Spectacular in some events, average in others. Variety is exceptional, but not very unique. The important thing is they treat their plants the way they should be treated so you go home with really healthy well treated plants. This is a very delicate time of year, And they do it well. A lot of sellers don't care, Will mistreat you're plants because of poor inventory Control and weather fluctuations . you bring home a beautiful plant that drops it leaves 7 days later because someone left a tropical outside on a night less than 40 degrees. These guys are NOT doing that. They have specimin level cactus inside and hardy succulents outside, fabulous selection of season appropriate plants allocated properly so nothing will come home and drop leaves. Gorgeous Big blooming Reiger begonias that were hardened properly outdoors, havent dropped a single bloom at my home in the last week... they have beautiful bloom pending quart perennials like salvia at 1/2 Home Depot price. Isnide the bromilead selection is incredible. Indoor tropicals were coming out their ears, (but not the doors bc it's too cold) monsteras, zz plants, sanseveria(aka snake plant/mother-in-law) and I think they had banana tress- that or giant bird of paradise, either way, I can't afford them so I ran away Before they unwrapped them, broke my heart and my credit limit.. if $ is not an issue, these are your guys. I met the A. and the Son In A.visconti and sons, everyone was so helpful, not just the bosses. They seem to be as excited about spring as I was. I'm a very experienced indoor and outdoor gardener and every tip they gave me was on the money, even if it discouraged me from buying... they clearly want happy informed returning customers more than a spring fever impulse sale. I couldn't have enjoyed it more

My favorite vendors are the honey guy, and the stand that sells zucchini & pumpkin breads at $2 for $4. The zucchini bread is delish! Also while the fruits and veggies might be pricier then in the supermarket, you'll be supporting a local farm, getting fresh produce and supporting a great new tradition. The herbs, plants and flowers are at decent prices. Some of the vendors accept EBT & Food stamps which I think is thoughtful. It's a great place to visit and escape to during the hectic work day or to stroll and enjoy on a nice Saturday.

It's definitely baked fresh and I love the flakiness when you bite into it. Besides the excellent baked goods, you can get organic fresh fruits and vegetables, seafood, specialty pickles and live music! It's also so nice to have a farmer's market at this area, the views from this park is amazing. It is not the most visible spot, but it's right by the dog run park and where B63 bus ends. Please note this only happens on Sundays.

There's tons and tons of park space of all sorts in the immediate vicinity (outdoor BBQ, dog runs, track and field, or just plain grass lawns with plenty of trees and open), which makes this a fun experience for an hour or two rather than just quickly buying and leaving. You can easily buy some supplies at the market and have a snack or picnic steps away. This place is around all year I believe but we really enjoy coming in the Fall, as there's great options here for hot cider and donuts, fresh fruits and vegetables, delicious cheese and milk (some of the best Eggnog I've had is sold each year at this market), and lots of other stuff to peruse from while on a leisurely weekend stroll. We live over in Queens, and there's some half-decent similar markets around in that part of town, but it's just nicer to bike or commute over to Greenpoint and enjoy this Farmers Market on a Saturday. If you're in the area on a Saturday morning, treat yourself and stop by.

Conscientiously raised poultry & eggs, and charcuterie are also available . I don't know the folks who organize this farmer's market personally, but I know they work hard to make it useful and inviting to a wide demographic and a focal point for local commerce and positive change. Before the neighborhood had municipal composting there were compost collection bins on farmer's market days, which I think were courtesy of the Lower East Side Ecology Center (If I'm wrong, my apologies). There is currently a garment donation area during market, and usually some tastefully handled (non-invasive) live music playing while people shop and talk under the trees and around the colonnade. I really appreciate this market and await their return in warmer months.

I don't believe I haven't reviewed this amazing greenmarket, yet!…read more I am so grateful to live a few blocks from this weekly/bi-weekly market! It's open year round on Wednesdays and most of the year on Sundays (the last weekend this year was December 19th and they'll pick back up in the spring.) Wednesdays is generally the better day and I highly recommend the bakery for excellent baguettes and Stony Mountain ranch for killer bacon, sausage, fresh eggs, the best bone-in chicken breast I've ever had, and truly the cutest proprietor ever. (Off topic, but holy moly is he cute!) They also carry a wide range of other meats and I'm definitely going to grab one of their steaks or pork chops, soon! In the spring and fall, they have a great salad/lettuce vendor (usually on sale for 3 clamshells for $10), a mushroom vendor, and more vegetable/fruit vendors - including one who carries beautiful and reasonably priced flowers. There's also a great seafood vendor with the best scallops I've ever had, but they seem to appear more infrequently. I still do a big shopping at Grand Army once or twice a month to pick up flowers, seafood, and fruits and veggies during the cold months (when this market is pretty barren) but this little guy will always be my number 1.
