After a troubled period of financial difficulties, Easton Community Centre is well on the way to recovering its position as a thriving hub of local activities in the Easton area. The daily programme is now full of an exciting range of events and it's great to see its lifeblood flowing again. The open day on Saturday 8th December showcased some of the activities with workshops and demonstrations from Alphonse's African drumming to young people's martial arts and fitness, sword fencing and a production of Hansel and Gretel by "Waiting in the Wings" theatre company.
The community centre is also a base for many youth activities such as "Firstborn Creatives" who produce and edit short films, arts, dance groups, toddlers and youth clubs. At the other end of the scale is the weekly Evergreens over 50's social club. Health and fitness classes include yoga, Bollywood dancing and relax and slim class. The Easton Community Choir based her welcomes beginners and sings songs taken from Gospel, Folk and Pop influences.
