A pretty average motel for a decent rate. The Econolodge doesn't offer anything fancy--no pool, no hotel lobby, and one a single treadmill and elliptical in the "fitness room." Rooms are older and a little faded of color, a little dim, and a bit worn, but clean and offer the basics expected: made up beds, a TV, an a work desk. Affordable and ok for short stays. Seems safe. Stayed here one night only, as part of a long road trip. We chose this place because we needed a full sized fridge for our frozen food. The front desk people are very nice and they are well set up for Covid safety. But they don't offer breakfast because of Covid and didn't offer a discount. The room itself is "surface" clean. Beds were comfortable & good water pressure. The comforters are stained and had hair still on them. But the sheets were clean. The carpet needs replacing, wouldn't walk barefoot on it. Overall it's an old place and needs remodeling. But it's good for a night or two just to rest. The kitchen is great but there's no pots/pans or plates/silverware and no place to sit for 2 people or more to eat, just one chair and a desk. My pics make the place look better than it really is. The location is great if you're going to do dinosaur land stuff. But I would only stay here again if I wanted to save money. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you are a clean freak. I'm wondering if all the good reviews are because the office offers free stuff if you show them you've written a 5 star review. The employees are very nice. But they also walked into our room without knocking. Twice. First impression of the place is rough. Faded colors on the building, unmaintained parking lot. The large sign has the wrong name on it, apparently they changed hands some time ago but haven't changed the sign yet. Office is old and very worn out. Old is one thing, looking like it's falling apart is another. The room we were given smelled. Some sort of...mildew and musty smell that would not go away. Ceiling light was burned out, chair by the desk was cracked and pieces of the pleather were all over the floor. The sheets were clean! Bathroom looked kinda gross, but I do think it was clean. Just old and grimy looking. Sink had two modes, dribbling and Niagara Falls. (I'm wondering if the overspray hitting the carpet contributed to the smell) The blackout curtains had holes in it, but still mostly worked. There was a bunch of old garbage behind the TV and dresser. There were pieces of tape on the wall in the shower covering holes that had drywall falling out of them. The carpet had been vacuumed, I think. But our socks got dirty pretty fast so it wasn't as clean as I had hoped it would be. I hate leaving negative reviews. Especially where the employees were nice, but I don't want someone else to see all the positive reviews and be blindsided when they book here. You know when you're at the zoo and you go into the penguin building and it smells funny? That's what the room smelled like. I asked the front desk if a penguin trainer stayed the night before, but he replied to my answer in some sort of language I could not detect. Very suspicious. Now, you get use to the smell quickly, and if you're from Antarctica you won't even notice. So let's move onto the bathtub. After a long day of travel (I sell Hawaiian shirts for dogs throughout the Western Hemisphere) and all I needed was a nice long shower. Little did I know that the tub was as loud as the hammer of Thor crashing down on a glass factory. The neighbors were so annoyed that they came over trying to challenge me to a duel. I think they thought it was 1878 but that's beside the point. One more thing. Dinosaurs. This town is full of dinosaurs. I was not in any danger, as they were not alive. I doubt Vernal, Utah will be the first to clone extinct animals from millions of years ago. But there is a strong dinosaur theme throughout the town. Dinosaur parks. Dinosaur bars. Dinosaur museums. I won't touch on that any further. There is something very odd going on in this town, and I'm gonna get to the bottom of it. read more

Wow! Our room was spacious, clean had a flatscreen, coffee maker, microwave, fridge and two burner electric stove. The king bed was just excellent. Excellent location for trips to Dinosaur National Monument, Fantasy Canyon, Moonshine Arch etc etc. WiFi worked but wasn't super fast. Oh yeah, the bath squeaks: LOL so what?! read more

I guess it's not a terrible deal for $80-something a night as long as you aren't needing reliable internet, a lot of space, and lots of quiet. I got into Vernal around midnight and apparently had to wake up the manager to get my room card. He was nice enough, but obviously was half awake. Parking at that time was terrible. There wasn't a single space left in front of either building and I had to park way in the back. The room was quite small, but I thought it was interesting that mine had a little kitchen in one corner. (Sink, lots of cupboards with some pots and dishes, microwave and a two burner stove.) The bathroom was tiny with almost no counter space. A nice large mirror though and another one in the main room. Flat screen TV on the wall, good AC, an old dresser and desk. The chair for the desk was ancient and not comfortable and also really not the right height for this desk. (Picture a chair from the waiting room of a 1970's or 1980's doctors office. Now take that chair that has been sitting in that office for the past 30-40 years, put it in a motel room and that is what you can expect here.) The bars of soap and shampoo were very low-grade; not the kind you want to take the extra's home with you. There were two, very tired looking bath towels, a couple of worn out washcloths, and a couple of thin hand towels. Breakfast was adequate, but far more basic than most places I have stayed at; one waffle maker, juice from a machine, a pitcher of milk, cold cereal, a few apples, some tiny bagels and some so-so pastries. No coffee, bacon, sausage, eggs, etc. Definitely the economy plan here. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. The three pillows were pretty fluffy and worked good for me being there alone. The internet was pretty bad. At times it seemed to work well for a while, but the wireless network would completely vanish fairly regularly. Most of the time it was just REALLY slow. I had to put the correct password in five times before it allowed me access in the first place. Also the walls are incredibly thin. When the person in the room next door coughed, it sounded like he was in the room with me. I was woken up an hour earlier than I had planned because the person on the other side used their bathroom sink. (I know that sounds silly, but it was incredibly loud.) I went back to sleep for another 15 minutes until they turned on their TV, and at that point, I could hear every word being said on the show they were watching and sleep was impossible. read more

Our hotel was one of several in the area that looked to be in about the same condition - bad. The room we had smelled very musty, the bed was hard, and there were only 2 flat pillows available. The bathtub was a "re-bath" over the tub, and it squeaked constantly whenever you moved. As a bonus, there was a giant cricket in the bathroom. The wireless internet worked at night, occasionally, but did not work at all in the morning. Breakfast was supposed to be out by 6am, but was not set up completely when we left at 6:30. The whole area seems a little depressed, and the other hotel options may or may not be better than this one. read more

My hubs and I stayed here for two nights and we were impressed for $80 for two nights with some breakfast in the morning it wasn't bad at all. The king bed was nice and they had a microwave and mini fridge. It was clean and the staff was always super kind and smiling. Would definitely stay again if we're ever in town. read more

After two weeks of fishing in Utah and Colorado we put up here so we could be tourist and vist the dinosaur national park. The room is spotless, many amenities, this is the best bargain of the trip. I highly recommend it. read more

I booked this on-line and the pictures looked appealing enough, but they did not depict the room I was given. View my photos and you will likely change your mind about staying here. The accommodations were what you would expect from a $30 per night hotel, not $80. The security chain had recently been removed from the door, and they hadn't bothered to patch the holes or paint over where it had been. The room had housed a rather large animal (dog?) that wasn't happy to be there and had attempted escape by scratching and chewing the door, door jamb and carpet around the door. If I were the hotel owner, I wouldn't have considered this room rent-able until repairs were made. The bathroom was gross, tiles were discolored, the floor was carelessly tiled and plumbing and fixtures were questionable. I was on a business trip and didn't have time to hassle demanding a refund, but if I had rented this room for a personal trip, I would have asked for a refund and found a better place to stay! read more

I'm always skeptical of staying at an Econolodge, especially when they have had bad reviews. Surprise!! We tried this one in Vernal since the off season price at 59. Plus tax - seemed like a good deal. I was very surprised by the room and furnishings. Everything was clean and updated. No horror stories like the others to report. Great flat screen TV; frig, and microwave which functioned well and were spotless. Great beds and bedding, towels and other amenities were just fine. Found out there has been new management and remodeling over the last 6 -8 month. We used 3 different rooms over 2 nights and no negatives from any in our party. Will definitely return. read more

I have never stayed at an Econo Lodge before now. Honestly we chose this one because we had a free night through Choice Hotel reward program. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room. It appears to be an older motel but has been updated. The room is decent sized, clean carpets, bedding, and no smell. What more could one ask for from an economy motel? It also has a small fridge, microwave, and 2 burner countertop range. The motel has free WiFi with good signal from the room we are in. We are fairly close to the office though. I would definitely stay here again in the future. read more

Everything was clean, plus a comfy bed. The whole motel was nonsmoking. I thought it reasonably priced at $80 + tax for 2 people & 2 queen size beds for the area. Woke him up at 10:30 pm (without a reservation) to get a room. Room also had a 2 burner cooktop. We left before breakfast so can't comment on that I don't know about pets, he didn't ask and no notices in the lobby. That info would be helpful for all motels. HEED MY WARNING-DISGUSTING!!!! Let me preface my review by saying 2 things: 1) I've traveled around the world, staying in 100s of hotels and at least half dozen in the last few weeks. 2) I have worked customer service for 15 years, 5 at a high end retail; I understand service and value very well and would rather compliment than EVER complain. That being said: THIS PLACE WAS THE MOST DISGUSTING ESTABLISHMENT !! I paid $100 for a room for one night, checking in at approximately 7pm. I promptly left for dinner, having secured lodging for the night and ended up out until 2 am with some friends in the area. When I returned I did emails/business for about 1 hour. When I went to turn in for the evening I turned my sheets down and saw not one but TWO DIFFERENT COLORED PUBIC HAIRS AND CIGARETTE ASHES ALL OVER THE SHEETS. I have pictures too. I promptly called the management, even though I truly dislike calling anybody at that obscene hour but this situation needed to be resolved! He said he wanted to take care of it in the morning. Well, I got absolutely very little sleep as I slept on the sofa, sitting up. I went to the front desk in the morning and he refused to give me a partial refund. Yes, that is all I requested. I am no jackass and realized I'd 'occupied' a space in the building and used the wifi. All I asked for was a 50% refund. Especially as he was clearly not abiding by the Econolodge mission statement which says: "DELIVER..EXCEPTIONAL SERVICES..THAT SATISFIES GUESTS" NOT EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE NOR SATISFACTION. THIS PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A BUSINESS OPERATOR IS A DISGRACE TO BUSINESS OWNERS AND MEN/HUMANS EVERYWHERE. HE HAS NO INTEGRITY, HONOR, OR UNDERSTANDING OF DECENCY. he merely offered a laughable 10% refund. I was incredibly insulted and left, warning him I will be blasting him all over the internet and reporting him to the local environmental health/human services and commerce departments.
