Unless you know a mechanic there or are very knowledgeable about your car, I would suggest you not use EcoTech. I recently purchased my first Subaru and wasn't very familiar with its engine. When the engine failed, I contacted EcoTech for service. I spoke with Misha, who quoted me $3,500 for the repair. After they received the car and disassembled it, Misha called and increased the price to over $7,000. Feeling I had no other options, I reluctantly agreed. I expected a rebuilt or new engine, but what I received looked like a junkyard unit. It used very old parts, and none of the brand-new components from my original engine were transferred over. I strongly suspect my good parts were kept and reused on other jobs. To make matters worse, the car now performs significantly worse than before. It feels very weak, with sluggish acceleration (0-60 mph in about 20 seconds) and constantly needs to downshift even on minor inclines just to maintain speed. I had also purchased new wheels after lowering the car, specifically ordering them with metal valve stems at an extra cost. EcoTech neither installed the new valve stems nor transferred the TPMS sensors from my old wheels. Additionally, they sent the car to an alignment shop and told me it would cost $120. I agreed because it was cheaper than my usual shop's $150 rate. However, I was ultimately charged $170 by the shop they recommended. Overall, I felt taken advantage of by EcoTech due to my limited knowledge of Subarus. Buyer beware -- I would never recommend or use them again. read more

Had my tire patched up and headlight fixed at Ecotech! They were really nice and reasonably priced. My car was fixed earlier than the estimate window they gave. They also have a small waiting area inside the shop. read more

generally speaking when it comes to any kind of service, you have the impossible trifecta: where you can choose at most two of fast, high quality, and affordable. ecotech is, in my opinion, one of the companies that has the latter two down. the work they do here is good, on the basis that i haven't run into any problems yet. also, i feel like the service is fairly affordable, in that regular maintenance isn't too bad, and special servicing compares favorably to other places in the STL area that offer the same thing the slow-ness really comes out when it comes to scheduling an appointment. there's almost zero chance you'll be able to call them and get something scheduled in the same week - the fastest ive ever had it is like three weeks. so, i do think things here are kind of slow. maintenance itself also doesn't go super fast; for comparison you could call autozone, have an appointment on the same day, and get your servicing done in like an hour and a half however, it might just not be conceptually possible for a good place have fast service: if everyone wants to come here, inevitably it's gonna be hard to get a spot. in addition, car service might not be the kind of thing you want done quickly, even if it was possible. overall im happy with ecotech read more

I took my 2018 Audi A4 here. Was having electrical issues with external light sensors going off and the trunk wasn't opening. I've owned the car for a couple years with no issues until this, so I wanted to find the right people to do the work. I dropped my car off several hours after my appointment time and they were very accommodating. They looked at it first thing the next morning and called me after the initial inspection to explain the fix needed. I was told 2-3 hours for labor. They called me back just a couple hours later and said it was ready for pick up, and only 2 hours of service were needed. It was very refreshing to have honesty, transparency, and great communication throughout the process. I will absolutely be coming back here and highly recommend to fellow Audi owners! read more

You can always count on Ecotech to deliver quality, knowledgeable service at a reasonable price.

I brought my 2009 mini cooper in to clean the intake valves. The car runs amazing after the service. Excellent shop!

Eco tech is truly the best. We've been brings our Subaru here for years. First couple of visits were for problems that Ecotech either resolved reasonably or told me why I didn't actually need to spend the money. Misha is awesome to work with and gives you realistic advice. Our car is 15 years old and still running great. There have been times when I really wanted to know if it was worth it to repair and so far the advice has been spot on! Only drawback is the wait time ... expect to wait a month. read more

Hands down best shop out here! This is my second time bringing my car here and gotta tell y'all they're fast and efficient and also reasonably priced for the work they do. Would highly recommend Ecotech to anyone I know, they had my 07 Hawkeye running perfect again read more

Fantastic Suburu annual service. In at 8 am and out by 10:30 am. Trustworthy team.

I don't always take my car to Ecotech. But even when I don't.... I do. Awww yea. No really, this place kicks the nutsacks out of every dealer in town, specifically the Subaru dealerships. Why? Well let's review some reasons: They actually treat you like a human being at this place. I know, a novel concept, right? I've had so many negative experiences at dealerships before. Their receptionist (Erica) is really friendly, knowledgeable (and cute, always a bonus!) and their staff (Misha) is easy to deal with, pretty darn smart, and has a great sense of humor. Prices are reasonable, and yeah, they use OEM parts, but they also use aftermarket stuff if OEM is unavailable. They let you bring your own parts in!!! I came prepared with a box of spark plugs and they installed them for me! It pisses me off when a shop won't let your bring in your own parts. C'mon now. I have The Internet. I know about RockAuto. I wasn't born yesterday, dammit. They won't screw you over. Everytime I talk to a dealer about a car repair (assume no warranty,) I basically feel like saying "why don't you put on some lipstick...before you fuck me!" Because that's essentially what's happening at dealerships. Bend over, 'cause you're about to get penetrated! (Sans lube!) :-O Ecotech is not like that at all. They're honest and upfront. They REALLY know Subarus....and Saabs apparently. But yeah, I had this MYSTERIOUS battery drain problem. Somehow, there was an electricity drain while the car was powered off, causing a dead battery after a day or two w/o driving my car. The battery was only a few months old, and I had absofuckinglutely NO clue what could be causing the problem. Misha figured out that the previous owners were bunch of dicktards and basically installed a hackjob of a POS aftermarket alarm in my car which was causing the pull. He yanked that sucker out faster than a hooker in sketchers and only charged 20 bucks to do so. Winning. Oh yea, and a pompous doucheb--I MEAN--awesome friend of mine ( ;D ) who is a rally racer recommended this place to me. He drives a Subie rally car. If rally racers bring their cars here, you know damn well the place is legit. The ONLY con? Tiny as fuck parking lot, but I think it's beyond their control right now... it can get kinda jumbled in there. The UPS dude was there as I was pulling in, and my car was wedged in-between the parked cars and the UPS truck tighter than a watermelon seed up a frog's ass. But thankfully I got around him, and it was smooooothing sailing from there. Thanks Ex-Lax! :D In short: They don't fuck around here. You're welcome. \m/ - , - \m/ read more

We found Eco Tech on Yelp after moving my daughter to St. Louis for grad school and her Subaru Outback started making a noise. Trying to help her navigate what looked to be a large and costly repair, both Misha and Erica were incredibly kind and helpful especially when her schedule changed to come home for the holidays, they fit her into a very busy shop. But what has impressed me the most, they had the go ahead to do the work and when they got into it, realized it did not need what we had thought and they were honest and did only what needed to be done. I would not hesitate to have them work on our cars and I give them the highest recommendation. The honestly, integrity and work beat anyplace I have taken a vehicle to. read more

This is the best Subaru shop in the Midwest for a reason. They have a longer wait than other shops lately but it is well worth it. I've gotten regular maintenance done here since I got my Subaru and if I ever need repairs or major work done I'm going here. They are honest about what you need or don't need and their prices are very fair for the quality of work you get. Also, Erica (the receptionist) is always very friendly and happy to answer any questions I have. read more

Great place! Very reasonable prices and honest work from the mechanics. Took my 2017 Subaru Legacy there for a check up and their price beat everyone else for that service. They were also very friendly and when I told them that CarX told me my back brakes were bad (they didn't find that here) the mechanic went back out and did a double check right in front of me to reassure me all was well. They actually told me I had a good 25,000-30,000 miles left on them. So they aren't here to rip anyone off they just do good work for their customers. My Subaru will not go anywhere else in the city for service now. read more

I had an issue with my Mercedes CL550 and wanted to get an estimate. The guy I spoke with gave me some excellent advice on who to call in the corporate Mercedes USA department. I called them, and now I am getting some help with replacing my transmission issues, that were a known problem. I can't say enough good things about the time and information he gave me. He was very courteous to take his time to give me some helpful information. He definitely earned a customer from here on out from me. Thank you very much! read more

There is honestly no reason to take your car anywhere else. They specialize in European and Japanese cars, but I swear I'd take a Ford truck to them any day and they'd be able to handle it just fine and for a better price than anywhere else. There are three main reasons to go to Ecotech: 1. They are beyond honest. Neil and Misha have helped me out many a jam with on the spot advice on how I could fix it easily myself. 2. The pricing here is excellent. They're significantly cheaper than anywhere I've ever been. 3. They'll make it right. I've seen them go well beyond what anyone would expect for customer service and not ask for a dime. Do you want to hear how serious I am about Ecotech being just awesome? I almost moved out of town and one consideration I had was how would I find anyone as good as them. Also, when my wife bought a car my only request was that it was one the Ecotech specializes in. If you're having trouble getting your car fixed, try Ecotech. You'll likely be driving home very happy. read more

I have a MB 240-D and a MB E-420 Ecotech has worked on both cars and did fine work on both cars. I will not let anyone but them work on my cars they know what they are doing! And do it right! I give them 10 stars. read more

Great great great! The engine control module failed on my wife's 2008 Saab. It would give no indication that it would fail. Instead, while driving along at highway speeds, the engine would simply turn off, resulting in loss of power brakes, power steering, etc. The engine would not restart. Eventually we had to replace this ECM part at an independent mechanic. This is not a user-changeable part as there is a special software to "marry" the ECM with the car VIN number. The local St. Louis saab dealer quoted ~$1000 for a new ECM, but we chose to use Ecotech and they found a used ECM from a crashed Saab 9-3. Total out of pocket cost was ~$300! You know I'm going to Neil next time I have a major Saab maintenance item. Great service and reasonable cost. read more

Easily a five star. Id give a six if I could. Trustful, honest mechanics are nearly impossible to find. Misha is awesome. Hell, they even work on pieces of crap euro saabs all day. No mechanics will ever touch those things. Which means normal regular cars are like legos to them. I refer all friends and family here. Pricing, value, honesty, reliability. You cant beat it. read more

Very satisfied, first tried my Volvo and then the Mazda. I received great service at a good price, both times. Will use again. I'll be back read more

I recently moved back to St. Louis from Colorado and was worried I'd never find a decent place to have my 2001 Audi S4 repaired and maintained. I noticed a much larger percentage of big honkin' American cars here and damn few Audis. I got more worried. The only guy I knew about who worked on foreign cars - in Fenton - never returned my calls, and the Audi was in need of new control arms and general TLC. And then, I found Ecotech. I don't worry about Audi service any more. They are located in the same building where I used to buy parts for my 1960's Triumphs and coincidentally, where I bought 3 of my 4 Saabs. I had my Saabs serviced in the same building, too, back in the day. Misha and his guys are just great, very happy to explain what needs to be done, what they found, what needs to be fixed, and even what doesn't. I'm a very satisfied customer, and I'm treated like one every time I go to Ecotech, even though I don't drive a Saab anymore. I only wish these guys had been around when I was a Saab owner. Then again, maybe not, because I never would have "graduated" to an Audi. Their work is first-rate, their rates are reasonable, and if you drive a Saab, Volvo, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mini, Subaru, or Nissan, you need to seriously consider having these guys work on your car. But not so much that I can't get on the schedule. read more

I have owned a number of Saab's and finding a good honest mechanic who knows how to work on them can be tough to do.... until I found Neil and his team. Neil will shoot straight with you and not try and make you do repairs that you don't need. For example, when I was having a throttle body issue Neil was able to clean it thoroughly and reinstall it rather than charging me over $1000 to buy a new one like a less reputable repair shop might. Ecotech Import Auto Service is a full service stop for Saab auto repair and keeps my car running great for less than I would pay at the dealership. read more

This place was fantastic! Very helpful and honest. We brought our car here under the impression that we needed a new transmission based on a diagnosis from another mechanic. Well it turns out we were greatly misinformed by our prior mechanic, who inaccurately told us we can keep driving our car without causing any major harm. We brought our car into Ecotech after the check engine light came on and it wouldn't' shift properly. They determined we needed the transmission fluid flushed, which was 10% of the cost it would have been to replace the transmission. We had our car back in just a couple days. Misha (the mechanic who worked on our car) was genuinely nice and was willing to spend time listening to our concerns and explaining the problem. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

Wow, I had been getting my BMW serviced at AutoHaus BMW and cannot believe what a difference these guys are. They immediately took my vehicle in, found a "few red rags" laying inside the hood of my car next to the engine from AutoHaus and fixed the coolant issue that AutoHaus said was just a failed light sensor. I'm a BIG fan. read more

I took my Mercedes in for some work given the positive experience we had before. My estimate was around $900 and the final bill was around $187. The staff said the book estimate for time necessary to complete the work, which they used to make the estimate, was wrong so the bill was for actual time spent doing the work requested. Again I want to express how much I appreciate the honesty of this business and the staff that work there. If only more businesses were as honest. As we all know that is not the case. I would strongly recommend this business and if you own a Mercedes avoid the St. Louis stealerships and bring your car here. read more

I'm really just disappointed with this shop. I brought my car in because the service engine light and they could only schedule me about three weeks out. After my service app my engine light came back on so I scheduled service which again was about three weeks out. Then again my engine light came back, now it's causing my emissions to fail and guess what??? They can't schedule me for 4 weeks!!! Really??? This is ridiculous!! I tried giving them the benefit of a doubt because the mechanics seems honest but this scheduling is a nightmare! How do you stay in business? If someone's car breaks down they typically can't wait 2,3 or 4 weeks to get it fixed. I need to find another place that can work on imports! read more

Excellent and very honest auto repair. Another auto repair place tried to scam us out of new brake pads and rotors for $460. I gernerally don't write reviews unless the service is severely poor but I have a change of heart....I own a Audi, and when it comes to repairs I either deal with shops raping me with prices and additional charges for repairs not needed or im referred to the dealership who rapes just for the sake of their name. As a female going into this shop honesty pours out like water from drain. The guys in there are awesome, they don't beat around the bush,, their prices are reasonable, and most of all they work with you. I feel like family, they greet u with a smile and everything and it's never fake. At one point I was consider buying an american car just because the hassel of finding someone to work on it would be easier...But now I can stay with what I like and love & i will cont taking my car to them. Good jobs guys you'll cont getting my vote everytime!!! read more

I've had some bad experiences with auto repair places in this area. Coming off another one recently, I was looking for someone new to fix the window on my BMW when the window went down but wouldnt come back up. After reading 2 5-star reviews on here, I called Ecotech in the morning and explained the situation. I told them that I really needed the work done that day due to the nature of the problem (dont want to leave your car with the window open all the time) and the fact that it is my only means of transportation. Based on my description of the problem, Ecotech was able to identify the problem. They told me that he would order the necessary part and have it there by 1, and I agreed to be at their shop by 1. They never promised they could get it done that day, but said they'd try to fit me in. By 3:30 that afternoon, they had fixed my car and the window worked great. Also, I had the same problem on the other side a few years ago and Ecotech charged the same amount to fix it, so Im confident they didnt rip me off. Im happy to find a shop that did a good job and wont try to rip me off. I'll have to bring my car back in the future. read more

Ecotech is great. I have brought my Saab to them a few times for some tuning and clutch upgrades. Great group of Guys and Gal. No issues at all. They are friendly, fast, and honest. They do super work and know how to fix strange problems that other shops would not be able to. Will continue to do business with them with all of my cars(Saab,BMW, Subaru) moving forward. I would refer anyone here who need work done on their car with no reservations about the work they do. Top notch. read more

Absolutely fantastic! I wish I could them give 6 stars. This was my first time coming here. I find their communication to be vastly superior to any other shop I have worked with. They only sell you what you need and their labor charges are fair. Their bill is very easy to understand as well in the way it it is itemized out. They get your car done on or before you need it back. Everything everyone else said about this place is totally true. Their front desk young lady is very professional and is friendly as well. I will be coming back for sure. What a great place. read more

I've been taking my 1990 Volvo to Neil, Ecotech's owner, for 12 years. I've followed him to 4 locations in that time. I'd tow my car to Lake St. Louis if that's what it took to have him fix it. If you drive an European import, you need to take it here for maintenance and repairs. Neil and company's honesty and expertise are unmatched in the St. Louis area. They take the time to explain what is wrong, why it matters, and the way(s) to fix it. If your car is old or you're strapped for cash, they never fail to find more cost-effective alternatives. They stand behind their work and are more committed to happy customers and operational vehicles than profit maximizing. I've never trusted a repair person more. read more

If I can help it, I take my Saab here. Basically, other than oil changes or tires I have all my scheduled/major service done by Ecotech. They're always super busy (which I'd say means they're good) so my advice is to always make an appt. as early as possible. When I've brought it in, they've always been able to get whatever needs to be done in a day for a reasonable price. I would recommend this place to anyone with an import. read more

I cannot say enough about the great service and staff at Eco-tech! After my Audi Allroad began to start over heating while on a trip from California to Mt Olive Illinois my wife and I frantically searched yelp an hour outside of St. Louis and found Eco-tech where they not only squeezed us in but diagnosed and repaired our Audi within 24 hours. The staff of Misha, Neal, Erica and mechanics were not just professional but friendly and accommodating. Our car needed a water pump, fan, thermostat timing belt, etc all parts ordered delivered and repaired to meet our travel deadline. These guys are great and trustworthy I can honestly say the best service and diagnostic ability I have ever seen in my many years of being a auto repair customer. Pass the word along for this great team! read more

These people are fantastic. They are extremely knowledgable, generous, helpful, fast. Support them.

This is a great shop for repairs on foreign vehicles. My wife and I have a 2004 VW Jetta that they've worked on a pair of occasions, it had an issue where the engine shut down sporadically. They were able to quickly identify the issue and repair it. They are honest, work quickly, and very communicative. I wouldn't hesitate to bring a vehicle here and will continue to have them work on any of our import vehicles. My only complaint is that they're so busy that it takes some time to get a car in to be seen. I think that speaks to the work that they do. read more

Neil at Ecotech is excellent! My son lives in STL, we live in Milwaukee. He had a water pump fail on the way to Milwaukee this summer and we had it fixed in the city where it failed, an hour away from us. That mechanic put in a crappy aftermarket pump, tore an o-ring on install and then used the old O-rings on the back of the pump. Neil offered to tell the other mechanic what he found and I conferenced him in and Neil obviously was so correct in his diagnosis, the other mechanic could do nothing but offer to give me a refund of the defective pump and half of the labor I paid for. My son is a customer for life! Thanks Neil! read more
