In the heart of Wheaton in a quiet residential area, this is a terrific playground for all ages (even Grandpa's!) Large sand area and several different play areas with challenges for kids of all ages. The three year old is adventurous and was able to go on most of the equipment (with me hovering) and the 1 year old wanted to.

My 2 yr old does it all (a little of a daredevil) and loves the big sand box. They have a nice picnic area and a huge field if you wanted to play soccer, kickball, frisbee, etc. they also have a bike trail or sidewalk that goes all the way around the park so you can bike ride around or bring scooters. You can spend 10 mins here or several hours here. There's usually other kids (almost always) here that have always been super friendly and its never been too packed where it's not fun. I think this park has almost everything (besides a zip line) that you would want at a park! I'll be back here, as usually!

The ground is super squishy rubber matting: nice shock absorbtion for all the running, and a fall on that wouldn't hurt nearly as much as on other material. The swings are surrounded by wood chips. There are several covered picnic areas and lots of trash/recycling bins. There's a sledding hill and a stadium as well. The grounds were well maintained: clean, grass and plants cared for. A great place for kids to play!

The turf is super soft so no worries for the dangers of falling or the mess of wood chips. That said, I gave 4 stars because of how underwhelming the park is. As a mom of a 3yr old AND a 5yr old I feel this park is far more geared towards the ity bits (0-3) vs. bigger elementary age/size kids. I did however love that it was sunken away from the parking lot and had a bike/scooter trail around the perimeter and a few benches on the pathway along with a shaded gazebo with seating for a lunch break. Overall it's adorable and if my kids were smaller it'd be on regular rotation. I love that it's here for the new mamas & daddies but it likely won't be the best fit for our family to often frequent. However, if I get some time alone with my 3yr old, we may come back, just the two of us

A mom-of-two's (a toddler and preschooler) straight-forward review -…read more This is one of our favorite parks for various reasons. The playground and tennis courts are merely separated by a parking lot therefore it is easy to transition between the two. Our four year old has begun taking tennis lessons from her daddy and we usually do not have to wait for an opening in the morning. There are four tennis courts and they are well maintained. Our 2.5 year old does not share the same interest as her sister and her attention span is relatively short. So after participating in a few drills and playing ball girl, she would request to go to the playground. The playground has a rubberized surfacing with several climbing structures, four slides, a swaying boat, and swing set. The playground does not get overly crowded and there are plenty to keep our girls entertained. There is a sheltered section that's great for families to hang out when it gets overly hot. There is one small con though - the only bathroom is a porta potty by the parking lot. Fortunately we have yet to make use of it and I hope it stays that way.

As a mom of little ones there is always the quest to find a great park to appease all parties…read more Winding Creek Park is one of the best out there for young, really young and some middle aged parents. ;) For the wee ones the park boasts two baby swings, a smaller playset that crawlers can navigate with help, a calm sounding babbling creek, lots of clean, fluffy grass to spread a blanket on and gaze at the clouds and a path that is stroller friendly. For the elementary set there is a bigger play area with lots of spinning things(you literally, sit, stand or hang off these contraptions and spin at high speed. $50 you will take turns with your kid!), swings, a super tall slide and lots of things to climb, swing, jump, hang, slide on. The park has two baseball diamonds and the creek is pretty enough to peak creative play and maybe get a little muddy. For the adults there are plenty of benches, a picnic table under shelter, a private parking lot, no sand AND a potty! A Port-o-potty of course but in a pinch it works. One worthy note is that WCP is on the Park Districts short list of parks to rent. They put quite a chunk of change into it with the added bike path, brick paved parking lot and covered picnic area. That fact alone makes it one of the area's best parks! WCP was renovated with the new playsets a few years back and has quickly become a favorite meeting spot for playgroups from the area and from other suburbs(mom's network at play for that). So pack a picnic, bring some balls and enjoy one of the best parks out there!

To name a few items, there is a sandbox, rocking boat, lemonade stand, small slides, firetruck with pull-up bar, and merry-go-around. 2) The other section is situated along Clarendon Hills Road and it is for older children. It is a large playground with steep slides, tall monkey bars, corkscrew climbers, rock climbing wall, swing sets, and spiralizing ladders. Even though this section is meant for older children, there is a small section for young toddlers that has short slides and ladybug and bumblebee rides. 3) There are plenty of parking for both sections and the both parking lots are close to the playgrounds. 4) There are tennis courts nearby which works out perfectly for our preschooler to have a small tennis session with her daddy before going to the playgrounds. Cons: 1) Both playgrounds can get crowded on the weekends. However, it is close to the library. On a hot, summery day, it is easy to just go across the street and freshen up at the library.
