Not only she is getting better at riding but it's teaching her responsibility for taking care of something else other than herself. We purchased tickets thru Groupon which included $15 to use towards activities on the farm and you can always purchase more tickets onsite. Our group did a lil of everything , petting zoo, archery, maze, pumpkin decorating, pony riding. They have a small food court with 2-3 food vendors. The lady with the tacos and pupusas is so nice and friendly and the food is fresh and delicious. The hot dogs are yummy with an amazing snap to them. There was a small family business selling fresh sourdough as well so we had to pick some up. Yes the bathrooms are port a potties but they are clean. Internet is choppy as expected up on a mountain and actually forced everyone to be present and enjoy time together rather than being on our phones posting. BUT Once you get to the stop sign at the corner of beechwood and it tells you to turn on beechwood or keep straight to stay on beechwood (depending which direction you coming from) no matter what your gut tells you just keep riding straight to the top. It's a far drive up and you will start to think you not going to the right way but you are. The gate has sunset ranch on it so you will know. Push the button to be let in the gate, park and you will have a steep hill to walk up to get to the top. If you get lost just call so they know but you won't miss your trip they are used to people getting lost. My whole crew was lost and we still completed the hour trip in the time frame given. My guide was William and he was great. He gave clear instructions and was very patient when we didn't catch on and was struggling to control our horses. The trail was calming and scary being as though you have to stay close to the edge of the cliff. The horses know what they are doing. I had a horse named tater tot and he was very calm and chill and once he got comfortable with me he was a great listener. When you return you will be assisted on getting down but if you don't have strong knees or good balance be very careful because the ground is very far down from the horse and you could really injure yourself. I didn't get injured but someone else easily could. If you forget to bring cash like I did no worries they have QR codes that you can and use for Venmo, Cash App, pay pal which I loved!

The tickets are a great price, especially knowing that it ultimately goes back to help the animals. Some people seem to be confused on the nature of this establishment. It is not a traditional "petting zoo" -- its an *animal sanctuary*. (Which is well disclosed everywhere, if you just take a moment to read a little bit, you'll clearly understand that). Their whole point is to rescue farm animals from cruelty and *slaughter* -- so it seems like common sense that a place that literally rescues farm animals from being slaughtered would also, of course, oppose slaughter and therefore, support veganism. Not complicated to comprehend if you just think it through a little. Obviously, it wasnt forced anyway -- it was just offered incase people were interested. No pressure. All of the volunteers we encountered were incredibly sweet and knowledgeable. You can tell theyre genuinely passionate about animals. They enforced the boundaries of the animals well, while keeping things fun and safe for everyone. Awesome facilities, very clean, and well planned. My family and I drove out to see this place last weekend because we love animals and had heard…read moreabout it for years. We arrived to find parking along a busy highway (?!?), with golf carts shuttling visitors to and from the entrance, just a few feet away from cars whizzing past. That was weird. Then we got to the sort of holding area where they keep guests until their reservation time. Before we went in, the owner came out to greet us...sort of. She gave us a basic history of the place, but before she did, she wished us "happy pride" and told us all about how virtuous she was, as if everyone should be celebrating? Weird and inappropriate to say the least. The last thing she did before allowing us the entrance we'd paid handsomely for, was to lecture us about becoming vegans. Which is one of my biggest pet peeves about vegans to begin with. Then she stood at the entrance and offered everyone literature on veganism as we walked past. I declined. Wholly inappropriate, offensive and off putting. I didn't pay to be lectured about something I disagree with. It was nice to (finally) see and interact with the animals, but some of the volunteers were too much. I understand they're used to dealing with idiots every weekend, but some of the instructions they were giving were flat out dangerous, like having babies (maybe 18 months old) feed carrots to grabby, nippy horses. Bad idea when little hands aren't any bigger than the carrots. Most (not all) volunteers were just a bit too power trippy and under-educated for my taste. I will say the facilities were pretty clean and appeared well kept, but the horses and donkeys were filthy and in dire need of grooming. Give your visitors brushes and curry combs and show them how to brush the animals. Win-win for everyone. It was nice to hang out with the animals, but most of the people I could do without. Probably won't be back again.
