A very well run school. The school was granted last year with over $60000 worth of new books from…read moreindigo!!. The building has an elevator for students with physical limitaions. The large playground is very engaging for students of all abilities, which includes a new oodle swing which is suitable for people with physical limitations, and a new slide is on its way as their parent council raised funds to purchase last year. They also have raised garden beds that the students plant different plants in . The staff go above and beyond to engage their students by providing free after school clubs throughout the year. Champlain School teaches the 7 Grandfather teaching to all students and teach their students to be proud of their cultural backgrounds, and inclusive to all. They even hold community pot luck dinners about 2x a year. This school has a free breakfast program for all students who want breakfast, if the student is late they r welcome to have breakfast during morning recess. Students r also offered a fruit or vegetable snack every morning (courtesy of the Canadian Nutrition Council). Parents are welcomed into the school everyday where they could spend time in a staffed Parent room where there are resources available for them to access, or just to connect with other parents and have a cup of coffee. The parent room also offers different activities for parents with preschoolers who need some adult interaction, thats been a lifesaver for some Moms. Champlain students produce amazing work, some of which was recognized by the Canadian Rights Museum in Winnipeg! Awesome! The school is very secure with a 'buzz in' system and security cameras throughout, including outside. Keep up the good work Champlain!!

This school is very broke. The budget must be going to the teachers paychecks. This school has so…read moremany holes in the walls. It smells horrible. There is no tololiet paper in the toilets. If they cant even afford toilet paper than can they even afford to fix their school. The kids here suck. Their mean annoying and so stupid. I thought you could only be one but no their mean and stupid. I wish I could go to another school, but that's not a option for me. So many schools are better than this one but where do I have to go.... Here. Please get me out!!! bye

The teachers are really mean, they have favourites. The school is really unfair to lots of kids,…read moresometimes they will give others special things just because. The school does everything to try to not look rasic, but they really don't care about what actually happens inside the school. They will defend the people that started the problem instead of the victims. Most of the teachers they hire are mean and couldn't care less about what happens in their classes. In this whole school I could only think about five nice teachers that actually care. Their's reasons why teachers in this school only stay for a couple of years. Some of the teachers in this school seriously should be the ones actually in the school for learning. For a elementary school there is lots of fights, the teachers only make this fights way worse. So many kids in this school get treated differently because someone in their family works/ used to work in this school. This school is the reason why I hate school and actually cry when I have to go to school. I have no idea where most of the budget, because the school is very broke. This schools teachers need to wake up and face the real problems happening in this school, right now they're really blind when it comes to the real problems. This school makes school feel like a prison. The only good thing in this school right now is the gym teacher, the gym teacher they have right is awesome! He's actually the best teacher in the whole school. The mixed grade classes they have suck, the grade 7's need to work at a different level than the grade 6's.Why do they mix them together? The subs this school get's are horrible, it's like their still living in the 1980's. Thanks for reading my honest review. Bye people! ;)

My child attended this school for grade 1 to grad 2. My child was having a lot of problems in the…read moreclassroom both years. The classes are very large usually three grades in one class. There are many children with learning disabilities or disabilities in the classes and they are not properly equipped or staffed to handle these situations. I found more often than not I would receive a lot of calls asking me to pick her up in the middle of the day because they couldn't handle her disruptions. I had never seen disruptions like this from her she did not act that way at the home I really did feel that there was a lack of boundaries being set at the school and because the school is limited to the disciplinary actions that they can take she was able to take advantage of the system they would send her with a support worker the majority of the time if she didn't want to be in class and if she didn't want to do the school work she would act out so that could happen. If she didn't want her lunch she would freak out and ask the staff for food there continually they would give her the food just to make her be quiet rather than healing with the situation. I found that a lot of the time they just made it easy for her to get away with a behaviors she was having and making it extremely difficult for me to correct the behaviors while I wasn't there. I did Express this to them on numerous occasions. Throughout the year I continually got calls about her behavior but no one had mentioned that she was doing none of her school work whatsoever and they were not sending anything home with her even though I repeatedly asked please send the work that she doesn't do home with her and we can try to do it with her in the environment that maybe she's more comfortable in. On the last parent-teacher meeting I had with her teacher her teacher told me in response to her not doing any of her work that it was her responsibility to want to learn which I found honestly extremely ignorant and kind of just saying that she could not do the job that she had. I do understand that dealing with a lot of children with a lot of behaviors is extremely difficult and they are short staffed and I don't believe that any of them are properly trained or equipped to be dealing with children with these disabilities or this disorders. With the extremely full classes as well your child will be left to fend for themselves for the most part. I want to finish by saying that even though her experience at the school was extremely negative I pulled her out early and she went to another school and had zero issues. And she has had zero issues at the school she's at now.

I literally saw a kid destroying and loose hell on my classrom 303. he didn't get any punishment other than baby talk.
