Great vet Dr. Lee, he spent a lot of time with us and never tried to upsale services. The staff was very attentive to all the pets. We will continue to come see Dr. D. Rick Lee. Highly recommend.

Dr. Mary Holly Castro (who works at Estero) owns MandMAussiesofNorthCarolina, now in Florida. After also looking for a second Aussie puppy, I saw their GoFundMe page they started for their dog, Nola. They bred Nola for multiple litters without doing any hip testing first--which is the bare minimum for any responsible breeding program. It turns out Nola didn't get checked until she was three and she was then diagnosed with Grade III Hip Dysplasia, the most severe form there is. This was done by a a licensed DVM! The OFA has charts posted on their website that says a female with Grade III Hip Dysplasia paired with a male with Good (Passing) OFA hips still produces 31.5% puppies with hip dysplasia, meaning a litter of 9 will have 3 puppies with hip dysplasia. That's IF they tested the male's hips. No wonder she is not on the team members section of their website. At AKC puppy prices, two or more litters that they had from her could have been used to replace Nola's hips multiple times over. So why wait six years and then ask complete strangers to pay for it on GoFundMe? To me, it's a massive red flag regarding the ethics of this program and this vet clinic as a whole.

They saved my dogs life!…read more We went in thinking it was time to say goodbye to our sweet boy! An intern hearing our story and wanting the experience offered to do a stomach surgery to remove a massive object from our dog. Seriously it was so big we don't even know how or when he ingested something so large. They kept us in the loop the whole time and were extremely sympathetic with our situation and didn't put any pressure on us for whatever path we took. If I had followed the guidance I was given during this visit, I truly believe the outcome for my…read morecat could have been very different. I am sharing this so other pet owners know how important it is to trust their instincts. My first experience with Florida Veterinary Referral Center (May 2024) was outstanding. Dr. Glander provided exceptional care during my cat's CHF diagnosis--thorough, compassionate, and highly communicative. Because of that experience, I trusted this facility without hesitation. My most recent emergency visit was completely different and deeply concerning. I was referred urgently for sudden hind leg weakness, with concern for a possible saddle thrombus. The initial ER veterinarian, Dr. Tucker, recognized the severity immediately and recommended urgent diagnostics. After a shift change, care was transferred to Dr. Dinah Fuelling, and this is where my concerns escalated. There was a delay of several hours before basic diagnostics were completed, despite the urgency of his condition. During that time, my cat had clear hind leg weakness, instability, and was repeatedly falling--something observed by my family and acknowledged by staff. Despite this, I was told no abnormalities were observed. Equally concerning were the overall communication and bedside interaction. I was visibly distressed and emotional throughout portions of this visit while trying to advocate for my cat. I asked multiple detailed questions regarding his condition and treatment plan. My experience was that these concerns were met with limited engagement, and at times I perceived frustration and dismissiveness in the responses I received from Dr. Feulling. I was also told that his lab work--including kidney function and electrolytes--was normal. That did not align with what I was seeing. Because of that, I made the decision to seek care at another emergency hospital. At the second facility, his condition was immediately recognized as serious. Imaging confirmed acute congestive heart failure exacerbation and cardiac thrombosis requiring oxygen, IV medications, and hospitalization. I was also informed that his creatinine was elevated and that he was showing signs of impaired kidney function--something that is critically important in managing cardiac patients. This was not a subtle difference in opinion--it was a completely different clinical picture. The second ER team listened, explained, validated concerns, and treated both my cat and me with compassion and respect--exactly what any pet owner should expect in a crisis. I understand emergency medicine is complex and fast-paced. However, what I experienced--from Dr. Fuelling-- was a deeply concerning disconnect including the combination of delayed diagnostics, dismissal of observable symptoms, and the overall lack of alignment between my cat's condition and the care decisions being made. In this case, I experienced what I believe to be a combination of poor clinical judgment, delayed care, dismissal of clear symptoms, and unprofessional communication under Dr. Fuelling's care. Given the significant difference between my first and second experiences, I cannot confidently recommend this facility based on my most recent visit. My intention in sharing this is simply to provide an honest account so that others can advocate for their pets and seek additional opinions when needed. For transparency, I have included portions of the cardiology discharge summary and lab results referenced above.

This is a new generation of vets, they only do wellness check and tell you to go to the emergency care. I brought a sick cat on Monday, was charged $625 for urine test blood test and 2 shots and a medication. I left with no diagnosis, had to research on the internet with blood test results. Dr Mackenzie Gray never cared to follow up with me as I left with a sick cat. Came back for a follow up today and was actually asked to leave the practice for questioning her on wanting me to go to the urgent care instead of actually diagnosing my cat and coming up with plan. I have been coming to this practice for 5 years and was really satisfied with Dr Gregory. This is a vet from Temu, 3 months in the practice and kicking people out. Now I understand why some people I know have already left this place to never come back. (And in addition if you have a cat, they do not know how to handle them, they actually looked scared) They use AI to answer the phone so you have to talk to a robot. I was fooled, I didn't know but now I do.

*** DANGEROUS FOR BIRDS ***…read more Culture already took 2 weeks in lab, then clinic sat on positive enterobacter results two more days (Mon-Tue) despite knowing Kali's symptoms--emailed Wednesday only, no doctor call to discuss results. No phone call to check on Kali during two week plus culture waiting period. Unanswered email March 8th. Multiple calls and in-person inquiries noted by front desk, passed to doctors--zero responses over a long period of time. Reached out about gabapentin/meloxicam/saline drops and Kali's increase uric acid levels--front desk claimed messages passed to doctors, zero responses. Total radio silence on CRITICAL med questions related to kidney health. Never set communication boundaries, so I called when needing answers--they dodged, then fired me mid-treatment leaving my bird abandoned without veterinary care. They were supposed to provide up to date records yesterday which has not been provided. I requested current notes, culture and script. They said " Didn't you just get records?" I did 2 weeks ago. Doesn't include up to date. CONTAMINATED gabapentin--clinic manager admitted reusing dirty peanut butter syringes in bird med bottles as if it were written into normal procedures. Stated they do this for ALL their birds. Put a used syringe with gabapentin in a pill bottle with liquid medication in its own bottle, liquid med spilled inside pill bottle, used peanut butter syringe inside and top closed. I am glad I caught this because it would have sat overnight and turned into a science project. ***BASIC MICROBIOLOGY*** I took the contaminated project back and the same manager handed me clean syringes. I said no I'm here for gabapentin that is not contaminated. She slammed her hands on the desk and rolled her chair out and sighed with annoyance. She marched into the other room and brought an already created gabapentin to me that was not contaminated. Very poor communication practices. Extreme lack of patient education. Lack of infection control protocol. Place has a musty, mildew smell and caked dust and dog hair in exam rooms which appears disinfection between patients is lacking.
