As takeaways go, I am more of a fan of a good Chinese rather than its Indian counterpart. The taste infusion of anything launched together in a wok tends to get a solid thumbs up from me any day when the choice is available. Having said that, you can have too much of a good thing, so what better way to spice up your meal than at the Essence of Spice Indian takeaway.
Found on Pontyclun's Cowbridge Road, Essence of Spice is an Indian takeaway with a difference. With its sleek, clean and minimalist interior, it sells itself as a more up market fast food service. The personal touch of having your order brought out from behind the counter to where you are waiting is a nice variation to the common "bag over the counter" approach I have come to expect and they also regularly hold the door for their customers upon exit, further endearing themselves.
The food itself also lives up to the image, with each dish boasting an eruption of flavour at the second of tasting. The extensive menu will leave a tough choice for customers, with dishes ranging from the classic chicken jalfrezi to house specials like shatkora lamb and more unusual offerings such as fish tikka.
The servings are also generous and are sure to leave most hungry customers leant back in their armchairs with their belts undone following a clean plate. read more
