A friendly and welcoming service by a competent man in a quaint workshop in the beautiful medieval town centre of Esslingen. Anybody who is into high end craftsmanship and woodwork can have a field day, smelling the instruments and watching the Mittenwald-trained master at work.
My daughter went there to buy her second violin, an intermediate instrument. It's a one up from the beginners level, so we weren't intent on splashing out a huge amount of money, but the service was still excellent. Everything she needed to know about caring for the instrument was explained to her, and every layman's question about violin making and instrument quality was answered enthusiastically and in depth. The daughter was invited to make herself comfortable in the back room for two whole afternoons where she played her way through an arsenal of instruments and bows until she finally found and picked her thing.
And whilst she was doing that, she also got her old instrument re-adjusted for free. She hasn't stopped playing since. read more
