My in-laws booked a snorkeling tour with Eco Adventures in Cabo Pulmo, which is located within a National Park. The drive in, though bumpy and mostly dirt road, was gorgeous and made for a great early morning drive on our way to the ocean.
When we arrived, they gave us all a little extra time to make sure we were able to eat and get checked in. The tour included wet suits and snorkeling gear, and there were several people attending to whatever we needed at the kiosk. They helped those of us who had never been snorkeling make sure our equipment was the right size, and how to use it. Before we knew it, we were off on the boat to go swim among the ocean life.
The boat ride wasn't too long, and the waves were a lot calmer where they took us to snorkel. We saw tons of pufferfish, and a giant ball of schooling fish, which was incredible. We even saw a couple of sea turtles!
Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and patient, as someone in our party with a medical issue needed to get back on the boat before the rest of everyone. Everything was fine, thanks to our guide. On the boat, we were given what seemed to be homemade bread and this basil tea, which I didn't partake in for my own medical reasons, but everyone else loved and appreciated.
The second hop on the boat was to swim with the sea lions, which was pretty awesome. I didn't get out of the boat for that part, since it was incredibly cold, but a lot of the sea lions were basking on the rocks and gave those of us in the boat quite a little show!
The park is about 2 hours from Cabo San Lucas, but totally worth it, if you're looking for a place for experienced and beginner-level snorkeling in Cabo Pulmo! I definitely recommend it. read more
