Stopped here on a weekend afternoon and enjoyed the coffee very much! It's simple stuff done well, very nice roasting and espresso quality. I'd like to return to try their flights or more unique options. This location is very casual and fairly comfortable. It was pretty empty when I visited so there were plenty of seats. WiFi was fast and great for getting some work done. Employees were super friendly. I'll definitely stop by again if I'm in the area. I wish they were open later in the evening though. I have seen this cafe frequently, but I'm always around after closing hours. So I purposely made this my chosen coffee spot. The drinks are somewhat limited and they have a coffee flight option but only cold coffee drinks. The staff is very friendly and conversational. The location is decently sized with a sprinkling of seating options. It's well appointed and they have a cool Mazam espresso machine. My only reason for bringing this down a star is the coffee. I ordered a 24-oz and asked for a triple instead of a quad shot raspberry beret (I think that's the name). The coffee tasted like a La Croix coffee. It was a whisper of flavor. I barely tasted the white chocolate and the raspberry. The coffee was smooth but also minimal tasting. I felt like it was mainly just milk with suggestions of other flavors. I'm not expecting diabetes level sugary, but this seemed a little odd. And no, I didn't ask for the drink to be remade. If the drinks are normally like this, then that's how I'm going to judge them. If you like coffee but don't like the strong taste of coffee, then this is the place for you. The ambience is great, the customer service is pretty good, the food is quick to the table and delicious. It felt a bit odd that the avocado toast does not actually include any other ingredients other than avocado, salt and pepper, but there are plenty of options you can add on, but every single option is an additional cost and the prices of the add-on options are not stated anywhere. Changing small details like adding an ingredient that is clearly on the menu seemed more difficult than an average business. (Except the avocado toast that is basic unless you pay extra for each individual ingredient.) You cannot order flights/drinks from previous months, despite the ingredients still existing in the Cafe. There is a Coffee flight and a soda flight, but there is no Tea flight and asking for a flight of drinks with just tea based options does not seem possible since they are strict about the flights being as is. Would be really amazing to have the opportunity to order a flight of 4 mini drinks maybe with a limited number of ingredient options in each drink - such as choosing a base and two extras from a limited menu of ingredients? read more

I come here to work weekly, never overcrowded, and it's such a cute hidden spot! They have pastries and breakfast sandwiches, you won't be disappointed. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered a coffee flight (fun!) and they were out of iced coffee so they subbed a chai. Interior was chic but cozy, outside seating had shade umbrellas and a decent number of tables. But I'll never be able to go back here in a million years. My wife got a coffee and I got this flight and with tax it was almost $25. That was bats, even by independent coffee shop standard. To make it worse, out of four drinks in the flight, the best I can say about any was "meh." The gingerbread chai would be more fitting in December, the caramel macchiato was a sugar bomb, and the doppio con panna was ridiculous; the whipped cream sort of clogged up at the top, not neatly dissolving into the espresso. I sucked the espresso up through a stirrer and sort of licked out a gob of cream here and there. The latte was okay. Just...okay. If I'm not mistaken, there weren't prices up to see, so buyer beware I guess, but I can get perfectly great coffee at any number of places for way less than Ebony and Ivory, and they don't need to trick me in with the novelty of what should be a hook (try a sampling so you know for next time!) not a racket. read more

A hidden gem amongst corporate and financial buildings, just off 7th street in Lacey. It's next door to Ricardo's which is also fun for happy hour or a steak. Ebony and Ivory have monthly drink flights which are a mix of coffees and teas and magical creations. Today I had the November flight and after tasting them all - which were each unique and tasty, I wish I could have just a flight of the creme brûlée latte. Give me 20oz of that - STAT! Granted, it's pretty sweet but the flavors are spot on and with no weird aftertaste! When you enter this nicely designed space, you'll see a black bookshelf to your right. That opens up into the next room which is filed with more seats and tables. Once we were not with out drinks, we left the flights on the counter by their buss bins and headed out, while smiling, thinking. How cute and great is this place?! VERY The staff were SO sincerely welcoming and helpful, bringing drinks to us rather than waiting at a counter. I might go back today too! read more

I think the only thing that I wasn't a big fan of was that they sell Costco pastries. That's the 1 star that stopped them from being a 5 star. But the inside was really pretty! Super cute coffee shop hidden away in a sea of office buildings- definitely would not have noticed without the help of Yelp. Unique specialty drinks and the super cute option to do a flight so you can try different drinks. The staff are super sweet and answer any questions and seem to have a rapport with locals. I've been a couple of times and enjoy the customizability of the drinks. They're also not too sweet and really let the beans shine. Their beans are great. Food wise they serve pastries for Topside but didn't have any the last time I went in. They also have really great pre made breakfast sandwiches you can get heated up. Great ambiance and a good amount of seating both indoor and outdoor, weather permitting. There's a high end restaurant in the same building. Parking is scarce. Such a cute place, and when the weather is nice you can sit outside. They also have a space you can rent in the back. I have been here twice, and the service was really awesome both times. I really love this place! There's plenty of room, it's cozy and adorable. I have loved every single drink I've tried. Last time I tried the sweet Caroline with white coffee and I loved how light the coffee taste is (I don't like burnt strong coffee) and my bf loves their chai tea lattes. I also recommend their Earl gray. They also occasionally sell mini cheesecakes which are pricey but worth an occasional treat. I went to the FEDERAL WAY LOCATION!! this place is legit. Probably one of the best coffee places I've been to in the area. Sooooo many places to sit both I side and outside. Super cute private space to sit that sits up some stairs so you can look out over things. Now before I talk about the coffee and food I want to commend the gals working here. SOOOO friendly. Even if the food wasn't that great they'd make me want to come back. On to the coffee/food Raspberry beret. Very good flavor. Was a little sweeter than I prefer but that could be fixed by cutting a bit of the syrup that's in it. Flavor was spot on white chocolate raspberry mocha. Snickerdooodle Cookie: great flavor!! I appreciate any place I call a cultural bright spot. I also appreciate a different experience for coffee in one of if not THE best region for coffee in the domestic US. We decided to try the coffee flights, the absolute best way to explore the uniquely Different coffee at Ebony and Ivory. The wait staff was an absolute joy to talk to while ordering. The environment is rustic contemporary, with coffee themed soft seating for folks that will stay a while and matte black metal chairs for those that caffeine up and leave. The space in its entirety is pleasant with an appropriate level music in order to allow comfortable levels of conversation. Larger parties or even folks looking for a quieter environment can sit in the more private room in the back which features two sliding barn doors in case your large party wants a more private experience these doors are closeable. This room features a large screen artificial fire adding to the ambiance. Even seeing it from outside the room adds something extra. The coffee flights we had today were an absolute perfect choice. We walked away deciding the Coconut Matcha Latte, Kahlua and Cream and the Caramel Macchiato would be coffees we would have again. Glad to have stopped by today. Upon entering we were welcomed by friendly staff members. It's a very warm and inviting space. They have a bar, some tables and chairs to dine in, as well as outdoor seating. It was our first time there and the cashier was able to guide us through the menu. She also informed us of what was popular. I ordered A Kiss From Rose with oat milk and my husband ordered the classic Ebony and Ivory. I enjoyed my coffee it was the perfect blend of the rose flavor -not too strong and not so subtle. I would order it again! The classic Ebony and Ivory was also very pleasant and not too sweet. I love that their menu is creative with unique flavors to choose from. The cute barista named Sarah was extremely helpful and managed my indecisiveness with ease. She recommended a delightful chai that was equally smooth, equally spicy, and equally smiley!
