Cons: 1) It's hard to find a single complaint...but I guess if I had to name one, there are plenty of parking but they are not close to the playground. A mom-of-two's (a toddler and preschooler) straight-forward review -…read more Pros: 1) The playground is vast with various activities that applies to younger and older children - climbing ropes, bridge, rock climbing wall, various slides, zip line, monkey bars, etc. My younger daughter is 2.5 years old and love walking across the bridge. There are ropes to hold to but the little daredevil in her would just run across so it is important to be watchful of the child and be sure they won't trip and fall through the ropes. 2) The whole playground has a rubbery ground so it is very comfortable and safe. 3) There is a splash pad in between the toddler and older children sections. I am uncertain when it actually turns on. We have been twice, once at 9 AM and a second time at 3:30 PM. It was on in the afternoon and several kids were running in and out of the splash pad. It's a great option to have when it's hot and sunny out. 4) There are six tennis courts nearby and this works out perfectly for our preschooler to squeeze in a tennis session with her daddy before or after the playgrounds. Cons: 1) Not a con at all - But the playground is so vast that I can barely capture the whole frame in one picture!

It seems like the two names, Oakbrook Terrace and Heritage Park, are used interchangeably. Nonetheless, this was a random discovery when I was browsing Google Maps for playgrounds to check out and it is a definite keeper! The park is quietly tucked within a neighborhood. So far we have visited twice in the morning and there were very little people to share the space with. Although I would like the social factor and enjoy the bustle with running and laughing children, but the quietness is particularly beneficial to my firstborn's short attention span. It allows her to stay focused on her tennis lessons with her daddy. The tennis courts are well maintained and within walking distance of the playground. It is easy for us to toggle between the two. The playground appears to be recently renovated. There is a small section for toddlers and larger section for older kids. The space is well divided so the younger children can stay in their area without feeling intimidated. The flooring for both sections is a mix with some parts having wood chips and others having rubber. The rubbery ground is a uphill and down slope climb and it was a great way for my girls to run up and down to expense their endless energy. Otherwise, there is also the typical playground equipment such as slides, climbing ropes, ladders and spirals, and monkey bars. Side note - This playground is incredibly close to Frankie's Deli which is a favorite of ours!

Was my first time there but was a really fun experience! It was big enough where everyone has their own space and you don't feel crowded. We were actually able to do a bible study with some friends without being distracted and having people loud and around us. Really enjoyed my time there. The playground and tennis courts are merely separated by a parking lot therefore it is easy to transition between the two. Our four year old has begun taking tennis lessons from her daddy and we usually do not have to wait for an opening in the morning. There are four tennis courts and they are well maintained. Our 2.5 year old does not share the same interest as her sister and her attention span is relatively short. So after participating in a few drills and playing ball girl, she would request to go to the playground. The playground has a rubberized surfacing with several climbing structures, four slides, a swaying boat, and swing set. The playground does not get overly crowded and there are plenty to keep our girls entertained. There is a sheltered section that's great for families to hang out when it gets overly hot. There is one small con though - the only bathroom is a porta potty by the parking lot. Fortunately we have yet to make use of it and I hope it stays that way.
