The hubs had been here several times, but I had not been yet. It has been on my list a while and his kids live here and have never been. From the outside tou wouldn't think much but on the inside, you can feel the history. The food was fantastic, large portions and VERY reasonably priced. Kudos to the owners who have been able to provide quality and keep reasonable prices during such a tough time and the surge in inflation. We got a full order of onion rings and they were monsters. I've not had batter that good and they were fried perfectly and weren't dripping in oil. I got the ABIY medium rare burger and added a slice of provel cheese.it was cooked perfectly and was a. Abundance of flavor. Other items ordered, per recommendation from Lala, was the Beer Battered Chicken sandwich, Grilled Chicken sandwich and Prime Rib sandwich. SO Good! Lala was fantastic! She made sure we had everything we needed, made great food recommendations and was super sweet. If I lived here, it would be my go-to for a burger. Came to Jefferson City for a family affair, and Ecco Lounge was a recommendation we received for an evening out. The place is located in downtown Jeff City, and its exterior made me question whether this was the right choice - I'm married, with a kid in tow, with another couple joining us. We walk into the place and enter into the bar, and I knew this place was perfect....for when I was right out of school. It was a bit rough, with some interesting characters at the bar. But the food was recommended highly, so onward....I spoke to my son and told him, "this is the type of place you keep your order simple...like burgers or chicken sandwiches. Don't experiment too much!" Well, right off the bat he goes for a ribeye steak special with a baked potato. Oh well, I'm thinking, good luck with that! My wife ordered a salad with chicken, and I ordered the cheeseburger highly recommended by the waitress. The sandwich would come with fries. We both ordered the burgers medium rare. Beers were ordered all around, and I must say they were cold and tasty. What we got caused me to doubt my ordering strategies for types of restaurants. My son's ribeye looked, and according to him, tasted spectacular. His baked potato was also spot on. My wife's salad came out and looked pathetic. She left half of it. My cheeseburger would have been recommended by the NHL....the burgers were burnt hockey pucks. As a big guy, I don't often leave much food on the table, but I couldn't get more than 2 bites down my throat. My wife looks at me, I at her, and we both smile as we watch our son with that steak....how can this be? Perfectly done steak, burnt hockey puck burger? My wife's salad looking like the scraps at the bottom of the salad bar at closing time? Go figure. Gave Ecco 2 stars because, hey, that steak and the beers were pretty good, but basic food? Nah. I enjoyed the French Dip sandwich with waffle fries, my companions had the fish with waffle fries and the pork tenderloin sandwich which was huge! The food was great. Customer service was really good our waitress was very attentive and knew the menu very well. The ambiance is that of a hometown bar/grill. Best service I had in a while in any restaurant I ever went to whenever I travel. I am a restaurant manager and work for a local known company in the DC area and I was so wowed from the moment we walked in and to we left. Host greeted us and took our drink order and our server was very attentive and very personable. The energy in the building was great. Order a French dip and my dad and step mom order a prime rib sandwich. I haven't had a good French dip in a while. From the service to the food, I highly recommended this place if you are visiting or in Jefferson City. Definitely coming back when I visit again. Thank you guys for a great experience! read more

After a disastrous attempt to eat at Prison Brews, we were now overly hungry, annoyed and impatient. Fortunately, the second we walked in the door at the Ecco Lounge we were well taken care of. Their host spotted us before we saw him. We were seated promptly and the wait staff was quick and attentive. My daughter saw the Moose Burger and pretty much ordered it for me. I am glad she did as I was delicious. Cooked perfectly and the prime rib on top was a great add. The fries were fantastic and they nailed the Long Island Ice Tea and my wife's Tito's and Lemonade. Both drinks were strong, but very good. The onion rings were big yet crisp, light and tasty. The fried mushrooms likewise had a nice crunch and a great flavor. The building is definitely rustic, which is great, but make sure you go in the front if you have trouble with steep stairs. The only slight issue we had are the booths are bit small side to side. My wife and I bumped elbows a few times. I'm definitely a broader fellow, but my wife is classically slender. Fine for families, but if I was here with 3 guys in business it would have been uncomfortable. Good news is they have tables in the back so not a major problem. First visit to this spot was a fair disaster. Salad was lifeless and somehow a burger and fries got burned badly (well =/=cinders). There wasn't enough time to redo the meal (I had to go) but management refunded me. My friends said the place is really good and has been a JC staple for decades so I thought I'd give it another try. Good meal, this time done right. Pricing isn't bad either. I suspect your experience might be more like the latter than the former. They have a pretty expansive menu for a pub, and a lot of stuff available to drink. No dessert menu though. (It *is* a pub) Place was quite packed ten minutes after I got there and seems to have a steady group of regulars, with the staff routinely stopping to chat with them. A neighborhood tavern (https://eccolounge.net) with a great, historic, old school tavern vibe and a friendly and attentive staff. Was in town on business and decided to try the place. There was plenty of parking on a Wednesday night and I was seated immediately. Started with a beer from Broadway Brewery (https://www.broadwaybrewery.com) out of Columbia MO, the Lofty Pursuits Stout. It was excellent. Unfortunately, it was the absolute best thing about the place. Noticed when I sat down that the booth seats had crumbs and food debris all over them. This did not surprise me as I watched the staff bus another table. The table was given a cursory wipe down but none of the condiments were moved or cleaned under. Additionally, the booth seats were not cleaned. I will note, that when the bartender cleaned the bar she moved the items and cleaned under them. This tells me that standards are not maintained across the sections. I had the German Potato Nachos as an appetizer. The potatoes were over cooked and tasted as if the fryer oil had not been changed in awhile. The cheese on top was hard, and over cooked. It's a shame because they sounded amazing when reading the menu, and I think they could be, but its obvious kitchen standards are not being maintained. For the entrée I had the Prime Rib Sandwich (see photo). It was fairly unappetizing looking upon delivery but I thought I would try it anyway. The meat needed to be trimmed of the fatty portions, but was well seasoned. However, meat and bread alone does not a sandwich make This would have been much better with some shredded lettuce and a couple of tomato slices. Finally, the horseradish sauce that came with the sandwich was bland and mild. The au jus was good and the bun was toasted perfectly. The fries were seasoned well, but again, the bad oil from the fryer gave them a bit of burnt coloring and taste. The pickle, hidden under the sandwich in the picture, was crisp and flavorful. All in all, the meal wasn't terrible, but it wasn't necessarily good either. Again, between the history and the food, this could have been epic. If standards are raised slightly in the cleanliness and in the kitchen, next time this could be a four or five star review. I would try it again, but, at this point I would direct people to go someplace else. read more

I was very disappointed with everything. I chose to try this place out for my birthday after reading the reviews. When my family and I, a party of 5, got there there was any kind of greeting. When we got to our table we were asked what we wanted to drink and had to ask what drinks they had because it wasn't on their menu and I had to ask specifically what they had besides bar drinks because I had kids out me. Then when the waitress came and introduced herself she never mentioned the special offered for that night. When we ordered there wasn't any mention of equipment being down that would delay receiving the food. We had 2 kids meals, a sandwich, and the prime rib dinner. When I received the salad that came with my dinner there was a hair in it, and they apologized and got me a new one. However, after an hour and a half of waiting we were finally told that they only had 1 fryer working so the kitchen was backed up. When the food finally arrived my prime rib wasn't medium like I ordered, it was medium well and room temperature. The fries that my family received weren't even hot. I let them know that I had ordered medium for the prime rib and it wasn't medium or hot. They apologized and said they would take money off, but they only took a small amount off which was basically the 2 kids meals. They did give us a coupon for 1/2 off appetizer and $2 off our next visit. I can guarantee there won't be a next visit especially with how expensive it was even after taking some money off. These things were so dang big, I thought they were biscuits!!! Not only did they catch our attention, we decided to get an order! We were ignored for about 15 minutes before someone on the wait staff approached and asked how we were doing. She apologized for the delay and took our order. We had a side of fried mushrooms for an appetizer which were delivered just a few minutes before our meals. The mushroom were good and piping hot but a little bland. My Ecco Blue cheese burger was great though and the fries had the perfect seasoning. My life partner had the sirloin salad and she claimed it was excellent.
