Pool locker room
Mira S.

Whatever people, it's not Equinox. They have decent swimming hours, especially when you consider you can go to any other CPD pool for the low low price of $15/month or $40 for three. The lockers are nice and pretty new, and sturdy and functional, so I dont swim in constant fear of having my stuff absconded with. The showers are typical public showers, although they have curtains now, contrary to other reviews. Weirdly they seem to waste a shocking amount of water--in a single visit I saw two sink faucets and one shower left on, full blast, with no one around. It's mostly rundown, especially the gym, but it looks perfectly functional. It's a small room the with the basics, cardio and some strength training machines. There's a separate boxing gym downstairs that has actual rings. The whole place smells a bit dank, but it's an old building with a pool in it, so I'll get over it. There's lots of street parking, free and paid. As for the pool, I don't know about closures, so I can't opine at this point, I'd be annoyed if it were closed for weeks, but the occasional day I can handle. The staff is friendly, and while it's a bunch of 22-year-old kids who don't know that much, they can get you signed up and paid and answer at least questions about their own facilities, if not questions about wider CPD offerings. I totally recommend CPD facilities in general and this one, especially the pool, in particular.

Good veggie hot dogs.

“It was only 65 or so outside and too cold for Chase Park so instead of going to my back up indoor pool of Gill I figured lets check out Eckhart.”

We walked through security to enter, which was a pretty easy process and I appreciated the additional safety. They had so many different areas hosting different parts of the festival. I was impressed by the amphitheater and seating here. I visited to see the bean, but the park as a whole was really cool! While there's a lot of people, it doesn't necessarily feel crowded because it's so vast and spacious. This is a tourist spot definitely worth visiting.

I still can't believe that I made it here...absolutely feeling like a tourist (which I was) but as we were crossing the street I could already see a glimmer of the Cloud Gate shine and just couldn't believe how massive it really was. Not only it was massive so was the park as there were many features with a restaurant water feature and even various art scattered all around it's not just the Bean that many come here for but to just take in the beauty that sits right in the middle of a massive city giving you some bit of nature and fun all in one area. I'd return here in a heartbeat as I don't think that I'd see it's full glory but am so grateful to have a moment to take it all in as we just have moments to enjoy each and every day and this one was just as special to share with friends that enjoyed it all as well. Thank you!

A lot of nature of course. There's trails and an interpretive wetlands among the many things to come across while going through. Best to know about the transformation before going. It used to be the Stearns Quarry. The city purchased it in 2008, cleaned it up, and opened it the next year. Has lots of nature to see and more to do. There's more than a mile of paths, including recycled timber boardwalks, and walkways. At first this was the site of a coral reef if you can believe it. Limestone was formed, and there's been fossils discovered here that are now in the Field Museum. In the 1830s it became a quarry, and operated until 1970 when it became a landfill. There's a fishing pond that still has the old quarry walls. After opening this park there was cause for celebration. The community before this had a lack of green space. Have to go here if you like parks that have been restored from abandoned areas. It's quite impressive. There's all kinds of plants and wildlife.

Underrated and beautiful. It's got a fantastic view of the city skyline and there's a whole…read moreindustrial vibe going on but I don't mind it. It's serene and if it wasn't so warm I'd go to it more often. It's good for a long walk but there's no trees along that walk so I'll be frequenting more in the fall va the summer.

Field This playground features a giant rocketship-themed playground with mission control "knobs" and launch pad platforms, a rock climbing wall, numerous winding slides, a zip line and several additional climbing features. I went down one of the slides and got rub-burn (or is it called "slide-burn"?) on my elbows. I would estimate that the slide is about 20-feet long. Disclaimer: I have children. So no, I didn't hangout at the playground by myself like a creepy old dude (not disclaiming that I'm a creepy old dude, in general). And if the main structure wasn't enough, there's a second area younger children to enjoy slides, swings, a small swinging bridge and many other climbing features I have to say, this playground was one of the best public playgrounds I've been to. So sad that I couldn't check in, as there was no Yelp listing of it.... until now! :-D

It's huge, multiple levels. There are at least three slides coming out from it. Lots of places for kids to climb and scurry and jump. But that part was too big for my kiddo so we went to the smaller section a few steps away. There was a structure to climb, several slides, some bars, and then even a little further away a bunch of swings. I tried to keep her from seeing the swings, to be honest, since I didn't want to have to deal with an upset kiddo when we had to leave without enough swing time. She played around a bit but didn't seem as interested in the playground. We went down a slide or two, but some of them had standing water since it has been a bit rainy recently. The playground isn't technically fenced in, but it is effectively so because it's behind the practice courts which are all fenced in. It'd be hard for your kid to get away from you. There's a parking lot for the Norridge Park District building but the neighborhood parking could be tricky, especially in the summer because there is restricted parking from Memorial Day to Labor Day (ostensibly because of the large pool structure that would keep the residents from having any parking for three months otherwise). The terrain of the park is wood chips and soil, decidedly not my favorite (maybe especially after a rain) and she got dirty pretty quick. I may bring her back when she's old enough to play on the rocket ship, but this won't be a park that we return to much if ever.
