This seems like a nice hotel. Good thing, too, it's the only hotel in town. It seems to have had a partial face-lift in recent history. However, they missed a bunch of stuff. For example - the fiberglass bathtub in my King Suite is cracked and chipped. In spots, the paint is peeling off the walls. The a/c unit seems to be left over from last century. All of that, tho, is just aesthetics. What is not right is that the bed sheets were not changed after the last occupant. Yuck! read more

Part of the Choice Hotels family. Good hotel. I checked in yesterday and it was a quick check in process. They have iced lemon water free for guests near the check in counter. They have a business center that is right in the hallway to some rooms. Their elevator is right behind you once you check in. The room I received was a booked suite and so it was not bad. The only issue I had in the room was that not all the t.v. channels listed could be accessed. I sat up all night watching Ghost Adventures on the travel channel. They do also have TruTV which has Impractical Jokers. It is always nice to see these two channels available when I book a hotel in KY. I only have antenna t.v. at home so I never get a chance to see these shows. Their continental breakfast is good. You get both hot and cold foods. I love the biscuits and gravy and the bacon was crisp! The checkout was speedy as well. *Note The hotel is located in an area where there is like no restaurants around it, if one is coming from the Lexington direction. All the restaurants are located on a junction or highway going perpendicular to the junction that this hotel lays on the side of. read more

My husband and I recently had occasion to be back in our hometown area for an overnight stay. Because I'm from Louisa and Mike is from Pikeville, we feel "at home" either place or anywhere in between. So, a few days before our trip, I went online to hotel shop for our overnight stay. The first place I looked was the hotels in Louisa... well, as small of a town as Louisa is, both of their hotels best prices were ridiculous when compared to other offerings. You would think that rates in a small town would be more competitive but it's just the opposite. As an example, Best Western Plus on 23 across from McDonalds and the birdhouse - best rate for a king non smoking regular room was 130.00 plus tax. Instead, I booked a king suite in Comfort Suites by the MAC in Prestonsburg for 109.00 plus tax. This was not just their king room, it was a suite, so we got a lot more relaxing space, a couch, coffee table and such. Not only that, but I asked for early check in so we could get settled and catch our breath before heading to our event. They kindly obliged and we checked in at 12:10 instead of the customary 3:00 pm that most hotels hold you to. The hotel was clean, the staff cordial, the room was clean, comfortable, and everything was in good working order like it was supposed to be. The stay was quiet so we got good rest. The Door Dash delivery was fast and direct to us with the pizza still almost too hot to eat! Kudos to Door Dash in the Prestonsburg area. The hotel has a gym, an indoor pool, ample parking, and complimentary breakfast, and the room has all the usuals like microwave and mini fridge, working desk and free Wi-Fi, cable flat screen tv, usb phone and laptop charging hookups and hair dryers etc. I don't know why little towns like Louisa have to charge so much more for a stay with many less features... but it would seem if they want to draw tourism, they would make their rates more competitive. My personal guess as to the reason they keep their rates so high is because corporations book their workers who are onsite for extended stays into the hotel and by keeping the rates so high they make more from these companies. That is just a guess on my part and I have no data to back that up. In the recent past, Mike and I have stayed at Best Western Plus in Louisa; we've stayed at the Carriage House in Paintsville and the hotel south of Pikeville there on 23 and now Comfort Suites in Prestonsburg, so I can make a fair comparison. Comfort Suites by the MAC in Prestonsburg wins hands down across the board. Not only are their room rates the best, The hotel is very comfortable, ascetically pleasing, good location, multiple amenities, very nice staff, able to handle special requests without extra charge and room rates that are very good even for weekend stays. Oh and they have a generous cancellation policy and you aren't pre charged. And had the stay been on a week day and not a weekend - our same King Suite here at Comfort Suites would be 85.00 plus tax. Just passing on the info for folks who come to visit in the area, and to the tourism folks in Lawrence County... competively priced accomodations might go a long way to helping pull people into your area where, like us, they would spend extra money during their stay. This Comfort Suites was renovated, clean, and the price was good. Our only complaint was that the new nice-looking couch was so hard when sat upon that it was very uncomfortable! Very poor choice of new furniture. read more

Over priced, not worth it- We travel a lot and this hotel experience was by far one of the worst. First room had black mold, smelled of, carpet was gross I couldn't take off my shoes and it was dark, outdated and dingy. We swapped rooms, a little better- smelled (hallways too, smoke free hotel!? I doubt it). Stuffy, mold and mildew on outside window, trash on the couch, fridge didn't get that cold. The bathroom had crusted old urine behind toilet and beard hair shavings so I was too tired to deal and used sani wipes and cleaned the room down for my family. Not impressed with gym or cable options. Was nervous about the bedding but showered more than once instead. Fair warning, a lot of work should and needs to be done to ask for 90 a night. read more

Nice hotel just outside of the town hustle. If there was such a thing in a small town. First room was a no go...room was nice however the toilet chain had busted. Staff moved us to the room next door. The wife and kids enjoyed the pool, was a very good size pool. The workout room was good, had a treadmill, elliptical, recumbent, and free weights. With a nice size flat panel monitor, water, and fresh towels. And it had the one service I always look for when staying in a hotel. Breakfast...the most important meal off the day. Good coffee and a descent amount off food to choose from. Good to help get your day started! My daughter enjoyed listening to the roosters crow in the morning. If you go behind the hotel you can hear the roosters crowing beyond the treeline. read more

If I could give no stars I would, let me tell you why. I live in Northern Virginia (Loudoun County) and I have family in Eastern Kentucky (Floyd county / Prestonsburg). We are getting ready to move. I drove to my aunts house in KY so she could come back to VA with me so she could take some stuff back and get her car fixed. On our way to my house we got caught in the snow storm that happened Jan. 7th and got stuck in WV, in all seriousness we almost died. We got stuck on the side of the road because the road were COMPLETELY iced. It took well over 3 hours before someone helped us. We made it home Wednesday Jan. 8th. Fast forward to today. I had to come back to KY with my aunt to grab my car because it I would need a way back home. In total I have been traveling over 28 hours and we're mentally and physically exhausted. It didn't help that we were also caught in a severe rain storm on our way here. Last night my parents booked me a hotel room for the night (not enough room at my aunts). After barely making it here in the storm, the lady at the front desk begins to check me in. Mind you it's under my dads name because he got me the room. She looks at me weird and asks for my I.D which is fine because that's like standard protocol. This is where it goes down hill. She takes my ID, immediately places it in front of me and rudely says "You can't rent a room, you're under 21." In shock I asked her "Even if my dad already bought the room?" Right away she said yes. I'm baffled at this point. I'm 20 turning 21 and I have rented countless rooms at multiple hotels ESPECIALLY Comfort Suites bought by both my parents and I. Not ONCE have I had a problem. I am well aware different hotels have different age restrictions. No where did it say you have to be 21 here. I wouldn't even say this hotel is worth 3 stars and that me being generous. I step outside to call my mom because at this point I don't know what to do. It's literally pouring outside and there was no way I was gonna risk my my life for the second time this week. I could feel her shoot daggers with her eyes as she watched me leave outside. Thank god my aunt was coming back so my cousin could spend the night before I go home. My mom and I told her what happened, so she helps me check in. This time another lady is at the desk, Wendy. The ladies must have been switch shifts. My aunt tells Wendy that she's checking in and that the room is under her brother in law name. "Your names not ____." Rudely before making a PHOTO COPY OF HER ID! Not once have I seen or heard of them making copies of IDs. When we got the room keys I thought we were done with all this nonsense. Nope, I couldn't have been more wrong. We got to our room, got settled and order pizza (Pizza Hut- this is important). Not even an hour later we got a call from the front desk "checking" to see if we were ok. We knew something was up, so for everyone's safety, my aunt stayed with us. Thank god she did. Fast forward to about an hour later. The three of us were hanging out in the room enjoying pizza when my aunt said she was going to the car to get some clothes. Little did I know while my aunt was getting her stuff, Wendy from the front desk was spying on us. My aunt caught her in front of our room, I don't know what she was doing. Once they made eye contact, Wendy does a complete 180 trying to walk away knowing she was caught. But while doing so she asked my aunt the following: "Y'all get pizza?" "Yes." My aunt replied "Was it good?" "Yes." My aunt said irritatedly "Where's it from?" "Pizza Hut." She pushes out before walking in and shutting the door. At this point I'm past annoyed, I'm furious. Not even 2 hours and we've been harassed. I am Hawaiian and for the first time ever I'm feeling like I'm being racially profiled and discriminated against because i look Asian. All for what!? I'm under age!? I have a twelve year old with me for crying out loud. What am I gonna do? Throw a massive party? Maybe trash the place while I'm at it. Jesus! It will be a loooooong time before I consider even the littlest thought of coming back here! I know she was probably just trying to do her job but this IS NOT the way to did it! read more

Beware if you live within 50 miles. I came home from work and my hot water tank had leaked. I have a funeral and work tomorrow so I decided to rent a room for a few days until it's fixed. I went online and paid in full before I arrived. I was told they do not rent to people that live within a 50 mile radius and I had to contact the company for them to start a refund process. It is 3 days after Christmas, I have to pay for a new tank, rent another hotel, and wait until I get a refund. Horrible hotel policy. I hope no one local has a emergency the "best" of our 4 hotels will not let you rent a room. SMH! read more

Great location. Easy to find. Check in was easy. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were nice sized and modern. The breakfast was the usual free hotel breakfast fare. Plenty of outlets to charge phones and tablets and notebooks. Ample free wifi with average speed for hotel wifi. BUT, when my wife and I each stepped into the shower in the morning and turned the water on, the base of the tub looked like we had been wading in mud puddles. The carpet was absolutely filthy. It needed swept with a professional vacuum cleaner, professionally cleaned, professionally swept again, and then ripped out and replaced. It's such a shame that this detail that should never be over looked kept me from giving this hotel 4 or 5 stars. read more

This was a nice hotel and a reasonable rate. The decorations in the room was really nice and the breakfast wasn't too bad either. The pool was the perfect temperature not too cold and a little warm which was nice since it is fall. There was some kind of burn out contest or show going on next door and that was really interesting. It was something we had never seen before. It was very clean. The only complaint I might have is I think the pillows were feather pillows because they didn't support my head. I would go back if I were traveling through the area again. read more

Came here with a friend on a business trip. At first, there was a snafu with our reservation, and the hotel was pretty well booked. However, the woman at the front desk, Carly I believe her name was, cleared things up and found us a great room. Very neat and clean. The breakfast was great!!. You don't find Canadian Bacon everywhere. I probably never be back to Prestonsburg, but I'll go to Comfort Suites again. read more
