I booked a fishing trip for my girlfriend and I and paid the deposit. When we showed up at 6:15 in the morning for our trip, we were told the boat had been over-booked and one of us could go but not both. We had driven 90 miles at 4 a.m.! No idea why there are so many harsh reviews for this place, maybe it's under different management now? The staff here were the best part, very helpful, informative, and effective. The tell you how many pounds of each fish you have, how they will process it, and when it will be ready to pickup, flash-frozen, and vacuum-sealed. Can't give 5-stars though, because the Valdez fish-processing process is very convoluted compared to other places (Seward, Homer). You get off the boat, you haul your own fish to the fish filet bros, then you pay the fish filet bros, then you haul all your fish filets from the fish filet bros to the fish freezing bros, then you get it from the fish freezing bros the next morning. read more

Very professional business, they booked my fishing charter with an Awesome Captain. Set me up with fish cutters on the dock, so when we returned the fish cutters filleted out my catch of Halibut, Rockfish, Lingcod, Pacific Cod. I then took the fillets of fish over to Easy Freeze, to set up for processing (the locals highly recommended them) They weighted it in front of me / asked me what size meals we had, we chose 1# packages, they skinned them, cut them down to size, vacuum packed, and blast froze. Everything was labeled but the Halibut - they said they processed so much, they could not keep up with labeling that species. Ohh everything tasted so good. I liked that I could just look in my freezer and pull out what I wanted for dinner via the label. Love the cook it frozen method also Easy Freeze, explained to me. You just pull it out of the freezer when we want dinner, put in tempedit water in sink or bowl, bag and all and in 15 mins its ready to cook. I had some shipped back home via FedEx, saved me from getting up early (5:30AM) and dealing with it. They charged the same amount, so win, win for me. They even had extra seafood to purchase in their Valdez Seafood Market in their store to make up for what I didn't catch, Hmmm, hmmm, we added Shrimp, Scallops, and some Awesome Copper River Red Salmon to my package. Filled it up to a full 50# box (which they provided) . Highly recommend and will use them again! read more

Go fishing and save yourself the hassle of cleaning and packaging fish. Only downside is that they flash freeze so you don't get to have fresh cleaned fish for dinner unless you thaw it out. There are a few packaging options. I got my fish filleted and packaged in thirds, because one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do, so I don't want to thaw more fish than I can eat. $1.50-$1.75 per pound. Awesome business!! I got my own Fish back, don't know with other people's issue was, but my customer service was great. They went above and beyond to inform me of my options for shipping my fish. Processing is cheaper than Fish Central down the street and I could've booked a charter with them also. Well I was there I picked up King crab, Copper River Reds. The owner did a bait and switch in the pricing for the shipping of my fish. I shipped my order from their facility in Valdez, left with a smile on my face for a great weekend of fishing with friends in the Prince Williams Sound. the Following Monday flew home with the excitement of seeing my catch arrive a day after getting home but received a call, after I got home 3 days after leaving Valdez saying the price for the shipping of my fish was increased by almost a 3rd of the overall cost of the original shipping. Now shipping fish is 98% of what this business does and has been doing it for years. When I questioned the owner I was told it wasn't his problem and repeatedly called me an A**hole and said he would just dump my F***in fish. Just a note, I had paid the original charge on the spot . while there. As they had waited to do this until until I was home, I had no way of getting my fish as they were thousands of miles away. I had no choice but to pay the added charge. I think there is another company doing this in Valdez and I would recommend using them. While I was there, the owners daughter was giving another customer a hard time as he wanted to pack his own fish. Now I know why. Use another freeze and ship company. Or face the possibility of experiencing what I and at least one other customer I directly know of experienced. read more

My experience with this company is similar to the guy above me.. Absolutely horrible service and it nearly ruined my experience of this gorgeous town. First off, I was dumb enough to book a charter fishing trip weeks in advance through this company as everyone else was already booked up. There was a reason they were the only people not booked for the weekend. They bumped us off of our boat for a larger crew(and more$) and failed to let us know or book another boat. We went to the company that morning, paid our money, and were left waiting at the dock. We went to the office and they said there was nothing they could do. They said we could book a different trip the next day but it would be more expensive! What?? They eventually put us out on a boat that afternoon so they wouldn't lose their money! (And that boat couldnt get us on any fish despite a record silver salmon season in the town!). The following day I had to take my dad to a different charter company just so he wouldn't expect all of Valdez to be like this experience-and we had an awesome day with another company. These are nasty and terrible people to deal with at easy freeze. Avoid at all costs! read more

Our bumpy ride began with the booking of a charter. It ended up taking 2 weeks to get it booked-- that should have been a sign to end our business with them, but I was unrealistically optimistic and hopeful that things would get better. They didn't. After several phone calls back and forth to get the correct spelling of our name, we showed up in the office to pick up our tickets and I notice our name is still spelled wrong. No big deal right? Later when picking up our processed fish we were told to go stand in a line by the owners wife. I waited 40 minutes to get to the front. The staff took my receipt and left. No words were said. Then we waited another 30 minutes while staff helped unload someone else's catch-- still no one has spoken to us. I finally went into the office and announced I wanted toms me s complaint. About that time the owner came out with our fish. I attempted to quietly make the complaint. I was told that it was my fault because I went to the wrong door. We tried to just drop it at that point and leave with the fish but then the wide approached me at my car and told us that if we had just read the signing the door we wouldn't have made the mistake. -- I thought there would be done customer service or accountability for bad service but I was wrong. Do not go here! Go to Fish Central around the corner-- they will take care of all your needs professionally. read more

These people may have had a bad experience and sometime the fishing can be iffy everywhere you go. This town is an amazing town and Easy Freeze helped me with my experience so much. Last minute had me on an amazing charter where I caught tones of fish!!!!! All varieties!!!! Captain was amazing!! Plus i got my fish still package and over a year later it is still as fresh as the day I caught it! I truly enjoyed all the people and there lovely attitudes behind the counter. They had my fish at my door the day after I returned home! An amazing experience in Valdez!!!! Sorry to here that you guys didn't have such a good time :( read more

Warning! Go somewhere else. They said that my fish still had bones that would puncture the packaging. They said that I had to pay extra for more cutting or some BS. I paid extra but now that I'm home and eating the salmon, they did NOTHING extra to my fillets. I knew that my filleting skills were mediocre. I knew that I had left some bones. They were supposed to remove them with the extra charge; well they DIDN'T!!!!! Their packaging leaks even with fillets that didn't have bones. They are unfriendly and push you into buying things that you don't need. Then they take forever to get your fish back to you. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND these ripoffs to anyone. read more
