The reservation was quick and efficient. This hotel changed from the Brookshire Inn this last…read moreFriday. I drove in to find that the Brookshire name was changed to Comfort Inn. The hotel letters were gone from the last time I had been here. They now have sliding doors!!! These doors were such a hassle last time, to have to open them from the outside and bring bags in. That change alone, made this a better experience. I checked in and I found that the first two rooms (228 and 220), the t.v. would not turn on. Then the front desk gal came up to the third room (327) and she finally made the t.v. work. Apparently, one has to turn on the t.v. first, like actually go to the t.v. and there should be a power button to turn on on the back side and then use the red button (dta power) on the remote (not the t.v. one). Proceed to use the dta power to turn it off and then on again. I told her to suggest making a sign that would tell future guests how to turn on the t.v. (not sure it is going to happen). The cable here is still better than what I have at home (antenna t.v.) and this hotel has Direct TV. The only channels that this hotel does not have and that I have grown accustomed to watch during my travels are the Travel Channel (Paranormal Caught on Camera) and Discovery Family (My Cat From Hell); although, the latter show seems to only come on on Saturdays (oh well, it was great to see it when it was on on weekday mornings). 08/05 I woke up this morning and wanted to start my day with coffee, but noticed that the coffee machine had four cups and two packets of creamer, sugar, stirrer, and napkin, but no coffees?? What is up with that? The breakfast hot foods (the food that everyone actually wants over packaged foods and cold foods) was sausage patties, scrambled egg beater eggs, and biscuits. The sausage patties came out pretty slow though. Every time I had come down, after the first visit to the breakfast area at 6:30 a.m., I only found like one sausage patty. I would always find two or three people seated in the area and so if they only made enough for those individuals to take with one left over, then I would think only like 10 were made at a time (good idea from a business perspective though, not to generate waste if people do not eat it). I feel like this place, when it transitioned over from Brookshire Inn, is now a bit better; however, there are still ways it can be improved (not missing basic things) that would really make it an average experience.

We were looking forward to trying this hotel, as we will be making frequent trips to visit our son…read moreat college. The hotel's exterior and lobby area made a positive first impression. However, upon entering our room on the third floor, we were greeted by the August heat. I turned on the air conditioning, but it only ran for about five minutes before shutting off. We decided to give it some time to cool down while we were out at an event. When we returned late at night, the room was still warm and muggy. Fortunately, we had brought a fan, which helped to make the room a little more comfortable. As another reviewer mentioned, our TV was not working. Since it was late, we decided to go to bed instead of trying to fix it. The bed itself was comfortable, but the sheets felt rough, like a kitchen scratch pad. The next morning, I realized I had forgotten my soap and shampoo at home, so I planned to use the hotel's. However, when I went to take a shower, I found that our room was not stocked with soap, conditioner, or shampoo. We had to go down to the front desk to get some. Before heading out, I went to fill out cooler up with some ice and in the tile floor in that area was absolutely disgusting. Based on our experience, we will not be staying at this hotel again.

Just checked in and not a bad hotel so far…read more Smelled like cigarette smoke on my way in, but not bad by any means. I actually like that kind of smell. They have small conditioners and shampoos and so that is always great. My room has a microwave and refrigerator (better than SUITE TIER of rooms at the Crowne Plaza in Louisville. One only receives these amenities with the Presidential suite.) The one item they did not have so far, but I was looking for was a business center. The gal did not exactly know what I was referring to. I just stated "a room with a computer and a printer, a place where someone could print out a boarding pass." Then I thought to myself "Who the hell is flying out of Pikeville?" I heard they also give breakfast. If they do, they beat out both Hilton Garden Inns and Courtyards by Marriott. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4/4 My stay was completed on this date. Other inconsistences: Which brings me to one point and I have seen this before at a hotel in Abingdon, VA at their Red Roof Inn. People are stealing irons. Make sure that irons are only given out on an ask basis and tell the customer to bring it back at checkout. The toilet paper in the bathroom is all the way on the ground. Easier to pull it off and use it. Breakfast: YES! They had a complimentary breakfast. I was trying to make hot chocolate in the morning, BUT the hot water spigot on the coffee machine did not work and so i had to resort to mixing hot chocolate with the coffee already made. The breakfast options were somewhat limited on hot foods (omlette (sp?) prepared egg, biscuit, sausage, and gravy). The rest of the foods were premade baked breakfast items like doughnuts, cereal, etc. Oh...no where in any of the items did I see milk. For beverages, they offered these airline cups (those plastic circular containers that have foil on them and one peels them back to drink. One always gets them with their Economy Class meals): orange juice, apple juice, and grape juice O_o (in the morning?). Suggestion to improve aesthetics: Front doors to this hotel are not sliding doors. The hotel's name on the outside is Brookeshire Inn above the entrance and then "hotel" down the side of the building. This is kind of misleading. The name is Brookshire Inn & Suites. So maybe put "& Suites" instead? Customer service: I found that the t.v. signal dropped in the middle of the night and I still could not get anything in the morning. This is an inconvenience! Room 110! Some attractive ginger head (red head?), who reminded me of a coworker (she ended up getting fired because she had shown up under the influence multiple times and would always mess up things always being too ahead over herself when doing things) was cleaning out my room when I was out and about. I ended up coming back and walking back into the room and she was like "Wait, this is your room?" I was like "Yeah, I will probably be checking out soon. Did you see anything of mine?" Then she responded with "Like what? Well, I was just changing dirty towels and sheets....Did you need me to close this door?" It was definitely an awkward encounter, but yeah...the maid service (read that again...MAID service...that's horrible..anyway) sign was not on the door and I HAD NOT CHECKED OUT YET! Wait until customers check out before cleaning out the rooms!
