing better than finding a restaurant that provides amazing options for my partner (Coeliac Disease sufferer). Although gluten-free options are on the rise, finding somewhere that is able to make the subtle, but critical changes to their menu items (without reducing the selection to a handful of bland alternatives) is a rare treasure - all the better when it involves a wonderfully crackled and juicy pork-knuckle with just the right amount of sauerkraut and mashed potato to compliment it. Despite the spartan setting, the restaurant had a warm and inviting feel, which probably had more to do with the happy, buzzing clientele, but you don't get that kind of buzz without the restaurant doing something right. And without a doubt, it's menu offerings are delicious - from hearty dinners and tasty beverages, to incredibly delicious breakfasts that keep you energised throughout the day. This does come at a price (my wallet did cringe a little at the final bill), but for a special night (and morning) out, Edelweiss is a fantastic Bavarian Restaurant. read more

Restaurant closed early despite my reservation, waiter was bald man wearing Hawaii shirt (French?) who said they emailed saying they were closing before reservation but I have no email and we drove far to get here. My girlfriend and myself said 'OK' and turned to leave to find another restaurant - waiter became hostile, began shouting at us and coming at us in aggressive manner. He then shut off all the walkway the lights as we were walking away. Would recommend steering FAR AWAY from this horrible place. read more

We have driven past this place for many years and decided to stay at the hotel on our way to Brisbane for a change. Booked into the restaurant as we were told it is quite popular. It has only been opened for 12 weeks after a change of management and a renovation. I walked in and instantly liked the vibe this place gave off. the live music and decorations were nice touches. it's a fairly formal setting. (which I wasn't expecting) the waiter was really friendly and helpful to us but the service wasn't amazing. it's frustrating having to ask for water over and over again and even silverware? cmon. the food was pretty good though. nothing special but nothing wrong. I highly recommend the brownie for dessert. read more

Terrible. The salt & pepper Calamari was battered to hell and washed of any and all salt and actual pepper, worse even, they looked like fish fingers. The Chicken schnitzel is more bread than chicken and the staff looked absolutely ridiculous. When the black slates came out I expected to see some semi-fine dining aspects, but nope, just heaped on there like no one cared about the presentation. Salad was boring with a terrible dressing that tasted like recycled vegetable oil. The pancakes were burned badly and my wife was very displeased with the cheesecake, and her being the actual chef of thirty years, I trust her reaction. Definitely not coming back here, what a lazy and very expensive waste of time and food. I feel very sorry for whoever has to cook that every single day, they must want to hurt themselves... read more

Food is good but seems a bit overpriced when you can get some pretty good schnitzel elsewhere in town without a huge price tag. Always out of pretzels when I go which is disappointing and service can be a bit slow even if there doesn't seem to be many customers. Could liven the place up though, the decor is great just not the ambience. read more

Took my family here last year for a great meal which catered well for gluten free diets. Servings were big, tasty and the team were friendly and fast. So much so I took them again this year with a couple of friends. This time they were understaffed in the kitchen and took well over an hour for our food to come out and the dishes were disappointing. Pork knuckles were dry and overlooked, and the mashed potatoes were more like smashed potatoes. Had to ask for the jus which should have been included which seemed to confuse the waitress. Would have been better with some pickled veg and improved slightly with the mustard I asked for. The long black hair in my friends potato salad put her off but they did replace it with a rosti instead. They did explain about their short staff and a booked out evening but still left me disappointed. Would give them one star for this time and four stars last year, so three stars as an average of the two visits. Go on a quiet evening or weeknight and you will probably love it. Oh, make sure you have an empty stomach when you go.. They will roll you out when you've had a couple of liters of beer and a platter of meat. read more

The atmosphere of the restaurant is really authentic. They have activities every day. The food is really good but slightly overpriced (especially considering the location of the restaurant). The service was nice, but they offer you a discount if you post a good review on Trip advisor, which is the kind of deal I really don't like. read more

A great place to have an authentic Bavarian meal in the small town of Coffs Harbour. The Nurnberger wurstchen are delicious and taste just like in Germany. Great atmosphere and very efficient staff. Warning to those who book a large group- these people are not set up for big groups so you will be disappointed in the food and the service. Better to stick to 4 or 6 at your table read more
