They picked her up the same day as she passed from the hospital. Once they had her, they took hand prints and footprints. We were able to take those home and include them in her memory box. They also gave us the medallion that identified her and my husband now wears it as a keepsake. The staff at Funeral Alternatives provided their services for our infant daughter for free and this was incredibly meaningful after our loss. They even took the steps to help us figure out how to travel internationally with her ashes. I could not recommend their services enough. They are kind, compassionate, and understanding. I am so grateful to everyone at Funeral Alternatives.

Paul, worked with us and gave us the run down. He made sure we understood every aspect of what was going on. When it was time to view our son DJ before his cremation and services, they prepared him with the utmost care. You could tell that they put their whole heart into having him ready for us. He was as handsome as the day he was born. Within 2 weeks of his passing we had his services. My family and I would highly recommend this place for any of your funeral needs. The care that was given was more than we expected.

Long story short, my grandmother paid for what she believed was the total cost of her funeral expenses using Mills & Mills. However, upon our arrival to Mills & Mills shortly after my grandmother's death, Mills & Mills told us that there would be additional costs to pay, totaling more than $1,500. They showed us that on my grandmother's contract that certain things were not mentioned. However, the things that they said were not mentioned on the contract... these are things that are required of all burials. I explained to Mills & Mills that we would not be paying for these added expenses. My statement to their staff was: "My grandmother's intent was to pre-pay for ALL of her funeral expenses, not just some of them. This is exactly what she believed she did. If she were alive today, and if she were sitting at this table with us, she'd be very angry that you're asking us for more money." After stating the above to Mills & Mills, they decided to remove the charge for this item / service. Their response to what I shared was very agreeable. For this, I was very thankful. It was already a very emotional day for us. If the above had not occurred, we would have had a very positive experience with Mills & Mills. Most everything else was done very professionally, and with great sensitivity to our family's loss. So, what could have been a 4 or 5 star experience for us ended up being 3 stars.

In short order (less than 72 hours) she was taken by EMT for a mental health evaluation. Funeral counselors guide grieving people through the funeral process; however, they also should be trained to identify and not take advantage of those in a mental health crisis. Giving away personal items and planning for your own death In Secret are indicators of a suicidal ideation. In this case the sales office took advantage of her, resulting in her signing the contract. Hopefully they have a recission period...but that may have passed as well.

From the beginning to the end of the process, we were treated with respect and compassion. Everyone there was wonderful but I have to single out Tiffany Marone, the funeral director who was there 24/7 for us no matter how busy she was. My phone calls and emails were returned promptly and she even went out of her way, coming in early (a couple times) to scan family pictures for us to use at Mom's Celebration of Life (that we had at another location). We ended up buying 5 Urns online and Tiffany took the time to transfer the ashes into them so we wouldn't have to handle them. I would definitely recommend Mills and Mills for your loved ones. I hope we don't need to use them again for a long time but when we do, we will go here. Can't say enough good things about them, would give them 10 stars if I could.

Ron Larson was helping my family plan final arrangements for a departed family member. The kids were talking about how much our dearly departed loved his children. Ron chimes in that not all fathers love their children and tells us in graphic detail about a video he saw online from a girl who was born although her mother had tried to abort her. WTF? Was I in the twilight zone? He ignoried everyones discomfort and described how it had failed and what it caused. I am sure his coworkers are good funeral directors and to Ron's credit he didn't hard sell us, the cremation was done on time, but he was disturbing and told too many personal uncomfortable stories. (another about about a neighbor girl whose alcoholic father used to beat her and how later she drowned in her families jacuzzi). This review is mine alone. The other family members for some reason accepted that "things in small towns are done differently", they had other things to think about, but I had never had an experience like this before.
