Nasty gunky rough discolored patched up tub
Denisse W.

For a 2 star motel (as per google) we were highly surprised... great floor and neat bedding. Not the ugly flower blankets! 32 inch flat screen tv and usb ports. Downfall was the nasty tub and there was trash in the bedside table.... really gross...next time, i wont forget to check the room before purchasing....but it was very late when we checked in after driving from florida

This is a photo of mouse droppings that were on the bathroom floor when we arrived.

One note: The signs out front identify this place as the Ashburn Inn as well as the Budget Inn, so…read moreif you're looking for it, you may want to look out for "Ashburn Inn" as those signs seem to be more prominent. If you are looking for the Hilton, this place isn't it. However, if you are looking for an inexpensive but good-quality place to stay, you'll find it here. We rented two rooms at the Ashburn Inn for our party of six travelers. One adult and three kids in one room, and two adults in the other room. We didn't pre-reserve the rooms, but the manager was still able to find us two adjacent rooms with a connecting door. The pool is very well maintained and clean, with nice pool furniture. (Honestly, we usually joke that places in this price range are "dead body in the pool" places, based on the quality of pool we usually see -- murky, gross, schmutz floating on top -- but this pool was kind of amazing considering the cost of the rooms.) I have seen other reviews mentioning that there is no wifi. There actually is free wifi here, so that may have changed recently. It's not super fast, but it is reasonably reliable and should be more than sufficient to check your email, upload a few trip photos, etc. The rooms are on the small side, but they are clean and they include a microwave and a fridge. I've stayed at much more expensive hotels in larger cities that didn't have a fridge, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find these things here. The bathrooms were clean and reasonably spacious. I also have to mention the friendly staff. At breakfast, my 6-year-old son, who is autistic, wanted a different breakfast cereal than the first one he'd got, but the cereal he wanted was almost gone from the dispenser. One of the staff members overheard and not only got more cereal for him, but poured it into his bowl for him and asked him a few questions about his trip, etc. She was not fazed by his communication problems in the slightest. I was truly impressed. My single complaint is that of our two non-smoking rooms, one of them had a faint odor of smoke, as though it had once been used as a smoking room in the past. The other room smelled clean and pleasant. Also, be aware that you will only get the price advertised on the sign ($29.95, I think) if you are a single traveler. We paid $35 for our two-person room, and $40 for the room with one adult/three kids. Still, a very good value and I'm really happy we found this place. Highly recommended.

This place honored the price quoted on the sign, 29.95 plus tax for a single, sun-thurs. The staff was friendly, value is excellent, I was pleasantly surprised by the size and amenities of room, with wifi and big tiled bathroom. I have been from California to florida to NY, and very few places offer this price range value, or want a higher fee at check-in. P.S. - most travelers will find this off the Rocky Mount, N. C. exit , first one going I-95 south, about 4-5 motels in exit. I've tried others here and guess what ? higher price ! LOL pss - guy at the front desk was cool. Sign says Budget inn and Ashburn inn

This is the worst inn that I have ever dealt with…read more Stay away from here if you value service, money or time. The rooms are disgusting and the customer service is just awful. Had to ask my credit card company to reverse the charges. There are plenty of hotels, inns and motels in the area. Do yourself a favor and do not even consider this place. UPDATE: The owner of the inn called to apologize and refunded our money. Despite what happened to us, at least the ownership is respectable! Gave back two stars just for that.

We got in at like midnight on our way to Florida. With in 5 min of being there the woman below us who was basically Wendy from breaking bad asked us if we could sell her drugs we informed her No as well simply we did not have anything with us. That made her mad she continued to harass my boyfriend as he smoked a cigarette outside and then said she called the cops on us. Ummmm ok well that's fine bc we didn't do anything nor have anything that would get us in trouble. About 20 min later after she continued to open and slam her door and after 3 trips to the main office she got in a car and left. My boyfriend walked to the office to inquire if she left for good where in route he encountered a hotel worker who was walking towards our room and the worked asked if he needed something, my boyfriend told Him what happened and the male worker said she did make complains of us being loud and using drugs and he was on his way to our room to investigate her claims. After talking with my boyfriend he agreed that woman was insane and we were decent people. Now the room... well where do I start first of all it was disgusting , it was a non smoking room but stank of cigarettes and burn holes in the sheets. And when I say sheets it really was basically a paper thin napkin it was scratchy and thin and we were freezing cold. There was No toilet paper in the room, but a used damp used washcloth was hanging up, the bathroom was filthy I slept in my clothes and didn't even want to bring a suitcase in. We left by 8 am and would never come back this place was the definition of a shit hole . I was itchy the entire time I was in the room and the pool was half empty and filled with mud and yuck my boyfriend who stayed here once 4 years ago said it looked exactly the same as it did 4 years ago this place is a rip off and a scam. The bed was so uncomfortable and low to the ground it was basically a mattress on the floor. Last time my bf stayed here 4 years ago he said when he got to the room a used pair of woman underwear was on the bathroom floor, they tried to have someone come clean but he insisted on a new room which they did do this time around they claim we got the last room available. Plain and simple this place is disgusting, a prostitution hot spot and just simply nasty scam artists

Many places don't allow pets or allow only one. The tub was a little stained. Tile floors a bit worn. Neither affected the comfort of the room. Because of the pandemic the lobby was closed and breakfast was pack-your-own from some fruit, crackers and coffee urns. Still better than nothing.

Room said non-smoking outside the door so I checked with the clerk to try and trade rooms but she said I booked a smoking room and that is why they put me there. Apparently, I accidentally chose a smoking room - I didn't realize it until I got in the room. She refused to help us by changing rooms and said because I booked through Expedia, I'd have to check with them. Expedia customer service even called the clerk and they still refused to change our room. She then sarcastically said "have a nice day" when I said we would be checking out. Cigarette smoke/smell makes me sick and I was quite nauseous in the short time I sat in the room trying to sort out the issue. Not a place I would recommend to others - we found a nicer place and sadly did not get a refund either.

I did not do a very good job researching because it turns out that this place is more expensive than other options nearby, but just as dumpy. It was about $60/night when for the quality, I would put it in the $35-40/night range. The good: the check-in woman was nice, and they served breakfast. There weren't many options for breakfast but they did have coffee, some cereal and a waffle machine! Honestly, the waffle mix tasted very, very cheap - but it wasn't terrible. They had syrup out, and also had milk and cinnamon. I put milk and cinnamon in my coffee and actually chugged down a lot. Not bad. Though I did look longingly out the window at Waffle House. The bad: -the air conditioning was extremely loud and rattling, so much so that it was nearly impossible to sleep. Turn the air conditioning off, and it got muggy fast - making it nearly impossible to sleep. A catch-22. We got up several times in the night to turn it on and off. -the bathtub was really gross and had brown stains all over it. I didn't even want to put my feet in there. -whole room was just run down and old looking. If the price had been $20-30 cheaper, I wouldn't have cared about this, but for $60 out here I would expect something nicer. This place is in the middle of nowhere! We saw billboards for places offering $25.99/night nearby and were kicking ourselves for making reservations here. If you are traveling down 95 I recommend just picking something cheap off of the billboard and going there.
