How do describe this place, lets see, if you've been to Waikiki strip in Hawaii lets just say this…read morewould be Puerto Rico's equivalent, the flea markets I am told are on the first Sunday of every month, the venue is not that large but you can't miss it driving down, the white canopies are a dead giveaway, it is located in the middle of everything, you have the hotels on both sides, large water fixture on the left hand side with timed sprays and waterfall walkway that you can't walk on haha guard whistles you down also a fairly large decorative water fixture again you can't climb or dip your feet in or you will be whistled otherwise The right hand side you have some chain spots two ice cream places I know Ben and Jerry's was one followed by small restaurants. Dead center is the flea market and behind the flea market is the opening to the beach The flea market has an inviting front vendor called indice or indicepr serving up whole hog lechon, finally got my fix of lechon where they offer the skin, I will review this vendor later in detail, inside the canopy's there are small vendors, churrasco types, guacho types, honey, pastries, hand rollled cigar makers onsite, jewelry makers and several other vendors under this fairly large tent Very interesting spot to hit up when your in the area, again first Sunday of the month not every Sunday Try this place out you may find something you need or want Price - depends on what your buying food was moderately priced Service ***** Ambiance *****

This outdoor market is amazing. From the moment I saw the roasting pig at the interest I knew this…read morewas the place I needed to be. There were samples everywhere. Artwork, hand rolled cigars, local food and drink, mojitos, sangria, plants, produce, pretty much everything you can imagine was here. Local businesses came out to sell their merchandise. When the residents come out and stand in line you know it's good. Everyone was very patient while we stumbled through our spanish and we helped them with english. I got a lot of gifts while I was at the market and the drinks were awesome. It was great!!!

Last evening, I was sold a moldy bag by Vendors Plaza!…read more It wasn't until later when I opened it that I noticed there was a pungent "petting zoo" smell. I eventually figured out it was mold and it had gotten on most of what I had with me on my trip by then. So I will be tossing and replacing everything including my luggage when I get home I guess. Hundreds of dollars worth of stuff I'll need to have replaced, including some sentimental things. My flight left St. Thomas this morning, so there's nothing I can do about it. Otherwise, I would go and ask for my money back. I am now traveling back home with all kinds of stuff that has mold and I don't know what to do about it. I considered tossing my things in SJU, but I was advised not to do something that can't be undone like that. I did email the St. Thomas health department and mention that I was sold a moldy bag in Vendors Plaza and that that's not only unethical business practice, but a health concern. While traveling all day, I have felt sick -- most certainly from exposure to the mold. Vendors Plaza cannot be selling people merchandise that has mold in it. That cannot be acceptable. If I return to St. Thomas, I will not be spending any more of my money at Vendors Plaza!

This is the same review for Old San juan Farmers Market!!…read moreThis little market was in part made possible by some of the people that live in Old San Juan looking for a place to get the freshest ingredients possible at the dinner table. Dont expect to find anything big, the market has been using the interior garden of the San Juan Museum for some time and although the space is huge the selection at this moment is not but you know that quality is always better than quantity and quality is not lacking at this place. You'll find about 10 sellers and each of them with something different to offer. Maybe bread, cheese, vegetables, coffee, home made jelly between others. Every one of the people selling theyre products are really great, so you'll enjoy the time you spend at the market. End the visit eating at Fifis Food stand. I think right now shes the only one serving food there. Shes a brazillian woman, that cooks really good organic mostly vegetarian food, there's chicken and meat for the rest of us also. She has maybe 4 chairs in a table where you'll join the others trying her food. Everything is already there so you choose what you want to eat.... Like a buffet but without the refill. Sit and enjoy her talk. I recommend this for the tourist and for the people living here. Its something different and full of life. Its the way to buy groceries. Remember its ONLY on Saturdays from 8am- to 1:00 pm Happy eating.

Finally a farmer's market with natural and local grown food in Puerto Rico!…read more I went here for the first time today. The market is near the El Morro and the Museums of the Americas. It is tucked inside the Old Market Square. Right now there is only a small strip of vendors in the square, but I hope that it will start to expand! There are a variety of vendors that sell fantastic herbs, vegetables, flowers, organic beauty products, organic pastry treats, and bread. Plus, it is much cheaper to get herbs/ vegetables here than at the grocery store. I bought small a organic carrot cake, a cup of fresh squeezed orange juice, 1/4 lb of basil, 1/2 lb of green beans, long French bread, and 1 lb of arugula. 1lb of arugula for $5?! What a deal! I bought bagged romaine lettuce from Grande for the same price, and that is definitely not grown locally.
