If it is possible to give a zero star, this place would be a negative five stars. It is that bad. I wish I took even more photos. This place is disgusting. Since I'm forced to give at least one star, I will start with their one positive feature. They have their own access to Pompano Beach. It's a great way to see the sunrise. And why are they called a "resort"? They are worse than a Motel 6. At least all the Motel 6 that I've stayed during my younger days were clean. We had room 31. It is at the end, around the corner on the back side. Looking from the outside, it was already disgusting. Take a look at the rusted AC unit in the photo, rusted nails and unpainted exposed wood. Hey at least the AC works, that is if I dare to breathe the air coming from that dirt-crusted front. See photo. Have they ever cleaned this thing? Just looking at the photos is giving me PTSD. They shoved a king (maybe queen) size bed into an area that is clearly too small to fit normal furniture, so there are no night stands on either side of the bed. See photo. It's just the bed, and no place to put a phone. My husband uses a CPAP machine, and we had to get creative to fit the machine near him. Again, the floor is disgusting, so we didn't want to put things on the floor, either. The mattress is extremely lumpy and overused such that I sink down several inches when I lay down. I am not a big person. I couldn't get comfortable all night and maybe slept for two hours. The closet has no door or cover and has zero hangers. ZERO. The light is the old-fashion pull-string type that has yellowed and open-frayed at the end. See photos. The kitchen floor is nearly bare-wood. A smaller, shorter piece is clearly a poor repair that sits lower and sinks in when you step on it. It was a trip hazard. See photo. The stove is sort of usable. It's the narrow kind. Don't look at the window. The trims are not square with too much plaster. I didn't dare to touch anything. Maybe it opens, maybe not. Don't know. See photo. The bathroom amenity is one bar of soap. See photo. There were two plastic cups and towels. Again, it's just like Motel 6. This is NOT a resort. Don't look up, either. You'll see all the ceiling crack lines, stains, and poorly done drywall repairs with uneven drywall mud. See photo. Parking is double-stacked outside. Hopefully, no one will block you in. See photo. We left after one night and checked into the nearby Hampton Inn instead. (Much newer and clean!) Because we were there for a family reunion, we handed the keys to our SIL and niece who wanted to see "how bad could it be???" There was heavy rain that evening. I have traveled all over the world; everything from Motel 6 to the Marriott on Capri, Italy. This is the worst place EVER!! I was actually booked and had paid for 3 nights. After 1 night, I packed up and left. Mold in the window of the shower. "Stains" of who knows what on the curtains. Only 1 electrical outlet in the room/kitchenette. 1 Lamp besides the bathroom light and kitchen "light". Pealing paint, bathroom flooring coming up. Kitchen dishes unsanitized, as per a note in the kitchen. Why this is called a "resort" I don't know. The pool is very lovely. No shampoo or other toiletries. No hair dryer. No hangers in the "closet". Shower floor had no "grids" to keep from slipping. My suggestion: Seek accommodations elsewhere!! read more

This hotel has something for everyone. We are regular guests, visiting the Ebb Tide several times a year, from 3 nights to 7 nights. We have watched the amazing transformation of this gem in Pompano! From new grills, new tiki huts, pool chairs, paved walkways, and room upgrades. We always feel just as "at home" here as our own home. Karen is always welcoming, and Billy keeps the grounds beautiful. My daughter has grown up with Ebb Tide, and we will continue to come back. If you are looking for ocean front, relaxing, clean, and fun, you found your place. They have rooms for all budgets, and the views are unbeatable. We booked this hotel about 2 months ago and communicated that we would be traveling as a family with our young daughter who was 2. We were told it would not be an issue and they had a pack and play available. After a long day of travel we arrived at the hotel around 5pm or so. I went to check in, they charged my card and said they would bring the pack and play up to the room. I knew we were on the 2nd floor as it had the best ocean view. When I went up the stairs to get to the room, I saw alot of construction on the railing and all over the deck that led us to the room. There were loose pieces of wood, construction supplies, the railing didn't really seem that stable and there was an additional wood all along the railing. I asked about the work and was told they were just doing some minor work. That being said, no one contacted us to tell us their railing wasn't up to code and there would be construction right outside our room or thought that having a 2 year old in this situation would not be wise. We got into our room and I was upset about the construction. The manager of Ebb tide came up and I explained my concerns with my daughter and her saftey. She told me that she would give me a FULL refund, if i wasn't comfortable staying there. My husband was currently getting our stuff from the car. I said I needed to talk to my husband and see what he thought. He comes up and says that he heard I felt it wasn't safe. We then began looking around the room, the window that we look to see the ocean was so dirty it was hard to see out of , I guess then don't clean them before arrival. There was also a window that did open to get ocean air to look out from our room on the 2nd floor. That window did not have a screen or a lock. Once I saw that, I absolutely felt it was unsafe for our daughter. We began searching online for another hotel that we could stay at for the next 5 days, begining that night. We were having a hard time finding one and thought we might have to stay the first night there, during this process i tried to set up the pack and play that was covered in dust and looked like it was from 1970. The legs on the bottom did not come out and the entire thing was filthy. That was the last straw, we would find another place. We tried to call the hotel office 12 times and no one answered when we went to look at another hotel. The Residence Inn Marriott was able to accomodate us for the next 5 days. We continued to call the front desk as they had a sign in the window that they were on property and to just call them. When someone finally called us back, we let them know about the window and that we felt it was absolutely unsafe for our daughter to stay and we would be moving to another hotel. This was about 2 hours after the initial check in, nothing had been unpacked, nothing had been used in the room. The girl told us to leave the keys in the room and they would refund us in the morning to come by the office. I called her back to tell her we couldn't lock the room and she said it didn't matter. So we left the keys in the room, got us stuff out and went to the Residence Inn. The next morning I called to see if I needed to go by the hotel to process the refund and she told me that they could only give me a partial refund because i had been in the room too long trying to find another hotel, and that was what the manager/owner was teling her. When the manager told me that they would give me a full refund if we weren't comfortable staying, she didn't say that I needed to leave the room at that second, and we never saw the manager again. I asked to come meet with the manager and was very upset about them refusing to give us a full refund for a railing that wasn't up to code and a window that was an extreme safety issue and she told me that the manager will not be avaialble to talk to us the entire week and they didn't care about bad reviews or me being upset. What i took from this entire experience is the manager lied to my face, doesn't care about the saftey of my 2 year old daughter and truly their other guests. They did give an option to move into a lower room for 2 nights, another room for 2 nights and then they would have to move us back into the upper room on the last night. At this point, I did not want to move 3 times and be right back in the same scenario for the last night. Besides the saftey issues, the hotel is extremely run down. There is an completley rusted air conditioner, the soap dish in the bathroom is coming off the wall, the entire property needs a complete face lift. All of that I could of endured or if it was just my husband and I, we would of stayed, however the safety issues were what kept us from staying. They should be happy we checked out, as if something had happened, they would of been sued and never able to operate their business again as we have all seen in the news, when the child falls out of a cruise ship window and dies. This place is so cute!!! While the AC is running constantly, it never gets too cold. I slept so well as the beds are comfortable. The neighbors were not too loud. Waking up right next to the beach was such a pleasant experience, and this trip was nothing but relaxing. I was also provided with everything I asked for/needed. well I'm going to keep this short but accurate. 4.5 star is a joke, think of the seedy beachside slasher motel. Now your in the ballpark. They had the nerve to demand making a copy of my credit card, I was not sure if the front desk staff were documented workers. This place is dirty with a capital D! If you're use to living in a dirty trailer park then this might be your nirvana but if you have a job making more than minimum wage look around! I would give zero stars if i could, this place is absolutely terrible. My parents haven't been on vacation in a very long time and were looking so forward to staying here because it was amazing when they last went in 2014 but it went completely downhill. The second i arrived there I said to them this is ghetto and they brushed it off. Just to start off floor was dirty, bed sheets had stains, the bed blanket was a moving blanket, scratches and holes in the wall, sink won't turn off, AC worked but looks like it shouldn't (picture attached), key to the room worked when it wanted to and to top it off mold everywhere which got me sick. the handy man there was amazing and so helpful trying to help us with the key and sink but as my parents tried really hard to brush everything off and stay there, they just got to a breaking point and we had to go down the road. save yourself the headache and avoid read more

We stayed here for a long weekend it was an older hotel with about 25 rooms located on the beach (see my pics). No fancy thrills here or any extras. The best parts about this place is that it's on the beach, it has a nice courtyard with a pool, shuffle board, and charcoal grills. Oh yeah, it's within walking distance to Brother Tuckers and The Briny Pub, hell yeah! The rooms need some upgrading. The blinds in our room didn't work right, the AC was a wall unit that required us to keep the bathroom door closed so all the cold air didn't get sucked away into the black-hole non AC Bathroom, but did I mention this place is right on the beach:) Our room had a small kitchen with a stove/oven and a nice sized refrigerator. The motel had a very friendly staff and the property is pet friendly too. Not sure if we will stay here again because my kids, especially my son and possibly my wife too, didn't liked the room. But, you know, it's right on the beach. My daughter and I would go again ( she's just like me), but I would do some more research on other properties in the area for the price we paid and compare them. Perfect location, private beach and small heated pool. Outside is AMAZING, like an older courtyard motel with grassy areas and BBQ pit right on the beach. Inside though is another story. Like an old motel it has cheap mattresses, thin towels and generally cheap low end furnishings. Only one lamp for the entire room, unable to open a window, no fan in the bathroom, even a hole in the wall . Prices run @ $120. a day in season. Most rooms are efficiency, have some with full kitchens. So if you are here for the beach only, you won't find a better place, here is a quiet stretch of beautiful private beach, surrounded by high end pompano beach properties. But don't stay here if you are planning to spend much time in the room cause it ain't good folks. read more

If I could give half stars, Ebb Tide would get 3.5 from me. My husband and I stayed very last-minute after cruising and before flying out of Fort Lauderdale the next day. We both read several excellent reviews about this place. Many give the disclaimer that "this isn't the hotel for everyone" if you're looking for the most modern of amenities and that it's "old Florida". While I mostly agree with these assessments, there are some things that can't be chalked up to a kitschy, retro vibe; some things are maintenance issues that haven't been addressed. There were some really great things about this place, and some that could use some improvement. First, the positives: 1. The courtyard and pool area are gorgeous and well-maintained. 2. We had an ocean view room with two large windows overlooking the Atlantic. It was picturesque. 3. The room was decorated tastefully, and it was clean. 4. For an oceanfront hotel, the room was reasonably priced. If it weren't oceanfront, it would definitely have been overpriced. The negatives: 1. This is marketed as a "boutique" hotel. I think of upscale when I think of a boutique hotel. This was not upscale. 2. The original tile in the bathroom was pink. I know this because it's been painted white and that paint is now peeling in many places. 3. The room was hot. The lowest we were allowed to set the AC was to 68, and that just doesn't get it done on a hot Florida day. 4. There were parts of the flooring planks that were torn and in need of replacing, along with the wood on the doors. 5. The door to the room was flimsy. There was a deadbolt, but I could have easily broken it down myself had I wanted to. All in all, this was a fine hotel for one night. The area was ideal and very quiet. I would likely stay here again. Some moderate upgrades and maintenance would really make this an excellent place to stay. read more

I made a 5 star review last summer and said I'd be back. Well I'm back! Another fantastic stay, and this time on our honeymoon. The pool was perfect and the staff was kind as always. Our room was clean and affordable. The Ebb Tide is making many renovations to make future stays even better. We can't wait to come back again next year and to bring future family here on our vacations! If you love a laid back quiet beach vacation, this is the place for you. The pier is a quick walk down the beach with site seeing and inexpensive fishing rod and bait rental. The Briny Pub is a couple minutes walk down the street and after you eat their fish and chips, you won't want it anywhere else! Great experience. Called last minute Friday afternoon and was happily booked for the weekend. For being located directly on the ocean and a quick uber ride down to Beach Place, the rate was extremely reasonable. Our room had two beds, pullout couch, full little kitchen and dinette table. It was perfect for a long weekend of grilling out and wandering around the beach. I will definitely be heading back again and again - our new go-to spot for sure. read more

UNSAFE! The door to my room was opened with another guest's key in the middle of the night. No one from motel is onsite at night for help. Management then handled the situation poorly and even had the nerve to blame me by saying I did not lock door properly. There was not even a safety chain on the door. I love this place! It is old school Florida! There are no frills, the price is right, the staff is friendly, the rooms are comfortable and clean. My room was a one bedroom with two Queen beds, a bathroom, and a small efficiency kitchen. I only need to leave for beer after initial stocking. The pool are is nice. It is quiet. The beach is awesome. I had originally booked a Saturday and Sunday night through Expedia and was able to leave a day early. On the way down, on I-95, I called and asked about extending to include the Friday night. They said, "No problem. What time will you be arriving?" I told them I was not sure but probably midnight or later. The said, "Well, we will not be in the office. It will be closed. After entering the gate, follow the yellow brick road (concrete path is yellow'ish) toward the pool. You will see steps to a two story behind the pool. Take the left steps and your room number is 22. We will leave he door unlocked, the keys in the door, and the TV and lights on. In the morning just stop by the office." Wow! I knew I had chosen the right place then. I was amazed. They were so cool. It is convenient to everything although I did not need much. I highly recommend if this is the style you enjoy. Owner operated and resident on premises. Very nice woman. read more

Let me start off with the fact that I usually stay at the beachcomber, which I love, whenever I visit pompano beach. However, this time, I was taking our family dog with us and this was the only place that supposedly is pet friendly. As it turns out, my husband was approached by the lady working in the front desk, a brunette, and asked to put Max, our dog, away. She claims guests next door complained of the barking at 6 AM. Little did she know, these are the same guests that were up past midnight, playing dominos, drunk, and hollering profanity and disturbing the peace of all the other guests there. My husband had to ask them to kindly keep it down after putting up with all the ruckus. My husband told her about what happened the night before and she replied, "make the best of it." Really???? WOW! Flabbergasted at her choice of words. How is that a resolution? A guest comes to you with a complaint and all you can think of is "make the best of it". Either way, we complied and left our dog alone in the room. Later that afternoon, we had some family over to celebrate my 6 year olds' birthday and apparently, all the common areas were not necessarily available for all guests. The same lady who asked my husband to put our dog away came over to me and in front of my relatives reprimanded me and told me the table we were sitting on belonged to the guests in room 16. She also said I couldn't have more than two guests over. However, nothing of the sort as far as the number of guests allowed or which tables belonged to which guests were stated in the contract, confirmation notice, nor were any signs up stating anything to this anywhere in the "resort". I have stayed in better places (real resorts) and have never had any issues of this kind. I've had people come over all the time and all common grounds are available to ALL guests. This behavior from this lady was very unprofessional and unnecessary! It was pouring down due to the storm and she said we had to leave the area and she would give us an hour for all to leave. My relatives had to leave in the middle of a downpour. She made all of us feel so uncomfortable. I was embarrassed and annoyed that this was actually happening in a so-called resort. They also make you pay in full upfront, so we were stuck there for 3 days. When my husband went to ask for a partial refund, as we were totally uncomfortable there, a different lady was there and she offered a gift card in lieu of a refund. Seriously? I wanted to leave and never come back!! Worst experience ever...and it had nothing to do with the weather but ALL to do with poor customer service. The only thing you gained were bad reviews. Beware, unless you rent the properties on the first floor facing the actual ocean, you are treated like you are a second rate guest! Not all amenities are available to all guests alike. If you own a 4 legged family member, make sure they don't bark! Apparently, it's okay to be drunk and loud into the wee hours of the night but God forbid you have a dog barking. By the way, our dog was not barking at 6 AM. My husband walked him outside of the property at that time. Max only came out again at 9AM when there were people in the pool and the rowdy guests were also up and were quick to grab the only tables that are available to everyone. They were up real early ever morning that we were there and took possession of that area. No one else had a chance in hell to get to use those tables. Lovely place, reasonably priced. Right on the beach. We walked on the beach for about 10 min to a burger joint for lunch. Staff delightful. Had a nice looking pool that I didn't have a chance to use. Room small but clean and pretty and comfortable. A small pond just outside our door had several beautiful koi. Sparrows and mourning doves, and other small birds spent their time flitting between the trees and bird feeder, chattering. The only reason for lack of 5th star is that there is no fan or window in the bathroom. The bed was hard but comfortable. Wireless and TV were good, so I didn't miss Downton Abbey!
