I requested a Zoom interpreter for an hour and can't believe they charged two interpreters for a 4-hour billing period. I asked them, and they said, " For virtual requests, the interpreters have said that the pace and format make it too difficult for 1 interpreter to cover alone. Online tends to move much faster than in-person workshops. For that reason, it has become the standard in our field to schedule a team of 2 interpreters for a 1-hour webinar or Zoom workshop." In-person requests would be one interpreter, and that is a big rip-off when they don't have to do travel time. I fear that they are harming the deaf community to be greedy. read more

I had high hopes since they've been around a long time, but the experience was frustrating. I tried to book an interpreter for a medical appointment and didn't hear back for almost a week. I had to hire another agency on short notice. A friend still swears by them so I may try again in the future. read more

I not only appreciate Eaton staff members for their down to earth, friendly approach but also their organized and dignified manner in which business is carried out. The fine reputation Eaton Interpreting has in the Deaf community, among business professionals, and free lance interpreters speaks volumes to the one behind the wheel - Kim Eaton. And yet she stays humble, personable, and pleasant - with a smile. Not easy for most. read more

I have worked all over the United States for many different interpreting agencies. When I moved to California, I signed up as an independent contractor with Eaton and have had the honor of picking up assignments from them for years. I immediately noticed that there is a certain culture among their schedulers, and I believe it starts with Kim Eaton. She is down-to-Earth and real; she has taken time out of her schedule to talk to me when I've needed to talk with her directly. Her schedulers are very friendly and they understand the interpreting business. I really value that as dynamic as scheduling can be they have a system that works and that keeps everyone in the loop communicating clearly and efficiently. It's awesome! I've always felt valued, respected and understood as an independent contractor. I'm very impressed with this agency- just can't say enough good things about them. read more
